Ebay auctions to avoid

This seller seems to be far from stable, buyer beware.  Below is the beginning of dialogue that got increasingly viral all because I simply pointed out there are borderless stickers in the lot and wanted an inventory of them.

Dear bandaches-yahoo,

These are in great condition , you can see quite clearly through pictures. If these are not for you don't waste my time or yours with ridiculous emails.

Dear coppertoneblonde,

A bunch of these look to be in poor condition with the border around the sticker that would have the copyright being torn away such as Mrs Klean, Fink and Cover Ghould. How many others are in poor condition like this? What color are the backs? Any writing or dirt on the backs?

Thanks for the heads up. A seller using the phrase "...don't waste my time" is never a good sign.

That would be interesting, let me know the results.  When you review the auction, you will see I am right, there are borderless stickers in the lot and there doesn't seem to be scans of all of the extras.

I looked it over you are right.  they are far from perfect.  However we are assuming that his guidelines for grading are as rigid as ours.   ;D

I am not critiquing the word perfect, there are BORDERLESS STICKERS in this lot that she hasn't called out.

The numerous spelling/grammatic errors alone would make me shy away from this seller.  She clearly has no idea what Wackys are, how to grade them, or what a collector would consider important.  Still, the Bandache alone might be worth going after, if it isn't all screwed up on the back somehow.  But apparently she's not interested in supplying that info, so buyer beware!

To simplify things, I asked the seller how many stickers have a copyright on the front. That will tell us how many are borderless. Here are the replies:
PS. Whoever wins it, I want one of those Mutts!! :)

---------
I am not sure what you mean...but all but 2 have " T.C.O made & printed in the U.S.A", and what looks like the copyright symbol in front of the T.C.O,

the writting is incredibly small, I have a hard time making out T.C.O and the copyright symbol..i assume that is what you are looking for??

The 2 that do not have this in the bottom right hand corner are ;Cover Ghoul and Fink

hope this helps!

----------

I missed Mrs. Klean , i have 2 of the Mrs. Klean cards...1 of them does not have the writing in the bottom right hand corner...so that would be a total of 3 cards

So she simply could have said "yes" to my question where I called out all three of those already and hence her reply says that none of the extras not pictured are missing the copyrights.  She is still under the dillusion that all of these are in great condition.

Your email wasn't rude or threatening so she shouldn't have responded that way.  Like you said buyer beware.

I then asked about the condition of the backs, if there was any writing, discoloration, etc:
--------

look the same color on the front, no writing.

Also - how sure are that those stickers in the sleeves haven't bled through the years and might be stuck in there...that happened to me once..she should take one out to show the back as well...seems like a BITTER person...something might be up..

Although their are a couple that are missing the borders and some cards look to be about VG condition. If someone gets this for $100 it would be a good start to a value collection. Something for someone just starting out or for someone to fill some holes. I've seen a lot worse go for higher over the years.
I also think with all the excitement over the new stuff the OS is taking a bit of a back seat. Now is probably a good time to fill some OS needs.

Totally agree, all of those lots of what appears to be high grade stickers with some hard to find(although crushed) display boxes went for pretty low prices compared to old standards.  If I didn't have all those display boxes already, I probably would have bid.  As I mentioned in the pretty much dead "collection" thread, I scored a Blunder shirt for less than $30 on ebay so clearly this new stuff has created some great original series stuff buying opportunities.

As for this lot, $100 is a good price if the seller doesn't become a pain in the ass to deal with.

That last auction went for $128 - not bad..seems to be what its worth...given Bandaches and PM. There were 4 missing borders...

I did snag one of those high grade sticker lots..but w/o the box..how much are some of those boxes worth?? even in such ripped condition..I thought some went pretty high - i discounted the box and checklists..mainly focused on the stickers..

Tough to price boxes these days as demand seems down but they are super cool and scarce.  Even crushed ones can be filled with styrofoam and plastic wrapped to look great in a display cabinet.
