Thought I'd share a new Mars Attacks/Wacky mashup I created for the new Mars Attacks Occupation sketch cards. More to come...

Nice, that's better than Topps planning a Star Wars/Wacky Packages mash up last year that they cancelled a few months before its September 2014 release.

Neil, that's too cool.  I've been following the progress on the Mars Attack Occupation kickstarter and it looks like it's going to be one hell of a set!

I wonder if Wackies will see a Kickstarter set. The frank discussion on cardboard connection between collectors and Topps regarding this release and how much pledges are priced at is an interesting read. I found the thread when I googled this topic.

Hey, that's great! I'd love a whole set of the mash-ups like those that appeared in Chrome.

Andrew, thanks for mentioning this.  I took a peak at the Blowout Card forum and there is also a ton of info.  Adam Levine from Topps is moderating the thread.  Looking it over it's amazing to see how many enthusiastic, younger fans Mars Attacks has attracted.  I guess it must be the movie and cool aliens that has kept it alive.  It's a shame Wackys don't have the same appeal.

I signed up for the email list yesterday. Did anyone here receive the email with the proposed pledge levels? If so please post it so we can see.

Andrew, I've been getting them and there's been a ton of info.  Here's most of it but it was scattered in different emails and the formats varied.  I did my best to keep it concise but as Han Solo said "Sorry about the mess."

Daryl, the Kickstarter goes live on May 5.  According to what I've read this will be the release of the set so if you don't pledge you'll have to go to eBay.  Also the number of boxes will be based on the results of the Kickstarter so it may end up a fairly limited release.  Regardless it seems it will not exceed 4000-5000 boxes so it's comparable to Old School.  Of course, this could all change based on how well it does.

Burning Flesh $1350 Pledge level looks cool as hell. I am glad I prefer Wackies because I think I would be doing that level if this were wackies.

What would we want to see if they did Wacky Packages in this type of Kickstarter format?

Would a Lost Wacky Packages collection (includes the never released Star Wars Wacky Packages entries) count for a Wacky Packages Kickstarter format?

Lower prices!

Dennis, price has been a major issue of discussion on the Blowout forum.  Adam Levine at Topps has been very forthright with the fans and really trying to price it as aggressively as possible.  It seems that many of us are used to the pricing of the secondary market where, as an example, a base set of cards might sell for $10.  It seems that this is below cost and right now the Kickstarter base set option is $40!  The short of it seems to be that although with a Kickstarter you're getting a ground floor, better than retail pricing strategy it won't be any cheaper than if you were buying the cards in a flooded secondary market.

That's awesome.

Mexican Hats is one of my favorite early 70's candy boxes, which makes Martian Hats a fave original series WP, which makes this a new fave of mine, too.

I have an idea for a Star Wars/Mars Attacks/Wacky Packages mashup to make up for the planned but cancelled Star Wars Wacky Packages series last year...
"MAUL ATTACKS" (Darth Maul in place of the Mars Attacks martain or dressed like it)

I agree.  I'd buy a set.

How about the 4th series Armor Hot Dogs with SJP's head on the dachshund.

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying 'em! I think by the time I'm done, I might have enough to make a set. Now, if only we can convince Topps to print them...

I agree that this would be an awesome set and I'm not even a Mars Attacks! collector.  Would love to see Topps offer this.

Neil,

Any chance of your MA/Wackies being made into stickers and added as a subset available as an add-on pack purchase like Judge Dredd/ MA was?

That would boost sales quite a bit for that project.

Well if that's not possible hopefully one will be included in the All Star Art sub-set.
