Displaying ANS11 patches & 2014 S1 medallions
« on: November 29, 2014, 08:57:50 AM »
So the ANS11 patches and 2014 S1 medallions are way too cool to keep in a cabinet or box. Anyone have suggestions for displaying them? Post a photo!

All I've got is a couple in a recessed single card holder.  They do indeed look too cool for pages in a binder or in a box in a closet.  I think both insert sets are the highlights of the last two ANS releases.

I am actually off to my local card/hobby shop this afternoon in search of my Magical Holders!

If I find anything that works will definitely post some pics!

I put my rare demented medallion card in a clear, Lucite, magnet closure single card protector.

That is just deep enough to hold it and looks pretty sweet.

Can you link to the case? I see Ultra Pro has a ton of options but I don't know which one is thick enough: http://www.ultrapro.com/product_list.php?cPath=28

The very thickest snap-tite that I have on hand fits an ANS11 patch, but it's ever so slightly too thin for a medallion. Sounds as though magnetic holders that thick exist, per Dr. Deal's post.   Here is shot of my patch, not a great photo, but you get the idea:

Holders are listed with thickness measured in points. Are these cards 130pt, 180pt, what?

I like these holders that are just big enough to hold the card in terms of its length and width.  In other words, I don't like the ones that have the extra length/width to have a magnet or screw down part.  I wish there were ones that fit a medallion (though I don't own a medallion card yet).

I was going to put them in those extra-thick toploaders.  They seem to fit pretty well, though they can fall out the end.  So the magnetic holder mentioned below might be better.

So here are pics of my thicker magnetic Card Protector. This one is 3/8 " thick while my others are only 1/4' thick.

I only have one of these and I think I purchased it at WalMart last year. I checked a few WalMarts this and did not see any for sale.

I found some on Ebay that I think are what I have. They are 180pt Card Protectors. 360641862915 on Ebay.

I spoke with Justin at UltraPro last week and sent a detailed e-mail with measurements and pictures of both these products.

They will look at it and hopefully we will have screw down cases in the near future for these gems!

Awesome, can't wait to hear from UltraPro as I now have a complete set of the new medallions and want to display them sharply!

Although those magnetic cases look nifty, too. Hmmm...

I will follow up with them as well.

I would LOVE to be able to place all 9 ANS11 Patches in ONE holder and maybe 2 holders with 6 (Orig & ALT) for the Medallions!!

I just purchased some 180 point, but don't have a medallion to try out in them yet.  They definitely look too thick for the patches from ANS11.  I think I'll try a 120 point holder for those.

I got the magnetic 180pt holders linked to above and they work great for both medallions and patches (even if the latter are a tiny bit loose). Now to find an appropriately sized display rack!

I got a nice display rack for my cards! This is the one I got: http://cleardisplays.com/search.php?search_query=8965&Search=

Here's my modest display corner. It'd be more but the room is a combination of my CD racks, guest bed and my oldest son's desk. Compromises must be made!

Thanks! Those aren't the unfolded ones, but I do have an unfolded Toadal. I got those frames a long time ago, They're basic plastic frames, I probably got them from an art supply store.

And no original art - it was always way too rich (and ego-infested) for my blood!

A work in progress - UPDATE 1/16/15

I purchased the UltraPro Double Booklet One-Touch form my local Hobby Store Stock # 82834

Initially the Medallions are a bit loose inside the case.....so...... I McGyvered it!

I took the UltraPro Card Sleeves Stock# 81126 2 5/8 x 3 5/8, and inserted my fingers and "spread" the opening just a bit..... the result it allows the Medallion to fit into the opening and leave the majority of the sleeve snug.  The benefit is that once the sleeve is on the Medallion it is slick and no wrinkles..... as you will see.....

The benefiting result is once it goes into the Double Booklet unit, it is slick and professional looking and the sleeve just enough buildup to keep the Medallion snug and no slipping and sliding and spaces the two cards side to side perfectly....

Coming Next: The Display stand to hold the babies!  8)

I started to use the Ultra Pro 8 slot (horizontal) pages that came with a variety pak of different sized pages.
The ANS11 patches slid right out! They actually fit better on the regular 9 card vertical pages, though pretty tight.
I'm now using the vertical 6 slot page which keeps them from sliding out but that is still a possibility.
The regular 9 slot page would fit all of the patches(if I get there) on one page, so visually better.

I ended up using the UltraPro One Touch (130pt) for the ANS11 Patches and the UltraPro Double Booklet One Touch (1878pt) for the 2014 Series 1 Medallions' the medallions were tricky. I took an UltraPro Card Sleeve (2 5/8" x 3 5/8") and used my fingers to stretch the width of the sleeve holder ever so slightly.  I then inserted the Medallion Card and that gave the exact build up desired and a clean look.

Now IF IF IF you removed the Medallion Card, not greasy kiddy fingers!

The acrylic stands look awesome by the way - Just have not purchased any - I will send some pics tomorrow of my displays
