Scored a four card sketch set out of one of my two Collector boxes. They line up horizontally. Pretty cool to pull this four card set and another Smokin Joe Sketch and a Plate out of the same box.  I got three golds out of two boxes One Lost Wacky and one auto. No medallions or Red Luds.
I purchased the Demented Variation and Regular Medallion off the bay today so it all worked out. I really wanted a Medallion out of my boxes. Instead I got some of the coolest sketches I have ever pulled. I guess that would be called a "Loaded" pack right?

nice score!! except i raise you - I scored 2 medallions - the RARE ones - in 2 boxes & a SMOKIN' Joe Sketch & a RED LUD!!! Great PULLS!!!
Why did they RE-GAG some of the products they had already done - i think the original ones were good...seems like a stretch to me...
IE Stench - was done again - George's WAS AWESOME - why re-do it??

A quick observation on eBay and not a lot of Series 1 is selling. I see just a handful of sets and a bunch of golds.

That is just fantastic. Are you planning on keeping it? I kind of wish the panels were in a 2X2 grid instead of straight across because it would look nicer in a binder.

That is amazing!  Incredible pull.  Certainly one of the very coolest sketch(es) I have ever seen.  Smokin' Joe's sketches are always stellar, but he really outdid himself this time!

I had asked this before the forum upgrade, but now I can't find where the post went.  Anyways, does anyone know who painted "The Loraxed"?  I halfway suspect it might be a lost 90s Wacky.

Well I can't tell you who painted it but I can tell you it's a new one and the gag is by the great Mark Parisi.

Joe, I love your new avatar!  Particularly the way the troll's cudgel wiggles as he brings it down.  Great wacky and great touch on the animation!

Elizabeth, thanks so much!  It was a blast painting it and fun animating it.  I have to thank Pat and Brad for posting it.  It took awhile to get it playing.

I just saw on eBay that Card Gary's has another awesome 4 piece puzzle this time by Joe Simko.  I wonder if all the loaded packs are puzzles?

That would make sense. Here is a nice puzzle/combo-sketch set by John Monserrat that I saw on ebay last night...

Joe, Great job on the animation.. If I could only find out how to get my lando animation back. I am amazed at how many artists are now involved with 2004 series 1. I'm glad Topps gives credit to all.

Here is one by Joe Simko that is not really a puzzle, but different scenes on the same theme.

I think it is a 4-puzzle indeed, but it is just placed in the wrong order by the seller.... I tried to get the image straight and this is what i think it should look like :)

I also think that this 4-panel would look better when you put it in panoramic setting :)

Ahhh, The artistic eye !!  One of the unfortunate consequences of smartphones with cameras... we used to get better sketch card reproductions on ebay auctions when more people used scanners. Progress marches on.  :-\

Those two puzzles are spectacular!  Joe Simko's work on his set is fantastic!

Vincenzo did you do any puzzles for WP 2014?

I noticed Joe Simko has changed or evolved his style for the sketch cards in  this release somewhat. The lines are bolder than most of his previous sketches and a different shading technique, especially noticeable on noses, beaks, etc. That's one of the cool things about having some of the same artists involved over several releases. Its really interesting to see these changes over time. Here are a couple of examples...

I really like Simko's work on this set too, I wish I had one! haha...

Yes, I also made a few puzzle cards for this set(4 in total)... I saw that one of the four was listed on ebay(Gadzooka), but the listing has ended, I guess somebody must have bought it already?

I will post the image  ;)

Just Purchased the last card I wanted for this series. I ended up purchasing 2 Collector Boxes and some Retail packs from Target.
I could not find the value Packs at 8 different Targets. I have changed my collecting strategy this around. I have done some trading to complete my base set ; but its a mixture of all the different borders to comprise the 110 card set : Black, Alternate pattern, Gold, Silver and Red plus the 20 card TT and RR .  I got two bonus cards from my boxes and purchased the other 6 as well as B1 and B2 from dealers. I will buy B3 and 4 when they surface. I got one lost wacky from my boxes and purchased the other two. I kept the four card sketch set I scored and sold my other one. I purchased Two Medallions (Demented Reg and vari) and One Patch (Jelly Bully). I kept the one auto (Furbeast) , one plate (Skitzles-cyan) and two Black Luds and Two Pencil Drawings I found in my boxes. I may purchase a Red Lud later but not sure about that. I basically wanted to have one of most of the different types of cards in the set.

I think this is the best set I have seen in years. The humor and art are top notch with not too much potty stuff. I hope this set sells well and they keep it going. Now where is my binder?????   Also,  I am having trouble seeing the detail on the cards these days. I am going to have to spend some time with a magnifying glass to really take in all the details that are present this time around.

Many thanks to Topps and The Artists for a great release!

Andrew

Sorry for a few quick questions:

Is Toys R Us going to have anything available for the new series?

I'm sure it may have been listed here before, but what are the possible
medallions that are available, i.e. a checklist?

And is there just one patch (Garbage Pail Geezers) as well?
