2014 series 1 printing plate mapping
« on: November 06, 2014, 09:25:04 AM »
Printing plates are one of the hardest things to get and it seems to me they only tend to show up in certain places that im to understand are "case cities/ towns"  this post is my experiment to not only see where the boxes come from but also where they go.
I think they all start in pa at topps but id like to track how they migrate

If anyone is interested in helping my experiment just post what plate you have or seen on line for sale, where you are and where you got it from.
Just plate ,state where you are and state the box/ case came from
Thank you all in advance for your participation

They weren't that hard to get in series 10 or 11. They were inserted in the collector box packs. I think I ended up with around 7. I also have still retained 3 different color Reepers. Really cool seeing these together. I still haven't found the blue plate. I was planning to get them all so when the magenta showed up on eBay I think I paid around $400 for it. Still my favorite from the series.

How many boxes/ cases did you buy also were the all part of the initial release(by that i mean pre ordered or ordered within the first month of the release)
See i think theoretically most plates are shipped in the begining and become more scarce as the box/ case numbers start thinning out

These were collector cases only and not the retail or hobby cases. I got at least one or two in each case.

Also, for some reason the chrome and OLDS5 plates are backwards. I don't know why either. Backwards makes sense but why were the other ones facing the right direction?

I think what Brad is saying is that the Chrome printing plates are flipped left to right and questions why previous plates weren't.  He's correct and it is a bit of a puzzle.  Maybe Rob Palmer or someone else with printing experience can explain it.

I stand corrected. It was only the chrome plates that are backwards or flipped.

Sorry, but I'm confused.  Since the plates are only in collector boxes/cases, which are not available at retail, how does mapping who pulls them where help?

Im doing this to see how dispersion works because from the information ive accrued so far it appears that most plates end up in the middle of the us

Is that, perhaps, in releases where the plates are in the retail boxes? It seems like the Collector cases/boxes could end up wherever the biggest buyers are... like Brad and mutigers77.   ;)

That's what I was trying to ask, too.  And with large distributors involved, even plates in retail packs could be impossible to track - with Flashback 2, I bought a case and blister packs, bonus boxes, etc. from Lockwood, so my pulling two plates on the east coast really didn't have any relevance location-wise.
