Yeah, One motherload was in Colorado but the rest in PA.  I suspect ex topps employees who took unused uncut sheets or partial sheets home or batches of undistributed stickers.  David Saunders gave me a bunch of early series partial uncut sheets that his dad got a hold of either by picking the garbage or Topps gave them to him.

How can they list a series 13 whiteback set without showing scans of the backs?  I hope the buyer got scans before they bid.  It could be from the batch of sheets that had significant staining issues on the back.

...and as I suspected, this guy has more 13th whites to unload as more are up now.  This is why I only put a couple of token bids on the first round of stickers.

I remember my cousins used to have a whole folder full of what I thought they said were "salesman samples" of Wackys, but later realized were probably just chopped up uncut sheets.  They used to let me peel off the ones I needed & stick 'em on backs.  As a kid, I didn't care about 're-stucks'.  If I had the sticker, I could check it off my list.  I would even peel them off my friend's dresser sometimes (with permission of course).  I wish I'd grabbed just one of those sheets my cousins had, though, just so I could see what they were.  I remember them being white-back, plain, with no special writing on them.  3rd series was the one I remember most.

Yup, another PA stash of 13th whitebacks to hit the market, only this time, it will flood the market.  The seller obviously doesn't seem aware that announcing that 170 of these are about to hit ebay will curtail the sales prices on these.

Ready! Aim (at foot)! Fire!!

These are not in great shape, to say the least, so I don't see them going for large dollars, anyway...

no win situation. hide how many you've got and get called shady and deceptive and only out to squeeze $$ from buyers. tell everyone how many you've got and get called stupid for not trying to squeeze $$ from buyers.

The seller can release 4 at a time every week with no mention of quantity.  Seller is not obligated to state they are sitting on 170.  As long as piecemealing 4 at a time doesn't come with a statement stating those are his only ones, I think it would still be on the up and up.

The photos of the backs actually look tan to me.  The white backs normally do not have the scoring rings/lines on the back.  I wish he could post some better photos.

I see what you mean. the backing on Bum's Life has slipped a bit and you can see small slivers of the pure white sticker showing in the upper left/lower right. it make the backs look like they are pure tan.

I saw this, too, but figured it was just me or my monitor playing tricks.   or treats.

And no where does the seller state that the other 170 are all 13th white-backs.

Great point.  Besides, it's always the buyer's responsibility to research an item (as to rarity, etc.) before buying it.  It's only devious of a seller to list an item as 'real' if it's 'fake', or 'rare' if it's 'common'.  But there's nothing wrong with someone listing items one by one if they actually found 100's of them.  That's called a lucky find!  And the proof of that is that if he found 100, but only ever sold 1, it still WOULD be technically just as rare to the general population (since the other 99 aren't available).  Once they start becoming available, then the rarity gradually adjusts.  The attitude that someone who has a great find should suddenly price each item as if they were all already out there on the market is one that usually comes from those at the top who don't want to see anyone else succeed and who get offended when the less wealthy are better at finding the cool stuff than they are.  This used to be a common point of contention in the old days, I remember.  Fair trade & integrity have many different styles.  But I tend to favor rewarding good detective work over thick wallets.  Being able to outbid anyone is not an actual 'skill'.  It's in the same category of driving a really big truck (if you know what I mean).

So, you're saying that driving a really big truck doesn't take skill???

uhhh... just in case you're serious, and drive a big truck, and have a crossbow, I was more going for that "dudes who drive big trucks are making up for small other things" myth.

I agree.......those certainly don't look white to me!  The question is whether the seller intentionally tried to make the pics look white by playing with them with image software.  I would ask for a better scan/pic before I bid.

in the pic I posted above, I did a simple 'white correction', and those card backs come out a solid tan relative to the white of the sticker.
It'd be cool if there really were a ton of white backs so everyone could get a type card for their collection, but I seriously doubt it now.

It would be cool, and I don't think that quantity would flood the market too much.  It would allow several people who wanted one for their collection to get one, which would be nice.  Too bad they are probably tans.
