ANS 3 Special Edition Jay Lynch Art Cards

I just purchased the Watchemacrawlit ANS 3 Special Edition Jay Lynch Art Card (OK it's a sketch card but Art Card does have a nice ring to it) on eBay and curious how many forum members own one of these.

I saw that auction but I didn't know that Jay drew on the backs of these cards. He only showed the front of the cards so I thought it might be one of those unscored cards that Topps has sold in the past.
I don't know for sure if all of these sketch cards were sold on ebay but i only remember a couple of them so they are pretty scarce.

Brad, you're right the auction was worded strangely.  It almost seemed the seller thought the printed card was Jay's art.  But it was one of Jay's cards and has the art on the back.  The illustration is of two of Jay's Nitwits telling a knock, knock joke about Santa.

I think you got a great deal and that is one of the better ones, in my opinion. I can't remember the characters off hand but there were a couple floating around for about a year or so that eventually sold. I don't think those were are nice as the one you got.

that's right there were only a few sold on ebay...what did he pay for his??didn't see the auction?

Hustler it was $139.  It was the third time the person had listed it.  I believe the first time he was asking $179.

Do you remember what they were fetching at the time? I wasn't collecting sketch cards at the time so I didn't have much interest in them.

I was hoping they were captured by Greg, but I don't seen anything on his site.

my memory is fuzzy, but maybe a $60 to $120 range for most of them?

I recall thinking at the time that many were selling for far less than I thought they should go for, considering they were full color and coming from toppsvault.

Most of 'em had Wacky characters from that O.S. series on 'em.  But some of the products parodied in that series didn't have pix of characters on 'em.  So on those, I put the two moron characters discussing the product.

Jay, the art and design on these are wonderful.  Were these the first sketch cards you did for Topps?  I assume these took a bit more time than standard sketches.

I remember thinking when they came out that there were about the coolest thing outside of owning an original painting.  I got the Hopeless fruit pie one, though I don't recall what I paid (I would guess around $75).  Despite the proliferation of sketch cards thees days, I think these are every bit as cool as most any color sketch card.  I haven't noticed one for sale on ebay (though I haven't been looking), but compared with what I've seen of colored sketch cards, these babies ought to be going for $300 or so.

Jay, I received my copy of the Bazooka Joe book today.  Just finished reading it cover to cover and you're right the gags are lame, forgettable and wonderful.  The book is great and something any Topps fan should have.  The introduction by Wesley Morse's son is a real treat!

These are dated 2006, and Old School 1 wasn't until 2009, so I figure they're the first Topps produced sketch cards.

I only have one of them, #9 LifeSavings.  You did an awesome job on it!  Sorry the scans aren't sharp, think the plastic case is the problem there.

That's pretty cool that they are probably the first Topps Wacky sketches. 

I've had that same problem scanning in PSA cases and usually resort to using my digital camera instead.  The scanning always focuses on the outside layer that is on the glass, not what's on the inside.

Another very cool ANS 3 art card has showed up on eBay.  The sellers asking price is outrageous but it's a cool card and worth checking out, nevertheless.
