Predictions for 2015 Releases?
« on: December 27, 2014, 07:22:30 AM »
Any predictions? Topps has not been proactive in releasing info regarding future plans.

Any intell on what is to come? It seems like quite awhile since we had a postcard release.

Will there be a Chrome 2?  2015 Series 1.  OS 6.   Anything else?  It seems like Topps has

deviated from releasing info regarding retail release 6 months before they arrive.

I am hoping a "Magical" unicorn will release a binder for:

Chrome
2014 Series 1 (ANS12)

I am hoping the Witches of Eastwick will release:

Halloween Postcards in 2015 (666 signed copies)

I am hoping for a new limited release called:

Wacky Packages Cereal Collector's Pack (Nothing but Cereal Parodies they have done over the years)
- This will include a very limited number of Relic Patches of Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Boo Berry

Just a thought......

I'm going for:
Wacky Packages Chrome Series 2
Wacky Packages 2015 series
Wacky Packages Old School 1980's and 1990's edition

But I don't think Topps will try to hype the withdrawn in 2014 after planning a Star Wars Wacky Packages edition.

OK, OK, I'm not so good at predicting the future.

A collectors set of lenticular chrome postcards.

I'd say I'm worse than you. However, the way Topps is going lately, maybe not...

I have no idea what will come, but I'd love to see a Chrome 2 and OLDS6 (of whatever decade).  I haven't bought the 2014 Wackys and don't know if I will.  The only reason I want to see another series is if there are some good subsets and/or an improvement in quality.  It would be nice if Topps busts out something new, but we'll see.

Non-Sport Update's next issue is its 2015 preview issue.  If memory serves, that was the first we learned of at least one (maybe two) of the series that appeared in '14.

For a 2015 main Wacky Packages series, I would like to see these subsets:
A subset of 10 fashion related Wacky Package spoofs (Wacky Packages takes on Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Coach, Ecco, etc.) - call it UN-FASHION MINDED.
Another 10 RIDICULOUS READS subset

How about an Old School series consisting of only Silver/Bronze Age comic book parodies, like the all-magazine series originally planned for OS 11?  How cool would that be, at least for us comic book enthusiasts?

$30 a year to belong.

Club exclusive items.

First dibs on Web Exclusives like postcards , posters and OS boxes.

One Exclusive Sticker and Postcard per year with membership.

A club would be cool but somehow Topps managing a club would be an epic FAIL :]

Olds 6 would be cool. Along with new postcards- A St Patricks Day batch of Irish themes would be cool

I'd like to see Topps do OS6 as the final 1970's set. There's a few things I'd like to see in it,i.e. a parody of Fruit Brute, the last Monster Cereal of the 70's (and the only one that flopped), the Stingers and Spaghetto-O's stickers, a parody of another Ralston cereal called Grins & Smiles & Giggles & Laughs, and the final Wacky Magazine planned for OS 11, Rotting Zone.

WOW! This should be interesting! Can't wait to see who they use to critique the value of the cards!

From the brief description of this show on our satellite service, I am not sure its exactly about Wacky Packages cards but mentions a proposed Art Speigelman book. Will be interesting to see. For us, its being shown on PBS at 8 pm. Here is the description provided:

"New York City Series/Special. (2015) Part 1 of 3. An unpublished Art Spiegelman book proposal; headboard from the set of 'The Godfather: Part II.' New. Season Premiere. (CC) (Stereo)"

UPDATED... watched tonight's show but no Wacky Packages. This is the 1st of 3 shows in New York City, however,  but I suspect the Spiegelman segment may be as close as we come.

If OS6 is one more 1970's set for 2015, then I guess OS7 will be a 1980's set for 2016.

Lots of great predictions but does anyone know of any real news/announcements for 2015 yet?

Just checked the release list at cardboardconnection.com and nothing "Wacky" listed so far.

One more thing for a possible OSC 6. The Topps product (and puzzle) could be Charlie's Angels.

Choke,   Beats me.  I've lost contact with 'em.  Trying to think like them, I'm guessing that in their minds 2015 is an ideal time for a Bieber series.

Perhaps they are thinking what else they can screw Norm Saunders out of. Maybe some Lost Wacky Norm Sketches that they paid him a nickel to sketch back in the day :-\ :] >(

I sense a Norm Saunders Tribute set in the future. His daughter Zina can do the sketches.
I know there is already a card set but not one done by Topps that focuses on Wackies.

So in June we will see Wacky Packages 2015 Series 1. That's great news. Thanks for sharing.

I guess we will see details in the coming weeks. I wonder what Topps will have this time around

in terms of chase items? I still feel the four card Simko Desert Demented Sketch set I pulled is the

coolest sketch item I have ever pulled out of a pack. That will be hard to top.

Hopefully the humor will continue in the positive direction of the last set.

Dave indicated in another thread that he's adhering to 1972-1978 for Old School right now, and still has ideas for that time frame.

I will probably buy three collector boxes of 2015 Series 1. I will buy some at retail too and doubt the packs will be searchable this time around. I will strive to pull the Gravity Feed oiut of an sealed Excel box at Target so I know I am the first person to touch them. The retail hunt is always fun/ coupled with the monitoring of this sight for retail intel.
