Restaurants to become a wacky
« on: July 11, 2010, 07:52:19 AM »
Sometime ago in another forum we had discussed the possibility of having more restaurant chains parodied and I'd like to revive the list and see what everyone thinks. Other places that service food, snacks and deserts are also requested. Everyone please add your place of interest to the list. Ahh...Chilis is a good one, so much can be done with their signature pepper.

My wife and I always call Applebee's "Applecheese". Not very clever, but it does seem hard to order something there without cheese.

You are so correct, and every commercial shows a cheese topping on whatever dish they are creating.  I personally have not eaten at an Applebee's in some time, to me they lost their luster.

Does anyone recall "Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour" (served food as well) if so do you think it warrants to be on the list?

I was thinking the same thing with Farrell's.  With the throwback outfits they used to wear it would certainly fit in for Old School.

Kenny Roger's Roasters Chicken
Dang, that one is screaming for a parody!
Dolly would need to be part of that title . . . maybe she could be choking Kenny's chicken in the back of the chuck wagon

Here are a couple I'd like to see.

The Double Down "sandwich" certainly needs to be parodied.

I'd also add TGI Fridays and Red Lobster to the restaurant list.

Did they have the styrofoam 'straw' hats, and make you stand up in the booth so they could sing to you on your birthday?  I have no idea what their logo was, so although I remember eating ice cream there, I don't know that I'd really 'get' a Wacky of it.

How about Pudgie's Chicken?  They were all over here for a while, and then most closed.  They're coming back now.

There's still one Roy Rogers restaurant on Long Island.  I think they're also in a lot of highway rest stops.

Hmm, now I want a roast beef sandwich with all the fixin's I want......

Don't forget, Starbucks was covered in ANS2 as Starducks Coffee.

There is one two miles from my home, and I believe a few others here in the DC area as well.  But yeah, they are few and far between.

There are a bunch on your list that have already been done as Wackys. I think the fast food places that have an actual wrapper of some kind or a 7-11 type that has a famous product works better than say an Applebees or Fudruckers. A new one shot series called Wacky Restaurants or something would be a better bet to cover all those types of places. The other problem is region. Most top food brands are everywhere but some of these places only show up in certain areas of the country. There are some on this list I don't have a problem with for OLDS though (some are already planned out...hmmm).

When my son was little, he used to think the name of the restaurant was "Applebeast."  I think a lot could be done with that one in a Wacky!

I think Taco Bell is one of the ones where you could do a paroday without changing the name.  I have a friend who is Hispanic and has always referred to Taco Bell as the Mexcian phone company.  I thought that was hilarious.

You are correct that some of them are wackys, I just did not want to define all the ones that were I figured people knew already. The idea of a one shot series Wacky Restaurants would be cool.  I think we all understand that particular restaurants are region based but truthfully I don't know if that would be of an issue to many but I could be wrong. So, that is a subtle "Hmmmmm" you have there, I know, no spoilers right?  Other than having some of these as possibly planned for old school do you think the remainder would spark interest in a proposed Wacky Restaurant series or something of that nature?
