Who, what, when, why and how?
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:44:53 AM »
OK, so I go to logon to Greg's forum for the first time this year and I get a message that there's a new forum...so I google Wacky Packs Forum and I find this... Is this not Greg's forum? If not...who...who..WHO?

As many of you wacky-os probably already know...I know a few things about changing wp forums...

Sincerely,

Tommy Truant

Hey Tom! I started this forum. Greg's forum was having a few hiccups in late Feb/early March. We thought maybe Greg was going to take the site down over his rage against Topps. It was a long story but anyway I decided to start this forum and it's been very popular. There hasn't been any fighting in 2 months. New record :D
Good to see you here!

Brad, I applaud you for your effort with this. I know what a difficult (and thankless) job it is to build and run a forum. Not sure if you remember when I did it, or even when I was the SysOp of Delphi, but it wasn't easy. Getting paged at 3am...keeping things alive in the slow year of 2000 with 20,000 posts (almost, but at least they were quality posts...), being the only one in the hobby that admited liking the "Beat Goes On" book more than the Handbook, etc, etc. In short, I made a better SysOp than Admin. Admin's are best off sticking to their forum rules and staying out of heated discussions (like John Mann did with a lot of class from 1998 to 2001). Staying out of heated discussions was my vice...I just had to speak for the "silent majority" and "call it as I saw it" when nobody else had the balls to. Anyway..I'll step off my soap box now... I have mellowed somewhat in my older (wiser) age.

But I know that "Some of us here, particularly me, would like to buy you a drink and shake your hand."

Thanks for the kind words. Actually it hasn't been bad at all other then GoDaddy's bandwidth and server issues.

That would be great. Even better would be Phil (Dr. Wacky). That guy was my idol back in the early Delphi days (ok, now I can admit it).

It's impossible to stay away from this hobby for long. It's in our blood. Being reminded of wackys every time we are at the supermarket (instead of seeing brand names correctly we see Tied, CapnCrud, Kook Aid, etc.) helps a little too...
