I'd be glad to take you, my health has actualy been great lately, except for some (minor) gout attacks & my kidneys, I have pemanent joint dammage so I'll probably never walk right again...but at least I can walk! Life is SWEEEEEET!!! Your WACKY friend...RonZ 8)

Yes, new show is Sat/Sun, old show included Friday which was much more convenient for many of us. I have a harder time giving up Saturdays for these shows.

This would be my 1st show attendance. For me, I have much better of a chance for getting Saturday's off than a Friday. I think I will definately have to check out that pinball place too but again, that would have to be either later on Saturday or possibly the next day Sunday. Hopefully I will be able to get off of work and then I look forward to meeting and trading with you guys. If I do get to go, I am brining my Wacky Guitar so Ron and I can jam !!

I would be up for going back to the pinball show on May 1 after the non-sport show if my schedule stays open. You may want to check on the pinball schedule for Sunday to make sure they don't start tearing the place down early. I think greg likes to invite people(except for me of course) to his place which is an 45-60 min away from the Allentown show on the Saturday so my guess is that the group will be dispersed a bit as some will go home Saturday after the show, some will want to hang out near the show area and not make the trip to greg's. The pinball show is barely 5 minutes away from the non-sport show.

Let me know if you plan to arrive Friday to do the Pinball show. My guess is that Brian L, Cheryl, John G(confirmed), me will be there on Friday as we have traditionally done. I can only do dinner if we do an early dinner like 5:00 as I need to be in Hoboken by 7:30 for a concert(Pat McGee Band) at Maxwells. I will come back on Saturday to the non-sport show and see what people are doing that afternoon.

I definately will not be able to get Friday AND Saturday off. I will be lucky to get Saturday off IF I can. I hope! Sunday is easy for me to get off from work, but figures it's not the better day for either of the events.

Binders will officially be ready? I didn't realize that. Is the price basically what is on the website without shipping or are their further discounts/incentives to buy bulk in person? Be careful, he may leave the show with zero Old School boxes remaining for the public :-)

Well that was scary! I have an "intestinal infection" they said w/my weak imune system it was a good thing I came to the Hospital, the Doctor told me without the antibiotics it probably would have killed me! I'm feeling 100% better than I was just a little while ago (probably the morphine! LOL :])...See you all at the "show" All my Wacky best & greatful to be alive!!!!...RonZ 8)

He (The Reaper) has been chasing me my whole life! Seriously I've had about 15 near death experiences since I was 8 years old that's when I got into a head on collision w/a car on my bicycle, almost drowned, the list goes on & on. Hopefully I will see you in a couple of weeks! Your WACKY friend...RonZ 8)

We will need to do a last minute real head count on who is attending, when they will be in town and such. My plans are still to play pinball Friday, head to Hoboken Friday night for a concert, sleep at home Friday night, head back to Allentown on Saturday for the show and then open to what happens after that as the show itself may prove to be borning about 2 hours after wandering around. There is usually trading at the tables by the cafe.

Oh you know it! This time, it will be video-taped via cell phone camera. I think maybe I will cut in front of him for the main line to get into the show since he will accuse me of sneaking in early anyway.....anyone see a theme there? When greg was a kid, did his peers cut in front of him in line at the cafeteria or something? What is with his obsession with worrying about cutting in line whether it be for food or to get into a show? I wonder if he is one of those people who refuses to adhere to alternating traffic when a lane is closed on the highway? Sounds like a high blood pressure situation waiting to happen!

My plans have changed. I didn't realize the pinball show doesn't start until 4:00 PM on Friday and I need to be at a concert in Hoboken at 7:30 pm Friday night so that bags playing pinball on Friday. I will do the non-sport show Saturday and then at some point when the trading gets stale, head over to the pinball show Satuday afternoon and play pins til it closes 9:00 Sat night.

Tom, as someone who had heart valve surgery five years ago, I totally understand how things like this can lay you up a bit. Your wife has the right idea. Take care, my friend.

You had a heart attack and didn't mention it here? Wow, you're a trooper! Did you require surgery? My mom had heart surgery a few months ago.

Many thanks to all who expressed their concern for my health and to a recovery. It is greatly appreciated...and likely, as well.
I didn't mention it because, as you've all likely noticed, I don't bring my personal life into the board much, if at all. It was a relatively mild attack (obviously), but there was some damage, of course. I was at work, didn't feel well, my wife picked me up and took me to an Urgent Care place, then to the ER. I was in surgery and done within about 4 hours of the initial pain. I was told this helped minimize muscle damage.
They went in through my femoral artery and placed two stents in a main artery near my heart. As the doctor works, he is watching a screen that shows vessels, arteries, heart, etc. and it is being recorded. He played it back for me (when he was done) to show me what the stents did. I saw my heart beating and the artery in question leaving the heart and then basically disappearing due to the clot(s). The stents go in place and the artery immediately just "appears"/"lengthens" like a water hose filling. It was incredible to watch! I was in the hospital for less than 72 hours then home since. I've just begun cardiac rehab and the doc believes with a diet and exercise change (along with medications), I'll be fine. The rehab will help restrengthen my heart and losing some weight will help overall, of course.
Maybe someday, I'll need to change my avatar, 'cause I won't look like that so much anymore, LOL.

So, the question has never really been answered. Who is going to the Philly show? I'd like to make a list of all who is attending so that I can meet as many forum members as possible without just walking right on by. This is my first one, do folks wear name tags?

I wonder how he got more than one of these! I'm sure he's keeping one for his personal collection. This card is getting farther and farther from my reach. I only hope the Topps Online Store produces more of them and offers them as a freebie when ordering. If they do, I'm sure the back side will be different from the Philly version.

I figured out a simple way to ethically get even more by just offering to buy uninterested people's cards. That said I have 5 extra that will go to the first 5 people that post in this thread. There are other people that have picked up extras as well that may be willing to help out, but please, one per person as there is a limit to how many forum members were able to get. I will have to charge $7 to cover paypal fees and postage, others may want to charge a little more but I only paid around $5 a piece for the ones I got. Some notes from the show:
Really good vibe with everyone, thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with the folks I already knew as well as meeting folks whom I hadn't hooked up with before!
As usual, there were relatively slim pickens from the dealers, I found a few deals in getting some series 16 puzzle pieces for $3(non right side), and good prices on Runaway, Mess Clairol, Windhex and a few others in that category. My "find" for the show was finally getting a Stench Berries Sketch and an extra Wanderbread color to be used to trade to get other sketches I need. I was surprised that any dealer had sketches so this made my show for me!
Trading was less feverish than previous years mainly because 1/2 of us took off to the pinball show and others seemed to need to leave in the middle of the afternoon. With good turnouts like this show, the tables we do our trading are quite inadequate so we should consider moving to an unused store space.
Pinball show was a bit lame as the crowd was larger and it seemd more machines weren't set up with free credits so I spent an equal amount of time waiting to play games as actually playing.
Sorry I missed the dinner hangout gang, I had to tend to my wife freaking out about our youngest Pug seeming to be ill. I was pretty wiped out by that point anyway and wouldn't have survived two more hours until dinner. Baby Pug is fine and it seems the extreme heat and humidity got to her. Thanks to all who wished her well!

Do any of you people have a life? Seems not since all yous do is talk sh** on people. I bought extras of the promo so why does it matter what I do with them. Would you rather have me be greedy and keep all of them? I put one up so collectors that can't make it to the show have a chance to buy one.
I was goi g to list it for $10 and put it up for $19 and uped the price since people bitched I had it up for too low of a price.
I spent a lot of money at the show so don't see what's wrong with trying to make some back. Also I paid for the promos.
By the way I don't eat mcdonalds.
I far from greedy. I've spent so much money in this hobby like the rest of you. If I do make a profit it goes right back into the hobby to buy more cards.
If you don't have anything nice to say then keep your mouth shut. I never ripped anyone off in this hobby and don't understand why people always have something negative to say about me. All I do is help other collectors out.

This was my first show attendance and the Topps table had a 24pk box of FB2 on the table with the top off showing the unopened pack contents. Well, I said to them, it wouldn't be right today if I don't open up any wacky's, so I asked, are the FB2 packs the usual 2 dollar price. The man said, they are not for sale ! :o Just for display ! I said no way. He was very nice and said go ahead and open a pack if you want, but you can't take the cards. I said, naaah that's alright then - I'd probably pull a gold or plate or something crazy and be tortured. Then he said, if I did pull one of those I could keep it! So I gave it to my girl to open (as she has opened many of these with me at home) and everyone cracked up when she saw no Gold or Plate she said out loud, that was a dud ! :D Priceless wacky moment.

We stepped out for lunch right up the street at Queens diner and when I got back I was surprised to hear that Ron had already left. Sorry didn't get to talk to you longer Ron, but totally understand if you had to go. Also, hope you had a good ride home.
Ours was terrible, we got sent in wrong direction so many times it took us over 2x's the time it should of taken to arrive home! Between too much roadwork going on putting us into different lanes, very very poor signage on the roads and folks trying to give us directions, but leaving out super important info - we we're derailed at least 5 or 6 times. Yes we should of had a map (lent it out and never got returned) and no we did not have GPS (which I hear sucks anyway). When you do realize (even if it is instantly) that you made a wrong exit or turn, you usually end up going at least 10 miles out of your way before you can U turn around just to get back to the place you were. This made our day a nightmare and we unfortunately are not in a hurry to go to Allentown again anytime soon.

I have to agree with you. I don't see what the big deal is. You paid for your items whether they be these promos, OLDS, ANS, FB or even original stickers so you can sell them for whatever you want. People don't have to buy them. I don't understand why you are getting singled out. Lots of people have bought ANS boxes or FB or OLDS and taken certain things that they want from them and then sold off other components for profit to make back some of the money they spent.
I think many collectors in this and other hobbies support their collecting by offsetting their spending with selling some stuff they don't need.
I think it's great that other collectors promised to get promos for people at cost but your not required to do this and you did not make a promise that your now reneging on.

Wow Jeff, that trip home sounds exactly like what I was afraid would happen to us in the morning! Everything was great on Long Island, but the Bronx and Manhattan are colossal pains (for me, anyway, I get nervous with all those cars in such tight spaces and with such horrible road surfaces), and the area near the George Washington Bridge in NJ is also no fun, confusion-wise. Fortunately though, things went very well once we got onto the NJ Turnpike, and after that I could relax, and the trip was actually very enoyable. I don't have a GPS either, but I had printed out directions from Mapquest, they were great, kind of like the old Trip Tiks (?) that my mom used to get from AAA. As a result, I am likely to make the trip again. While the nightmare is fresh in your mind, take a look at what Mapquest would have told you - maybe with those detailed directions, you'd be willing to give it another try.
Our trip home was uneventful, but after dropping off Elizabeth it took me an hour just to get onto and over the Throg's Neck Bridge, a 10 mile trip. No problem with directions, it would actually be pretty difficult to miss all the signs for Long Island, just WAY too many cars!
The one thing I will definitely try next time is borrowing an EZ Pass. Toll areas would be a lot less trouble without having to worry about what lane to get into to pay with cash. Doesn't make sense to get one myself, as this is the first time in about 15 years that I've driven off Long Island, and I don't plan on making a habit of it.

Dear Mr Turbo,
I would like to offer some advice for your future Ebay listings. When I have resold Regular Wacky Postcards I have stated in my auction that they were also available on Topps online store for more than I was selling my regular set for but the Topps store set would include a bonus card which I had kept. When you saw this listing you emailed me and asked me to stop mentioning in my listings that these postcards were available directly from the Topps website because I was hurting your sales by putting this information in the public domain. While that may be true, I do it because I would prefer not to have someone buy something from me , and then later learn that they had other options directly from Topps. Post purchase dissonance is never a good thing and we have all had it. The nasty feeling in your stomach when you think you got a good deal and then you find out you could have gone a different way.By mentioning the Topps store I feel I am promoting the Wacky Hobby and making sure that people have full knowledge of their options prior to buying from me. So if I list 5 Regular Wacky postcards for $5.00 and the Topps store will give you the set with a Bonus card for $8.00 I don't mind if three people pass on my auction and the fourth person is happy with their purchase. Then your ad could have helped the show and your card still would have sold. You listed the Old School binder but did not mention it could be purchased from Topps for much less than you price of $38 I think I recall. Maybe if you love this hobby like most of us do these comments will resonate with you.

The Merchants Square Mall is an interesting one... being in the commercial real estate biz, I've heard of Class "A" and "B" malls - even B minus - but this place was a solid "D"! Not that it took anything away from the day. The place definitely had character (and characters).

I would like to offer some advice for your future Ebay listings. When I have resold Regular Wacky Postcards I have stated in my auction that they were also available on Topps online store for more than I was selling my regular set for but the Topps store set would include a bonus card which I had kept. When you saw this listing you emailed me and asked me to stop mentioning in my listings that these postcards were available directly from the Topps website because I was hurting your sales by putting this information in the public domain. While that may be true, I do it because I would prefer not to have someone buy something from me , and then later learn that they had other options directly from Topps. Post purchase dissonance is never a good thing and we have all had it. The nasty feeling in your stomach when you think you got a good deal and then you find out you could have gone a different way.By mentioning the Topps store I feel I am promoting the Wacky Hobby and making sure that people have full knowledge of their options prior to buying from me. Where did you go to shows on Long Island? I've lived in Suffolk County since 1977, and have been to a lot of shows on the island. Used to go to the Creation shows at the Penta in NYC, too.
Funny about that mall yesterday, it has wooden floors, and sheet metal walls. I would have liked to have been able to explore the stores there. Lots of cool stuff out on display! If it weren't for the trip from home to NJ, I'd do the 2 hour drive to that mall as a special nice weather destination day.

Smithhaven Mall in Nesconset. I used to go to baseball card shows there when that hobby was still enjoyable - circa 1979-1980. I grew up in nearby Stony Brook.

You are right, that series 1 wonderbread sheet definitely looked like it washed ashore. I came across that guy because he was walking around the show trying to sell stuff to dealers there and one of my dealer friends beckoned me as he didn't want to deal with buying wackys. I bought very nice Cracked Animals and Weakies Diecuts from the guy but I couldn't buy this trainwreck sheet as he kept insisting it must be super valuable and super rare so I took him out of the show to the table of collectors and urged him to find someone there who might want it. greg kept barking out, I will give you $35 for it, don't know what ended up happening as I ducked back into the show.

I tried to hold to my word to cover the first folks to respond to my original offer to grab some for people but you have some of them covered. I have Brad, BigTomi and Sue Me covered(althought Sue me hasn't been on recently so I am not sure what is up with that). I got access to a 4th extra one and will cover Martin. If Sue me doesn't claim that one, then I will cover Head and Boulders. I mentioned to everyone that you could buy 2 extra sets, it wasn't well advertised that you could but I don't know how many people went back and bought two more.

I think you can sell anything you want for whatever price people will pay. I think we just thought it was funny when you sold the red envelope from OLDS. The funny part is that someone bought it. As long as there is a market why not.

The issue is, like the other forum, that when they are all put under one category it's hard to go back to find what is being offered. Everything get's put into bucket for you to search through. This way if you are looking to trade you go to the trade section. If you are looking just to buy go to the selling section. You may want to review both if there is something you really need quickly.

If I didn't love the hobby I wouldn't go to card shows and walk around all day in my back brace with a broken spine and drive hours and spend all the money I saved for years on cards for my personal collection. I even sold one of my cars to buy more cards, but I guess that means I don't love this hobby. Come on.
I Also buy stuff for other collectors I know if I see something they been looking for and 95% of the time I give it to them for exactly what I paid and some give extra for my time which is nice and that money also goes right back in to buy more cards.
I'm using the iPhone selling app and forgot to type in Philly show promo which I have done on previous Philly promos I sold in the past and used a base desrciption, which isn't a excuse but I was so into the show and I just wanted to get one of my extras up on eBay to give other collectors a chance to own one and was bitched at for only putting it up for $19.99 as others said these will sell for $50, sorry I can't make everyone happy.. People
emailed me on my auction And asked where it was from and I told them
from the Philly nonsports show. Also another member sent me a email weeks ago with a pic of the promo and said these will be at the show so I figured everyone knew, I told people in other states and around pa I know about coming to the show and they couldn't make it. I try and help promote it to try and get other collectors to come and some people don't want to drive that far or have other plans.
Im also helping the trading card museum promote their website and handing out promos for them and giving them in orders to get people to their site. Just selling wackys on eBay is helping the hobby. Even when my postcard sets sell for really high I take all the profits and buy more from topps, so what's wrong with that. I haven't pocketed a penny from this hobby and actually still in debt from
cards so If you think I'm making a living off this your wrong. All this has done was make me spend the money I saved for years and years and still have awhile to go till I'm debt free from
cards, but it doesn't bother me since this is what my passion is.
If you would come to my house you would see how much I love cards. I have 4 rooms in my house filled with cases, boxes and sets. I would keep everything If I could but have to sell some to get some money back. I'm sorry everyone for all the rambling but I'm soo tired of this of having to explain myself on here all the time. With the postcards I didn't know I needed to list I bought them from topps online store when the postcard says on the back where you can buy them. Most of the people that buy from me have the other series sets and I'm sure they looked at the back of the card and seen topps online store, Which I know they have and I told most of them they can buy the same thing from topps store,some
of my direct customers don't have paypal or credit cards and only send cash or money orders, does topps accept those forms of payment?. So when you list ans or os sets or boxes do you list that you bought them
from lockwood, the store or on eBay? I didn't think so.
When you buy from wholesalers or distrubtors do they tell you where they buy from? No. I feel I didn't do anything wrong when the card says on the back where it came from

There is no problem posting with an iphone or ipad the problem is when you quote someone. For some reason the scroll bar doesn't show up when you reply. I am not quite sure why. I have also updated the site to use the Tapatalk app. This app is still in beta for this forum software. The software is quite improved from the last release but it's still not perfect. Some of the quotes are working quite properly yet. You should give the app a try.

No, there is nothing wrong with the way it is now and it is much easier to navigate the buys and sells than the old forum that had everything all mixed together. I have no idea what issue Plan 9 is having but I will say I don't know of anyone who has 3 Reese's promos laying around to trade for LTLs so I suspect that is much more a factor in his not getting responses.

No I understand what you mean. My idea of the trading post poll was not to please one person but many others might want it changed. I think it should stay the way it is but I want to make sure others have a voice in it. There are others that sell and trade more frequently and might find it all lumped together easier for them. I would really like to have about 75 votes before making any type of decision. I don't want to change a forum over a few votes.

Seems to me you have mixed up angst you received elsewhere with here. DPV did tried the same crap on greg's forum to trash me and greg welcomed it with open arms. How does that equate to greg not tolerating angst?
Now the REAL question is, did you in fact write to Dr Deal and ask him to stop advertising that product can be obtained from Topps website? That would be totally uncool but I can see how actions like that are welcome by greg and matt.

Last I checked, you emailed me asking for series 1 upgrades, next thing I know you are poking me expecting a "hurricane response" related to the NFL pool. Then I get emails from folks who say you created a thread on greg's board that suggests I am at it again and randomly picked a fight with you.
Next you call Turbo greedy and most people are agreeing that he has a right to do whatever he wants.
Scary Lee often says "thats Plan9 for you" and I happen to also challenge some odd comments that Plan9 makes. Not worth crying over. We are not a bunch of pussies who can't partake in tough conversations from time to time. This is a male dominated hobby in case you forgot.
In general, this forum is very positive and it doesn't put its head in the sand that sometimes some healthy angst will kick up.

I doubt he worked for Topps. He wanted $30 for the Cracked Jerk and Weakies Diecuts. They looked pretty damn nice and he seemed to really need the money so I agreed to buy them. I asked if he had $10 change as I had two $20s and he said he has no money on him at all. I then started scrapping up singles and stuff and came up with $27, he wouldn't take $27 so we had to go find a dealer to break my second $20 so I could give him exactly $30. I couldn't bring myself to spend the piles of cash he was expecting for his ocean damaged Series 1 Wonderbread sheet though.

I have Brad, BigTomi and Sue Me covered(althought Sue me hasn't been on recently so I am not sure what is up with that). I got access to a 4th extra one and will cover Martin. If Sue me doesn't claim that one, then I will cover Head and Boulders. I mentioned to everyone that you could buy 2 extra sets, it wasn't well advertised that you could but I don't know how many people went back and bought two more.
I'm still here, just haven't had the time to post lately. Too much work, which is a good thing these days.

I think I now know why auctions by Turbo and Thejoje bug me so much. Nothing against these guys at all (Turbo, don't take this the wrong way and think you have to defend yourself, this is only my observation of your sales).
I understand that guys have to sell stuff but for me the biggest issue is the postcards. I believe the limited edition post cards have to be complete with everything you get with a LE postcard such as the sketch, certificate, bio cards, & special insert. I see auctions where they sell all the pieces individually and totally destroy the whole package. Maybe I am wrong here but I like to get everything with a LE set. Maybe people are used to subsets and such with special inserts but I want the whole think in tact when I buy it. I have a few postcard sketches that I have purchased and traded for but without all the other stuff it's not the same.
My belief is that all the stuff that comes with the LE sketch cards belong with the sketch card set. There are only 200 or so of each LE post card set and with all the pieces sold off it just bugs me. Again this is my opinion but I believe they are sold that way as a total LE set. You don't get them with the regular post cards for a reason because it's not an LE set.
You could say, why are people buying the OLDS sketches and that is part of the set. I don't see it that way since it's not a limited edition that goes with the all the cards that make up the LE set.
I do believe that the people that retain the whole set of postcards will be better off. This could be due to resell or trade value.
Do you all agree this makes sense with the post cards or am I just the only one?
Another analogy is I sold a Harry Potter LE 5 disc Blue-Ray set on ebay and a guy sent it back to me because it was missing one of the bookmarks. He got it for $60, which is a hell of a deal for 5 blu-ray movies and he spent $12 sending it back to me because it wasn't complete. I sold it because of the movies but he didn't see it that way. He wanted the whole LE set.

Well, when purchasing Series 1, 2 & 3, I want them to be complete because the limited postcards are signed, and numbered to match the sketches. I'd buy a Series 1 Weaky Packages sketch alone if it showed up at a reasonable price, but I'd still someday want the numbered postcards to go with it, or would hope to find a complete set and then sell my extra sketch. Really, to me, the only issue with these three sets is the Grave Nuts bonus card with Series 3 LE. I had to buy an extra set to pull out the Grave Nuts for my special cereal collection, and I now have the sketch and LE postcards left. If someone would enjoy the LE postcards and the Gloomy Bears sketch, which is basically identical to my keeper, I'd happily sell.
With Series 4 & 5, I can see breaking the sets up, because the 'LE' postcards are unsigned and unnumbered. The only connection to the sketch is the COA. To get one sketch from each artist requires 5 sets - do I really need 5 sets of Bio cards? And with some of the variations, particularly Smokin' Joe's, people are looking for more than 5 sketches! And I know I've been tempted by some extra Wander sketches I've seen. I do tend to keep more than one set of the inserts, some for pages, and one to keep in toploaders, and I did break up bio sets in both 4 & 5 to get the cereal titles. Still, there are likely people who prefer the smaller size cards who missed out on the LE sale window - why not offer them the extra bio sets? Or the loose cards from the bio sets I broke up? They're sitting here in a box, whereas maybe someone could be enjoying them.
I also helped out a forum member who really wanted a Hoppy Meal bonus card from Series 4. That is where these LE postcard sets bother me - a Wacky title that is so limited (200 cards) that many collectors may never be able to get one. If everyone who wanted multiple sketches insisted on keeping the special bonus cards with them, how many less fans would ever be able to get the bonus Wacky image? I'd much rather they go back to the Series 2 model and use the same bonus card in the regular and LE sets.
Your timing about this is funny - I brought my extra postcard stuff to the show last week, including complete Series 2 sets, the Gloomy Bears w/o Grave Nuts, some bio sets and a Gaggin' Strips. The trading was really focused on OS and Old School. I was thinking of offering them here, might just do that.....

I've had several buyers that I've sold bio-sets to tell me they have no interest in the postcards because they only collect trading card size cards. There is a lot of variety about who collects what so I don't see anything wrong with breaking sets down. From a buyer standpoint and to Ernies point when I get one limited set and then want the other sketch cards I don't need or want the rest of the package so why pay for it? Now the COA's are different as they should always be kept with the sketch cards, but the rest could always be assembled back together separately.

I guess 1st you'd have to think if the individual parts of the set and ask are they recognizable as part of the set when separated. Especially into the future, is there information on the individual pieces that corralate it to the set? If not, collectors who aren't hardcore collectors in the future might not recognize the item as being "part" of a set and therefore not place less of a value on it. On the other hand, if it IS recognized as piece of a set, then it might not hold as much value in the future because of it's determination of being "incomplete". So for this reason I'd have to say yeah it would be wiser to keep them together and not break up the set. Still, even knowing that, collectors might want just a piece of the set and not the whole set for some reason or other. Different strokes for different folks...

Those are probably folks who have no interest whatsoever in Wacky's (imagine that). So because of their lack of knowledge, they probably test the E-bay search by typing in Wacky Packages and nothing else - no series name. Then they decide, wow, these cards are probably worth a lot so I'll list it. Oh yeah and now the actual listing is free until it sells right? For that reason alone people will throw up anything for sale. I stopped selling on e-bay because of their rediculous new rules.

I agree with you! BTW - does anyone know how to eliminate seeing auctions for certain sellers? I know we can put (-) in front of words to filter ANS and so on but I think a good way to get a search on ebay to be fruitful for wackys is to filter out the sellers who keep listing single stickers and other nonsensical 25 cent items.

I am not quite sure but I think you can ignore a seller similar as to how you add a favorite seller. I could be wrong since I haven't found a need.

Did anyone take and post pictures from the show? This is the first time that I can remember when there was a show where there wasnt at least a group shot of who went posted on a wacky forum. Used to be you would see a group shot within a day or two of the show.

I am sure everyone's cell phones take pics yet none of us thought to take pics, we were busy trading, eating, and most of us bolted within a few hours to go home or the pinball show. It was like a blur, everything seemed to happen very fast but was definitely a great hangout.

Some notes from the show:
Really good vibe with everyone, thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with the folks I already knew as well as meeting folks whom I hadn't hooked up with before!
As usual, there were relatively slim pickens from the dealers, I found a few deals in getting some series 16 puzzle pieces for $3(non right side), and good prices on Runaway, Mess Clairol, Windhex and a few others in that category. My "find" for the show was finally getting a Stench Berries Sketch and an extra Wanderbread color to be used to trade to get other sketches I need. I was surprised that any dealer had sketches so this made my show for me!
Trading was less feverish than previous years mainly because 1/2 of us took off to the pinball show and others seemed to need to leave in the middle of the afternoon. With good turnouts like this show, the tables we do our trading are quite inadequate so we should consider moving to an unused store space.
Pinball show was a bit lame as the crowd was larger and it seemd more machines weren't set up with free credits so I spent an equal amount of time waiting to play games as actually playing.
Sorry I missed the dinner hangout gang, I had to tend to my wife freaking out about our youngest Pug seeming to be ill. I was pretty wiped out by that point anyway and wouldn't have survived two more hours until dinner. Baby Pug is fine and it seems the extreme heat and humidity got to her. Thanks to all who wished her well!

Any sketch I ever sold the coa goes with it, and the only time I sell a sketch is if it's a double.
So your selling your colored sketch on eBay for $799 without the postcards, bio card and bonus card which is way more then I would sell the smokin Joe colored I pulled but since I'm a collector I'm keeping my color sketch I pulled.

I just saw this post and actually that is correct. Back in May I didn't understand people selling off the extra's from the limited collection Postcard sets. I felt they should be kept together as a set. That was my opinion at the time. People chimed in and gave their thoughts on what should go down with the sets and that is the sketch could be sold separately with the newer series because the postcards weren't numbered after series 3. I would expect that the first 3 series should be kept together but with the later sets this makes sense since the COA should follow the sketch and not the postcards since the postcards are labeled limited edition. To me, the comments made sense. Why should I hold on to 4 bio sets and bonus cards after series 3 since I didn't really need them. Why not sell them to buy more sketches.
At this point these series are so cannibalized that who am I to judge. It just seemed like you were buying sets to sell of each piece individually. I know that people are strange in what they want to collect so you never know. For some reason, at the time, it just seemed wrong that some of these sets would not be complete. Now I see where everything is going and it really doesn't matter.
Collecting changes all the time. Now it's time to sell off what you don't need. Since back in May I have seen some really strange stuff so now it really doesn't affect me anymore. People (collectors) do change. It sometimes takes some of use awhile for what is happening to sink in. Everything is for sale. That just makes the sets that are complete that much more appealing in the future. No one knows what future value holds so if you can make some money and still support your collecting habit then more power to you. That is what I am doing and it seems to be working.

Actually just went to the Allentown one over the weekend and no wacky stuff :( planning on going to the may1 show in essington at the ramada right? And then there is another one like july 16 or something like that. Anyone know of any others? Baltimore had one at the crown plaza a couple weeks ago and they advertised non sport trading cards, but when we got there, none of them showed and there was only like 4 vendors :P I did meet a guy at a flea market who said to contact him because he has some vintage wackies at home and no one has asked him for years, never uses the computer or ebay (so this should be interesting) ill let u all know how I make out and if I get any good finds to share with my buddies here.

Yes, the show was awesome. Soooo much neat stuff and wacky package ans and vintage galore! My fav find was Jay Lynch autographed 2nd edition (blue) books w bonus card inserts for sale at $20 and then some non wacky related (ms pacman,super pacman, and gpks). It was a pleasure meeting you and your daughter, Joe. Also, nice meeting ronz, campy, demented, paul mall, john f, and several others. Had the honor of spending the day with Pupsicola,Greg, Jay Lynch, and Clint and Sandy from GPK and WP warehouse. What a fun bunch today. Thanks sso much for making my day worthwhile and my first TOTAL nonsport trading card show (granted I chase comic Cons all the time) just warm and welcoming!!!

Funny you should mention that! Yes, I did pick up an extremely high grade (though somewhat O/C) Grime Heavy for $3, which I traded to Greg for some unopened packs.
Despite the relatively low turnout of WP fans, this was one of the coolest shows in a while.
I replenished my stock of unopened packs through buys from the usual pack guy at the show as well as a buy/trade of some of Greg's pack stock.
Worked a trade with Bill F. which was extremely helpful to me, for which I'm grateful.
There was also a guy there who had some seriously cool vintage stuff. He had about 15 8th series puzzles (both dark and light) which were untouched, had never been in packs and had no wax stains at all for $10 apiece. I grabbed three, Greg took a bunch more. The same guy had a bunch of perfect 16th stickers and puzzle pieces. These were not priced cheaply, but Greg picked them up also. I also picked up a dead mint 2nd re-issue set from the same guy for $55. He had tons of re-issue and '85 wax as well, priced very reasonably.
Found two different stashes of monster initials (one white, one tan), which allowed me to check off 10 more from my small remaining wantlist for those tough sets.
Just the kind of show I love, a good selection of interesting high quality stuff. Great hanging out with everyone who was there, or at least as much as could be fit in amidst all the wheeling and dealing!

I was going to have Shoe look for a full box for me (even if it had the ugly black line across the top of the box because I have an empty box without the line). But, we just got a medical bill that was much higher than we had anticipated. The timing was just bad. Maybe I'll get that full box of 85's some day.

If it makes you feel better, the guy mostly had full boxes of packs without the box. Greg did get one 1st re-ish full box that included the box, but for the 1985, all I saw was 36 packs (in perfect condition) for $75, but no box.

However, as I come closer to not needing very many more unopened packs, I have taken to trying to keep some extras in stock in case people become interested in buying them. That's exactly what I just did at the show. I don't really care about making a profit, but I like packs so much it's a fun way to remain active. So I'm allowing for the possibility that someone could function from a business end once their collecting goals are all met and still be doing it out of a love for wackys.

All the packs from the guy with the purple and yellow packs (10ths and 14th funpacks -- he also has 9ths) are totally legit. He's had them for years. They're pretty reasonably priced at around $20 apiece.
If you're interested in some packs, PM me and we can discuss it. After this show I have several different series available. They are all in nice shape and legit. That goes for anyone else who is interested.

There is no doubt you genuinely love unopened packs, I doubt there is anyone who would question that. You are clearly the hobby expert in that area hands down. If you wanted to clear out all of my unopened packs for a fair price, I am game. I am cleaning out surplus wackys anyway.

Well unfortunately I couldn't make it out to the Philly show this time, and of high interest to me is the 3 card outer space men promo card sets (the outerspace men are the colorform aliens which some of you probably know I am more fanatical about them than Wackys). I assume these sets were given away in the grab bags? I purchased a set on Ebay for $4.50 but I'd like to grab a bunch of sets. If anyone here has a set that they would like to sell for $6 postage paid I am definitely looking to buy more sets.

I'm going on Sat but maybe Sun will be better for leftovers. The wife is coming with me just to get the admission pack then shes going shopping. I sure hope i get to meet some of you at the show. I'll be the one loitering around the table looking for scraps. I'll prolly be asked to leave, maybe even escourted out.

I have not been to an Allentown show in over 20 years. I dont even know if it was a Non-Sport show back then. As I remember it was at the fairgrounds, is it still?

Not ever going again unfortunately. The roads were soooo F'd up that I will never go there again. Only possible way would be a whole different route or by helicopter. :'(

That's cool that you met Jay. I did get to meet Dave Gross when I went and a lot of our forum members. When I was there it was fun, but I spent way too much time not having fun on the road. Kinda like the lingering hangover you get when your older compared to none when you're younger. If I were to go, I would not go through the Philly part of PA, I would go Prkwy North then cut over west.

if you really want to go Jeff I wouldn't let one bad travel day kill your enthusiasm. I'm sure local can help you with the best routes to take to avoid traffic. Where is it you are coming from?

Doggies are doing well. That same doggie that caused me to leave the pinball show early almost had a heat stroke at "bark in the park" when we brough them to a Mets game a few weeks ago. Had to leave the game early. Definitely learning to do a better job of keeping her cool!

The Guiness record Philly gathering was 2005. I think that was the only time we've connected at a show. Hope you can come on out in a couple weeks...

If anyone has ANS base sets they want to get rid of that aren't worth the ebay and postage costs, I might be able to use some (except for ANS7, I have plenty of those, and would trade ANS7 for others).

I too am bringing ANS stuff for trading. I will be coming Friday afternoon, hitting the show Saturday morning, and leaving Saturday afternoon. I have not looked into a local hotel yet but plan to. I would love to have a trading gathering and enjoy a beeer or more. The last couple of shows I have come to I bring a keg or two of nice micro brew. Lets get this party started.

LOL personal time. I would consider this event as my personal time. Some make this as a short vacation. One guy is flying in from the UK but I'm sure he can't make Friday because it cuts into his personal time..LOL
I think you mentioned personal time because it may conflict with your own personal schedule. Others are looking at this as a big deal. They are using this show to reconnect with collectors and have a great time. This is their personal time!
If I could swing it I would but flying from Colorado isn't going to happen. I made the show in 2005 because my sales territory included PA so it worked out great. They eventually hired another guy for the area so I missed out in subsequent trips. I do miss it. I used work to help me fly to PA for the show for free. Others don't have that luxury.
This all being said, I would really love to have us all plan for a trip sometime to all get together. Maybe we could look at a Wacky cruise?

OK, we are getting close. Who will be going Friday and staying over? Is there a prefered hotel? If anyone wants uncut sheets of series 4 reissue, 6th series original or any of the items I have listed on ebay now that are a pain in the butt to ship, I would make the trip on Friday night to sell directly even though I can't stay overnight. Will work out good prices for local pickup and cash.

Just wanted to add that if anyone attending the Philly show this weekend has any extra Series 2 erasers/stickers, please bring them along for trading/buying. I'd love to be able to fill in my missing pieces face-to-face (vs. thru the mail).
Also, I'll have my extra original series stickers/checklists, some original series tattoos and posters, Crazy Labels extras and, of course, the Wacky truck for those who have not seen it in person, LOL. Sounds like the ANS extras are being covered well by others, so mine will stay home this time. If anyone has any specific wants/needs, mention it here and if I have, I'll bring.

Tom, thanks for reminding me, I always like it when people attending the show post in advance what they plan to bring and their goals for the show.
I'll be bringing my usual large stack of high grade original series stickers, some extra puzzle sets, and a small group of extra unopened packs and wrappers.
My goals are always to find a few really nice original series upgrades. If anyone happens to have a nice 10-cent Wacky Ads unopened pack, please bring that too. :^)

That stinks on ice! We had a flat tire on our way to a week long vacation this Summer - so we had to unload the tightly packed trunk to get to the spare in the sweltering heat, change the tire, pack the $%^&@ trunk up again AND only drive 50 miles per hour for the last 2 hours of the trip. However, going so slow wasn't that bad, I must be getting old.
Good luck on things going smoothly from here on out.

Each sketch card I did for the Halloween 2011 postcard series is one panel of a longer comic strip. The entire comic strip is printed here in book form, along with a checklist showing all 50 sketch card panels which make up this comic strip and the sketch card numbers which these drawings appear on.

Each sketch card I did for the Halloween 2011 postcard series is one panel of a longer comic strip. The entire comic strip is printed here in book form, along with a checklist showing all 50 sketch card panels which make up this comic strip and the sketch card numbers which these drawings appear on.

They weren't given out as a promo, but the Topps booth was selling them at a special, reduced price. Apparently they will be available on the Topps Online store before too long. Or at least that is what I was told!

For anyone looking for the Olds 3 promo..........I spoke to someone who went to the show today and asked Mike J. about how many of them they did, and if they were going to be released any other way, and he said that they did 500 of them and they were just made for the Philly show. They actually ran out of them today, so what's out there is all there is!
I'm not sure about Baby Wrath but I would guess they did 650 of them.

I havent got to the best best part of the show yet, The Artists!! I seemed to have missed placed my camera, and cant get a shot of the sketches i had done. If i cant find it by tomorrow i will borrow one. I really do want people to see these. Just being able to talk to those guys and how down to earth they really are was great, and the best part, They Are Wacky Fans just like us. Talking Wackys with them took up a big chunk of my time.
I did manage to score a $30 Kirscht Halloween 2011 sketch. I bought 3 OLS2 boxes for $45 each, no shipping or tax, that was nice. My wife bought me the ANS 8 binder for Christmas $15. Mike from Topps sold me some other stuff and treated me very very well THANKS MIKE!
I was sitting right there when the "Bubble Boy" puzzle piece was being looked at, i dont know if he commented on it but i know i looked at it for a few seconds hard. Some secrets were told by people who will remain nameless, and my large ears and eyes were able to gain this information. But I'll never tell. You will all know soon enough, I could be bought though.
The pizza sucked. I don't know where my wife got it from but it sucked. There is nothing like NEPA(north east PA) pizza, thin and Old Forge style.

I didn't see any steals like you're mentioning. $75 Paul Mauls, slabbed yellow poster packs, stickers sorted by series, with the higher series going for more, etc. One dealer had a nice box of blue poster packs for $350. I picked up a party pack sticker sheet for $20.

Most of my "scores" were on post-2004 items. I still haven't learned to dig through all of the dealers stuff thorough enough to find those hidden gems.

I had an awesome time at this show! It's the first show I've been to since 2007 and it was worth the wait. Sharing a table with Fred Wheaton was one of the highlights for me! He is one of the nicest people I have ever met and is ultra-talented! I enjoyed watching him do commissioned sketches and also looking through his art binders ~ great stuff!
The other highlight was being able to reconnect with old Wacky collector friends, as well as meeting some new ones and seeing the faces behind the avatars!
Going out to dinner with Mike Jasperson, Jeff Z. and Fred was the proverbial icing on the cake! (I haven't laughed that hard in a LONG time!)
I'm planning on going to the Spring show (as a collector!) and possibly get to do some trading, buying, chatting, etc. Mega-thanks to all of you that stopped by the table to talk Wacky Packages (Hot Wheels, heavy metal, etc!)

Yes thx..last show she met Jay Lynch and he signed one of Greg's WP Box posters to us both and this show Jeff Z. comp her a sketch...not too bad...she actually collecting,for both of us, the '67 die cuts. She has a VG - Jolly Mean #43 and now a EX++ Jail-O...its a start...some day RATZ...who knows...

Going to the Non-Sport Card show last weekend made me feel exactly like a kid in a candy store (again)! It was so great meeting Fred Wheaton, George Wright and Jeff Zapata and they are all extremely nice guys and as you can imagine very funny. As well as of course amazing artists/creators/present day carriers of the Wacky torch. The highlight for me (easily of the whole year) is a moment when I was having a wacky conversation with Fred, Jeff and George and none other then the great Jay Lynch called up Jeff on his cell phone with a wacky halloween postcard sketch question (something about where do you sign your signature on the return cards or something). Jeff put him on speaker phone! What a great bunch of guys and a phenomenal wacky day. Check out the super cool color sketch Fred did for me (MENTOADS...one of my favorite ANS8 characters). Fred told me he thought of the 1973 Toadal toad as he painted ANS8's MENTOADS. Thanks again! Best Regards, Joe

On Sunday morning of the Philly show, Non-Sport Update held a gathering for the members of their message board. The centerpiece of that was a panel discussion with card company reps. Video of the panel can be seen here:

Mike Jaspersen of Topps Vault made a couple of announcements of interest to Wacky fans, around the 34:35 mark in the video.
It's not in the video, but at the end of the panel some of the attendees won prizes in a drawing. Among the prizes were Old School boxes, Wacky Erasers boxes, and Halloween Postcards.

Fred has already appeared on my other, artist focussed, podcast, Behind The Canvas, and I hope to get George on that too!
I'm relatively new to the Wacky world, but I did get a box of Old School at the show and got a Mark Parisi sketch card - which was nice!
It was great meetign Fred, George and Jeff at the show, and I know I chatted to a few Wacky Fans when I was at Fred and Georges table, so it was nice meeting you as well!

reading this part of your post reminded me of something I read over on Greg's forum regarding Jay Lynch and the show -
I was planning and excited to go to this show, last time with Jay there it was among the most fun shows of all time, I even stayed till the end and came back Sunday. So I had arranged for Jay Lynch to come down again, on my dime, but Roxanne said she wouldn't allow him there twice in a row because he's so popular that he takes business away from the other artists. So that's it for me, I'm not going to the show, and I wouldn't blame anybody else for not going either. As wacky pack collectors, it's hard to get interested in the show that has been intentionally dumbed down of wacky pack artists. I may never go to the show again, will have to see how things play out next time, but this one is a wash for sure.

That seems like a practical approach and hardly worth a fan throwing a hissy fit on behalf of one of the artists especially if that fan may not necessarily be representing the view of the artist like greg did on Jay's behalf.

As Fred said, the Tosers try to mix up the artists they have at the Philly show and have, for some years, tried not to have the same people two shows running - I know this has upset a few people in the past, artists who have appeared before are not permanently excluded!

I hope I can make it! I have missed two shows in a row! I had gone to like every non sport show(Secaucus, Parsippany, Philly) minus one when my father in law passed away over a 10 year period. I think I made like 29 of 30 shows or something like that and now I can rarely find time to make the shows.

A change back to Fri/Sat would be great for me. I don't think i have made a show yet since they switched venues and also went to Sat/Sun. It is just way too hard for me to get there on a Saturday. Maybe I will get a break in my schedule this year and I can finally get back to a show.

Twin Galaxies will be set-up at the April 21 & 22 show in Allentown at the Merchants Square Mall. Anyone interested in arcade games will be happy to see some of the celebrities who will be at the show, like Billy Mitchell who scored a perfect Pac Man game. Twin Galaxies will be unveiling their brand new 150-card set all about arcade game celebrities and the history of the games. David Gross will be at the April show too.

I don't recall topps having a booth at any type of show for a few years now? but it looks like they are back to self-promoting again - being at philly and SDCC this year. seems like they'd want to give out their promos at their own booth, but guess we'll find out.

Mike Jasperson and Dave Gross were behind the Topps booth a lot but Dave also came out for a little while to hang at the tables we were trading at. Topps had a booth for Wackys and also a lot of Mars Attacks stuff. Sounds like both ANS9 and Mars Attacks might both release in July within the same week.
George Wright was the only one smart enough to take a couple pictures of the Wacky gang trading at the tables so hopefully he'll post the pics here. I also say I'm going to do it and always forget.
Between the booths and trading or buying from Wacky buddies I picked up @ 15 titles I needed for upgrades. I also picked up 2 of the 3 Phoney Record stickers I need to complete my set, and I'm bummed because I can't find them now! I paid $15 each for them. The dealer didn't have anything I could put them in so I stuck them inside one of the supply catalogs that came with the admission bags, and I folded it up in one of the pages so it wouldn't fall out, but now I can't find the catalog! I know it's a shot in the dark but if anyone picked up any catalogs on the tables we were collecting please check them. I'm thinking that's probably where I left it.

Those are the only 2 Wacky Packages related cards however there is a Jay Lynch animated card in the series. I dont know why but I have been able to put together a complete set of these cards. Some are cool while others are bland. The Jay card looks cool.

You did a promo card with a character drawing of the Reighters. I said animated maybe in error. It was a promo card for the Oct 1999 show " Artwork by "Wacky" artist Jay Lynch" printed on the back. they used the same card to promote the Apr 2002 show also. Cards # 16 & 25. I even have a # 16 with Jay's autograph

Mike is one of the coolest, and nicest, people I've ever known! Fred Wheaton and I got to talk with him and Jeff Z. at the Fall '11 Show and had a great time. Same thing with Colin and John. Very down-to-earth guys!

Mike is one of the coolest, and nicest, people I've ever known! Fred Wheaton and I got to talk with him and Jeff Z. at the Fall '11 Show and had a great time. Same thing with Colin and John. Very down-to-earth guys!
I've spoken with him several times by phone. He seems like a great guy.

Greg has always tried to make a business out of this hobby. Topps has held their ground on the OLDS line so I have no idea what else he has up his sleeve.

My history with Greg started in 2004 so that is all I know. I know he was pissed at Topps when they wouldn't allow him to resell OLDS. My guess is he's trying to work out another deal with Topps on another venture and Topps may not want to play ball and that is why they had a heated discussion. Topps has their own site and plenty of word of mouth so I assume they don't need a middle man to pitch their wares. I really have no idea what they would be arguing about so it's just an assumption. Things sure got heated on the other forum between Greg and David Gross over OLDS. It was all business at the time for Greg.
Please note that I have no bad feelings for Greg and I always found him to be a good guy. I've met him a couple times and we had good conversations and nothing that would make me not like the guy. He has done nothing wrong to me. I'm just making this assumption based on the comments about a heated exchange between him and Topps. Why else would there be a heated conversation if it wasn't around business?

I'm sure the heated exchange WAS around business. All I disputed was your original statement, which is false and depicts Greg's participation in the hobby unfairly.

Yes, it is totally fair and accurate. Brad didn't say greg has EXCLUSIVELY made the hobby a business but he sure has made making money in the hobby a very high priority. His issues with Topps are business and money related. Just because greg feels his trust was breached doesn't mean the core isn't still about his being an authorized and preferred reseller of product. Are you suggesting greg has made making money a very small low priority in this hobby?

I agree that Greg was selling in much the same way you were when I entered the hobby. If someone described you by saying "Ernie has always tried to make a business out of this hobby," would you think that sounded fair or pejorative? Would you think it downplayed your other contributions to the hobby?
I guess the degree to which it's accurate is in the eye of the beholder.

I would say greg has described me in this way maybe 1000 times and not a single time did you find the need to defend me so for some reason you have now decided that such a description has a negative connotation that is worth defending immediately or you have a bias. I believe the latter to be true, you fear the rebuttal you would receive if you dared ever to stand up to greg.
I would say it has been true that I have ALWAYS flipped my extras for a buck in order to finance my buying more stuff and that is exactly how I have "qualified" the statement in the past. Now I flip stuff just to get rid of it as there is so little left I need to buy. I rarely buy collections any more even if I feel I could flip them for a profit as I no longer need to bankroll my collecting.
Maybe my skin is thick than greg's(ie or your playing the role of greg's skin...again). I just don't see the comment as being as negative as you are taking it on greg's behalf. Let's face it, you run to greg's aid pretty frequently and I would say it is about 99-1 ratio of your defending greg versus being critical of him.
Do you condone the fact that he has now thrown a tantrum at a show at least three times over the years? Long ago by screaming at Brian, somewhat recently when he had a fit when you found the blue 8th packs and wouldn't split the lot in half with him and at this recent show. I am sure there are others.

I'm not talking about putting sets together to resell as being a business. I think the business aspect occurred for Greg around ANS2. He had cases piled up to the ceiling. I bought some stuff at his house and he printed a receipt so he could keep track for his taxes. To me, that's a business. I expect he bought the cases of boxes from Topps at a wholesale price and was selling them on the side. I don't know because I didn't buy my boxes from Greg. I was always true to Lockwood because Lockwood had great prices and service. Sure miss that guy....

greg has taken the business aspect of this to the extreme for about 8 years which is more than half of his wacky pack career. Your worrying about whether newbies will view greg as business first is the bed greg has made for the last 8 years. For you to declare that for those first 6 years that greg " showed no demonstrable business agenda" is really wildly off the mark. The business side may not have completely consumed him but your declaring it was ZERO is really quite strange. I can't fathom how you possibly perceive it that way to the point that you would take it upon yourself to declare Brad's view as unfair.

Mike Jasperson and Dave Gross were behind the Topps booth a lot but Dave also came out for a little while to hang at the tables we were trading at. Topps had a booth for Wackys and also a lot of Mars Attacks stuff. Sounds like both ANS9 and Mars Attacks might both release in July within the same week.
George Wright was the only one smart enough to take a couple pictures of the Wacky gang trading at the tables so hopefully he'll post the pics here. I also say I'm going to do it and always forget.
Between the booths and trading or buying from Wacky buddies I picked up @ 15 titles I needed for upgrades. I also picked up 2 of the 3 Phoney Record stickers I need to complete my set, and I'm bummed because I can't find them now! I paid $15 each for them. The dealer didn't have anything I could put them in so I stuck them inside one of the supply catalogs that came with the admission bags, and I folded it up in one of the pages so it wouldn't fall out, but now I can't find the catalog! I know it's a shot in the dark but if anyone picked up any catalogs on the tables we were collecting please check them. I'm thinking that's probably where I left it.
It was fun to meet just about everyone in the list posted above! I want to give a proper shout-out to Mr. "Shoe" for the unopened box of WP Old School 2 that he gave me on Saturday! That was very generous and much appreciated!

Bill, I don't think anyone cares what Greg's agenda is. I just mentioned he has been all business since 2004 because it was mentioned that he was arguing with Topps at the show. It's pretty easy to put 2 and 2 together and know this confrontation was about business. I wasn't there so I only made an assumption post. It's really not that big of deal. The only reason we are mentions Greg is because his name was dropped about the heated discussion.

I agree with you completely which is why it is interesting that immediately Brad was called out for portraying an unfair image of greg when seems widely accepted that greg has turned wacky pack hobby into a business TOO!

Perhaps it's my fault for reading more into the original comment than was intended. The context of the comment made it sound like all Greg ever cared about in the hobby was profit. We all know that isn't true, but I'm sure Brad didn't really mean it that way, so let's forget it.

It was a Minute Lice and clearly had the squared off corners. Unfortunately I didn't need that particular title so I turned it back in to Matt and told him what it was, but it was a cool find anyway.
It just goes to show that although they are rare and often hard to spot, there are some mixed in with regular ones, you just have to learn what to look for.

You are definitely the best at finding stuff like this. It's not so much laziness, you just have to have the ability to maintain focus. I have a very hard time with this. I start to feel like if I spend too much time at one table I'm missing out on something somewhere else, so I have a hard time really searching carefully, and rarely spot things at shows.

I guess I don't worry about mssing something somewhere else as there is no more certainty these is something somewhere else as there is at the table you are already exploring. Notice I rarely every got to shows to be first on line as I never cared, I am not a rat race kind of guy.
Despiite greg's lies stating otherwise, I rarely got in early with dealers, in fact I believe in the stretch of missing only one show across Philly, Secaucus, Parsippany over the 10 year period from 1998-2008Ie 29 shows), I think I went in early with dealers 3 times all at the request of the dealers for me to help them sort new wacky pack collections they had purchased.

Find a cheap flight and make a weekend out of it! You couldn't do it often but if the flight was cheap enough it might be worth doing it once.

The more I hear about this exchange the more I am hearing it was quite ugly and greg fired off some loud profanity. Can anyone verify? Seems that would be pretty disruptive behavior towards a Vendor of the show that maybe could have been taken off line eh? People do want Topps to attend these shows, correct? For the record, I am not a fan of John Williams as he lied to me in the past which caused me to have quite a bit of angst towards Topps too. I just never decided to show up there to cause an in person confrontation about it.

Pristine could be tough but a solid NM might not be that tough. Just takes patience. I don't have patience and way over spent back in 2005 but I did get some very nice sets and took the next 5 years working on upgrading a few titles. It was fun.

I covered this ad nauseum in the past but basically I asked him why greg's website was the only one linked from Topps website and he told me it was because there were no other collector websites. I told John that was a crock of shit and made sure he was aware of mine, Rustys, Tom's and John Mann's defunct site and probably some others at the time, I don't recall exactly.

No, I wasn't asking because of a Wacky connection to the Melty cards, just because these cards were in the promo packs that were included free with show admissions that I though many collectors here might not care about. Although Wackys are my primary hobby, I do still collect other non-sports cards and promos.

For anyone on here (Including myself) that has been at 1 of Greg's gathering groups in his apartment building over the years can clearly see from the other apt. across the hall from his main one that he stores all of his extra stuff in, He absolutely loves this hobby.

I intend to be there on Sat. I may be dragging my brother-in-law along. He's not a Wacky collector (though he did buy reissues when he was a kid), but he's coming for the pittance of sports stuff that shows up. He has baseball cards and the like he collects. I'm going to warn him about the Wacky folks...and our trading and BS session. That may scare him off, but I doubt it! :o

I'll be there both days. I have a table again, but won't know where it's located until I get there Saturday morning. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to finish the Topps-rejected Wacky paintings that I've started (Grosstitos, etc.) but I will have some limited trade bait with me and will be doing some sketches over the course of the weekend. I'll also have everyone's commissioned sketches from the Spring Show with me (Did I just hear hear a collective "It's about time!" LOL!)
My main trading focus will be the 16th series. I have a few pack-fresh nice singles that I would be interested in trading for equal quality specimens. I'm going to try and get a bunch of other Wacky related stuff together, but I can't make any promises as to how much and what due to time limitations with my day job. I usually end up grabbing stuff as I'm racing out the door. Feel free to send me a PM if there are any specific items that you are looking for and I'll let you know if I have it or not.
As with the Spring Show, my two main reasons for getting the table were for shameless self-promotion and a place to talk "Wacky Speak" for two days! Can't wait to see everyone again!

He may just have a good time in the stores there! Plus, he'll be able to pick up entry promo packs.

Can't make it this year and was looking forward to seeing everyone again. 3 things fell exactly on the 20th. My uncle benefit for his family since he has been diagnosed with bad cancer. I will be playing some songs. Earlier in the day there is an outside gig that my band has to play for 45 minutes. Later that night a b day party for one of my neices. If someone can pick me up a goodie Wacky promo bag, I'll gladly pay them for it. LMK, thanks - Jeff

Glad to hear that Pat. I'll have a bunch of all that stuff also. I'll also bring some "Spook Show" sets. I have 20 Full sets(all insert cards) i have 5 or 6 sets with some insert cards and a few Base Sets only. I Also have some "Fright Flicks" FULL BOXES no black stripe. I'm bringing 100 ANS 8 base sets. Lets have a contest....how low will i have to go to sell all 100 sets??? If i can sell them at all. I'm going to try to unload an entire case of "Nintendo Game Packs" 12/24ct ......32 unopened Packs Of Series 2 Erasers. And a bunch more stuff. Anyone need any ANS 8 stuff? (i doubt it).....See everyone there!!!

I think i have a mystery on my hands. At the show they were selling Poster boxes and cereal sets. If you bought either or both you got a Funpak Bonus Sketch. As i said earlier, i asked Mike where they came from, he said they were from Crushed OLDS3 boxes and ripped postcard packs...unsellables. I watched many people open their Funpaks including Pat when she got her Parisi Clunk (nice sketch, post a pic) most were average...all on topic for the card except this...

looks like a series 8 postcard sketch, but done on series 7 card stock. interesting.

Hey Jim. I can't speak to this specifically, but I have turned in sketches in the past that would have ended up not fitting a series, and therefore would have not been used. Call them "lost sketches", I guess. I don't know what Topps did with them. It would be cool if they were to have survived to show up in something like this though.

There was a stack of these (funpak) sketchs. I'm sure i didnt get to see all of them opened. Who knows what the others contained Fred. I would also wish lost sketches would show up somewhere down the line.

Wish I could have been at the show, but just too much going on. Hope to make it in the spring, maybe the fun paks will make a reappearance.
