That's still just mind-boggling.  If that shipment is truly lost I don't see how Topps will be able to 'restore' the series, unless they have been keeping track of which set numbers were in which shipments, and which artist's sketches were in which set numbers.  Not that replacement sketches would have to be 'identical', or even the same titles/combos, but if there are to be 60 from each artist, they'd need to know how many replacements each artist needed to create.  And the numbering makes it even crazier.  Don't want to have a set numbered '35 of 300' from the original shipment, and then another (replacement) set numbered 35.  I've been trying to note set numbers when people have posted them, to see if there's maybe a specific range not represented, but most people don't post the numbers, and some of the ebay sellers didn't even realize they could tell the set number from the wrapper.  Does anyone have a set in the 200's?
I am sorry to be so dull witted here but I still don't get the whole lost shipment thing.  Shipment was lost going from where to where?  I assumed when Topps put these on sale, they had the stock in hand.  Is that not a correct assumption?  If they did have the stock, then the only shipments from that point are to customers which would be no more than 5 to any one customer so at what point in this process did a large amount of this set get lost?  I feel like a dumbass but I just don't get this.

I'm not sure I understand this either.  I was thinking that maybe sets got lost AFTER Topps sent them out.  I don't know if this is correct though.

The whole thing is a bit of a mystery. I was wondering if that was the case since Topps was taking orders on Friday but wouldn't ship until next Wed. They may have been waiting on some sketches from a couple artists. So far all the artist represented have had sketch cards show up so I can only imagine they were done in batches and didn't send Topps all 60 at one time. That could be another reason that the sketch images on each artist site were taken down because if they have to do new sketches people might wonder why a certain sketch that were on their site hasn't shown up. I would hate for Pat to get her shipment only to get 5 cards from the same artist.
I am only speculating on this but let's start the conspiracy theory.........

Couldn't agree more with y'all, the whole story sounds odd.  Here's an email I received from Topps after I inquired about my shipment:

Dear Topps Customer,
Due to a lost shipment from the printer, a number of the Limited postcard set orders are temporarily on hold.  We are expecting to fulfill orders in approximately 2 weeks. We sincerely apologize for the delay.

This may be nothing more than the actual Post card shipment from the printer was lost and has to be redone.  Even batches of sketches from artists would originate from different places.

On a positive note, even though I swore not to chase sketches for over $100, I landed this one today....it is my birthday and my wife saw me go "hmmmmm" when reviewing this auction as I really like the sketch and I don't have a Philly Runt one yet so I left my computer.  Next thing I know, she bought it for me.  Needless to say I can't let her know about my $100 sketch rule :-)

The promo sticker, bio set and limited edition post cards from this auction will be made available but probably on ebay unless someone makes a strong private offer.

I would be very surprised if the shipments involved the printer.  I would think that they would have had to have all 300 sets ready to go before they started mailing.  This isn't thousands of copies either.  Were talking about 300 pieces!  Why would the printer send anything but all of the 300 to Topps?  I also get the sense that this involves sketch cards.

It's possible that Topps had all of the various items in-hand, and started putting together packages in the morning.  After they get around 1/2 of them packaged and ready to go they were picked up by UPS to ship, and were lost from that point forward.  Companies that ship a lot like Topps will have scheduled pick-up times during the day, and then they sort and distribute the packages based on where they go.

I like the sketches that actually call out the title ie "philly runts" or "stench" so I am willing to pay a bit of a premium for those.  The real silver lining is that she saw the smile on my face when I saw we won it and for me, it is much more about making sure the gift giver feels good than analyzing the gift.  I could see she felt good about the move and I am thrilled to be adding this to my collection.

Was that a BIN auction?  I've been looking for a Philly Runt sketch but I must have missed that one I guess.

Thanks! Wow, that's a nice one. What a crazy unique character, not to mention the amazing bottle rendering.

It's a crazy unique character by combining other unique characters! How many captains are represented in him? I see Cap'n Crunch, Captain America, Captain Kirk, Captain Hook...

That is a wonderful sketch! I can't decide if the beet looks more angry or dyspeptic, like he's got a little reflux - either way, I love it and great pull!

I wonder if there is some Captain Morgan in there. I'm not sure where the feather in the hat comes from. Any idea if the green sock is from another character or is this feature perhaps unique to Captain Moron? Where's Smokin' Joe when you need him?

Is it me or does this look like one angry tomato? It's almost creepy and not loony looking.
