Was it a buy it now? Maybe and over anxious newbie. If it was not a buy it now and the start bid was $375, then my guess is that it was a shill by the seller to "get the auction going". In browsing auctions a week or so ago, I saw someone who listed some run of the mill middle series sets and mysteriously all of his auctions had bids on them within the first few hours. I believe shilling is rampant on ebay at this point.
This card was put up at auction with .99 starting bid, and then a few days later, it was cancelled. It was then relisted, and the bid history says $375 was a buy it now. The The thing with this auction is that it is very difficult to tell the condition from the pictures posted due to the fact that it is on a white background with shadows & it's not even a scan but a picture. Would you be able to estimate a grade for this from the pics? I think paying top dollar for this card with the poor pictures is a total gamble on its condition. That's what shocked me. The buyer doesn't appear to be a newbie - 4546 feedbacks with about 25 open bids in the "collectibles>animation" category.
