Just thought of something here.

Should 2027's real name be Pokemon Go/Band-Aid Brand Adhesive Bandages? After all, its Wacky name, according to the checklist, is Pokemon Go Band-Aids.

Just wondering...

Starting another one:

*STP Oil Treatment (1115).

These need to be done, too:

*Windex Glass Cleaner with Ammonia-D (211 & 482; 2040, however, stays the way it is....

I keep trying to understand your point on so many of these and I must admit it eludes me. Why do you find “Windex Glass Cleaner” not to be an adequate real product name?

If you look at the pictures in lostwackys.com, this is the 1970s name of Windex. After the 1970s, "...with Ammonia-D" was dropped.

In other words, I'm using the full names of all the products as they were or are at the time and as stated on the product, especially the ones that are no longer around anymore, since very few people (if any) would remember them at all.

But what is your definition of “full name?” Just because a tag line appears on the packaging doesn’t necessarily make it part of the “name.” In the case of Windex, why isn’t “Easy Grip Plastic Bottle” or whatever is written below the Ammonia D reference part of the name? It just seems that you are being very particular about something that has no precise definition.

Based on this variant packaging, would you say that “Ammonia D” appears to be part of the “product name?”

I think so, yes. But only that one part. The rest is just details.

Is that conclusion based on anything concrete? Because I find it hard to consider something part of a product name if it appears three inches below the main name.

More generally, my question is: since there is clearly no precise way of deciding what should be included or excluded as part of the product’s “full name,” isn’t it rather hard to view your suggested changes as “corrections?” Aren’t they really just your own opinion?

"with Ammonia-D" could be considered "just details", too. Pretty much everybody knows this product as "Windex". You don't really need anything further to define it.

I think Paul Maul has a very valid point; these "corrections" of yours are all just on your whim.

I'm not doing this on a whim at all, I just go by what's on the packages and in the pictures of the packages.

I also did a little research of my own and saw two Windex TV commercials from 1971 and 1978 on YouTube. Both times the phrase "with Ammonia-D" was mentioned and used. So yes, it was a thing back in the day.

And it's not only corrections, it's additions, too.

But as per your statements, I've removed them.

Isn't this Windex example the same as "Certs with Retsyn"? No one called it that. It was just known as Certs.

Personal opinion passed off as "fact" and especially so-called supporting "research" should never be accepted as accurate.  I hope the information below definitively puts this ridiculous discussion to rest...

1. The registered trademark symbol, ®, is a typographic symbol that provides notice that the preceding word or symbol is a trademark or service mark that has been registered with a national trademark office.  The official full name of the product since its  invention in 1933 was and always has been WINDEX.

2. I personally confirmed this with a call to S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. (800-558-5252), the current manufacturer.

3.  In 1965 Windex® changed its formula by increasing its ammonia level which had been found to increase the effectiveness of cleaning. This innovation allowed the new formula to be patented.  It was reflected in marketing and later included the added tagline "with Ammonia-D". Interestingly, the "D" merely represented the company name  "Drackett". The phrase Ammonia-D®  itself was then trademarked.

4. For additional interesting information on the history of window cleaning and Windex® see:
https://tedium.co/2017/06/13/windex-glass-cleaning-history/amp

5.  Drops the mic and walks off stage...

Just found this one.

The number of Wacky Packages Minis should be 66, not 60.

Have the missing six on the list been revealed yet? If so, they should be put in, too.

Are the stickers still the same at 10 and is there a checklist for the minis and stickers?

Saw one that was missed by me, Patrick.

*Awful Jokes (3034).

And here's two from the Non-Topps section:

*Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn (189; this is so it'll match the one in the Topps section (2805)),
*180 needs to be shortened and double-rowed to make space in the Additional Notes section that may be needed later.

Found a few c's in the Crazy Coupons and Wacky Websites section:

First, removal of unnecessary capitalization where none is needed:

*Sonny the Human Squawkman (640),
*Rope on a Rope (647),
*"The Best of Old Time Radio Static" on Cassette (666).

These are the only Crazy Coupons that need to be redone. Other than that, everything's just fine.

Second, I just may have found real names here for some of them:

*Oat Bran (667),
*International Travel (686),
*Chatty Cathy (687),
*Crazy Straw (701),
*Lincoln Logs (731),
*Uncle Milton's Ant Farm (3810; before you ask, yes, this is a real product),
*Topps Gummy Bears (3812),
*Serial Killer Picture Cards (3813).

These are just the ones I could find and that I figured out. If you can find any others, be my guest. Otherwise, do with this information what you will.

Patrick, I'd like to do something for you, but I need your help.

I figure you're probably having trouble with Replies #939 and 1065, so I'd like to help you by starting off with PMing you half of #939 so you don't have to keep going back to it, and then doing the other half when you're done with the first half. I'd then do the same thing with #1065.

However, if you've got both of those Replies and the one in Reply #1092 under control, please let me know that, too, so I know whether to do this or not.

Thanks!

And dare I hope the three Wonder Bread series'll be put in as well, just like the Shedd's and the Hostess Doubles? That's practically all that's left.

Patrick - I noticed you've been working hard on the spreadsheet, expanding the 'Non-Topps' tab and creating a 'Bootleg' tab. I don't think there's been any uncovering of missing items, right? Just 2020 and 2021 additions?

I look at it now and then to make sure I haven't missed anything. Today I just noticed there's some new GPK/Wacky mash-ups coming, hadn't heard about those.

Thanks so much for all your efforts!

I'm always a bit behind on getting it all up to date, but that's actually a good thing, as it's because we've been getting a lot of new Wackys to add to the list.

About the only thing I 'added' were the Shedd's/Wonder/Hostess cards. I have a soft-spot for the Shedd's cards, so put those in, and then did the others to round it out.

it does seem like GPK/Wacky mashups are here to stay in the GPK releases. And there's going to be two sets of 10 in the Food Fight set coming out in a couple weeks.

Yes, I noticed those three sets. Very good additions, indeed!

I've only got one question. I noticed all three of them are in alphabetical order according to company (i.e., Hostess, Shedd's and Wonder Bread). Was that intentional or should they be in chronological order? Just wondering (no pun intended here).
