Snoopy,

Can you elaborate on exactly what they showed and said? I have no clue as to what this release will consist of.

I am still waiting for a Peanuts/Charlie Brown/Snoopy related Wacky Package to show up in a future Wacky Packages All New Series and/or Wacky Packages Old School series (For the yet to be released by this Summer 2014 Wacky Packages OS5 I am still hoping for the Dolly Madison Zingers spoof calling it "Stingers" to make it into sticker form based on the drawing the late Gary Browning a/k/a Head and Boulders did!)

this sounds really strange .  arent wacky packages spoofs of packages ???? so what will this be spoofs of star wars characters ? then how would that be wacky packages ???

The "Lightsabers" title in All-New Series 10 is a Star Wars-themed Wacky Package.

I assume that the gag is on SW packaged toys and products and not of characters.

Thanks for posting this. Looks like its pretty much what most of expected (a good thing) in terms of grocery items spoofed with the parody involving a Star Wars character, location, vehicle, etc. But its nice to see some examples to verify that.

One of the large 2010 Star Wars conventions had cereal parody box incentive give-aways that were, IMHO, very well done. (see the link below to the discussion of these here in the forum). It looks like the new WP release will be similar but not restricted to cereal, of course.

Interesting.  I wasn't sure if this was a real product or just a belated April Fool's joke.  I do think it sounds kinda intriguing and I'll be curious to learn more.  It's been so long since there has been a Wacky release and we now have four planned, but none before the end of July.  I wish they would be a little more spaced out.

looks like it's mostly cgi art? kind of like the recent prequel movies

Can't say I care for it much at all.

But which will get released first: Wacky Packages All New Series 12 (2014 series) or Wacky Packages Star Wars edition. I may even throw in Wacky Packages Old School Series 5.

I can see where this release won't be everyone's cup of tea. I am thinking that Topps is betting the number of Star Wars fans that buy this set will vastly out number the Wacky Package fans who decide to pass.

I actually thought of Star Wars Wacky Packages a long time ago. Below is a list of parodies I came up with. Some are obscure and only Star Wars die-hards would understand the jokes.

Bigg's Red chewing gum
Greetos
Mr. Bibble bubble bath
RanCor frozen dinners
Pal Maul cigarettes
Sith Miss Cocoa
Barqin's root beer
Duros-cell batteries
Jabba Squad paper towels (or Top Jabba cleaner)
PO-5 shampoo
Armored Hoth Dogs
Anakin aspirin
Lando Likes butter
Slim Jinn snacks
Leia's potato chips
Moff's apple sauce

Some great ones there... It would be cool to see some of these worked up like Sith Miss, Lando Likes, and Armored Hoth Dogs.

yeah, some of those titles are brilliant!

Wow those are great! "Lando Likes butter" is exactly the same type of simple, quick and "to the point" humor of Wacky OS.

I guess I'm not the SW fan I thought I was, cause I don't get the following titles:

Mr. Bibble bubble bath
Barqin's root beer
Duros-cell batteries

I'm guessing they are character's last names that aren't mentioned prominently.

I only saw the word "sticker" mentioned for the 4 bonus titles. The article mentions "cards" a lot... However until we see something official from Topps, who knows.

I like the idea of Star Wars Wackys, however these just don't look like Wackys to me. The black borders don't follow the product's outer edges, and the characters are all outlined in black. A no-no for Wackys. Makes them look too cartoonish.

Yeah...the artwork style and borders looks a little different than traditional Topps. Reminds me of Pranky Products or Silly Supermarket.

Yep..Some of mine are a reach. People might not get the Logaine parody that was shown as one the official sample cards. The character's name in The Empire Strikes Back is Lobot and he is bald.

More info just released.
Looks like it *is* a Sticker set.

While I like Wackys and Star Wars, the look/art/jokes do nothing for me. It's a PASS.

Estimated Release Date: 9/17/14

The 2014 Topps Star Wars Wacky Packages base set has 100 cards. This includes 50 different card fronts, each with two different backs. Flip sides include a mix of puzzles, ads, coupons and checklists. Parallels include Blue (one per pack), Gold (1:8 packs), Printing Plates and Gold Star Field (#/10).

Reality TV (ten cards, 1:2 packs) puts a Star Wars spin on ten shows we're familiar with. For Star Tours fans, there are ten Travel Posters (1:4 packs) that tackle top tourist destinations in the Star Wars Universe. Coloring Cards (1:6 packs) offer line art from ten base cards that collectors can color as they see fit. Fold-Out Comic Book Ads (1:12 packs) take a retro-styled approach to create over-sized inserts.

Four Bonus Stickers can be found exclusively in hobby boxes.

I had to double check that date to confirm it wasn't posted on April 1st. I'm not sure how I feel about this, though I'm sure my kids will love it.
