Patch bicycle tires.

I wonder how Chat GPT would answer the question?

Employ parody to teach kids that advertising is deceptive

If they do what they are designed to do, then your wallet should be empty.

Create a little bit of joy?

Laughter is the best medicine.
-
Back in the day: To embrace our inner childish mind so we can laugh and trade funny spinoffs of everyday products. [because they were so affordable and easy to find/buy, even by children]
Today: To drain our wallets in hopes that we acquire a complete set or rare card/sticker that will one day help fund our retirement....along the way providing enjoyment of funny spinoffs of everyday products. [because they are now so expensive and only are found on the Topps website for a very limited time, usually only by adults]

Make your bike sound like a motorcycle.

They're parodies of various products on and/or off the market (depending on the various series' releases) where the jokes are still just as funny both then and now.

To flip or throw against the garage door. Whoever gets a ‘leaner’ wins both!

They make me giggle like a kid :P

Now, is that in toppsys or farsys?
-
Jim now I played both flipping and tossing constantly when I was a kid but don’t recall any particular terms associated with it. The only thing I recall was a “leaner” which is when a tossed card leaned against a wall. What does “toppsys” and “farsys” refer to?

Toppsys is flipping till some one tops a card, wins the batch.
Farsys are who flips the farthest.
Hey, wanna flip? Sure, toppsys or farsys?

WP's make me think about the first time I ever got a pack and believe me, I can see it as if it happened yesterday. It makes me think of going to Turkey Hill (Lauden Hill at first) after grade school and buying a pack from the box by the cash register and then trading cards the next day in Mrs. Strony's class.

Entertaining kids and letting them hone their antiestablishment chops, while enriching the Topps Company at the same time.

This kind of nails it

I can't say that I'm up to date on the non-sports sets being produced these days, but it seems like there were a lot of sets, bottles, cans, trinkets, etc. like Wacky Packages that were made in the 60s, 70s, and 80s and very little being made today. Were we more of an antiestablishment generation, or is there just little interest in these types of items today? Do too many kids and 20-somethings have their head buried in their phones?
-
Oh yeah, its all phones and IPads. I WILL say that my kid and her friends (ages 10-12) think the Wacky minis and stickers are cool, if it is products they have heard of…At daughters birthday party, they all opened Packs of Old School 2 series..However, their attention span is so short they dont follow up and want to finish the set later…
-
Anti-establishment is gone. Today we all love big brother or else!

This is probably the best outcome than can be expected from today’s generation of kids - a passing interest only. I’ve also observed in our generation, mention Wacky Packages and close to 100% of the time you’ll get that “OMG, I remember those!” reaction, but a sustained interest in looking back at them only happens a small fraction of the time. We are that small fraction. Most people don’t dwell on nostalgia that much. My take anyway.
