Title: Is “miscut” the right word here?
Post by: JailOJohn on December 29, 2022, 07:34:58 PM
I was poring through some stickers, and came across several re-issues that have a weird defect. I am not sure miscut is the proper term here. I am not having any luck getting photos to upload, so i will describe it. I am not sure it would show up in a photo anyway. The sticker is not miscut as in off-center or tilted. Rather on the face of the sticker, you can see the faint outline where the shape of another sticker is kiss cut across the face of the wacky. It is faint, but appears to be a deep enough outline that if i peeled the sticker, it would leave behind a different product shaped part of the sticker. Has anyone run across this before?

There have been cases of sheets fed into the die cut process upside down.   I have a few stickers from such a sheet.

I have some too, from ANS2.  As I recall the backs are wrong, too.

That's funny! i collected wackys in the 1970s and never saw anything like that one...or any other mis-cut cards, for that matter. I must've been really lucky back in the day.

That is exactly what happened with the Rabid Shave shown by J-O John.

The die cut on it was meant for Baby Runt, which is in the same position as Rabid Shave when the sheet is fed upside down.

Neat!!  Jeff probably has some of those, or might be interested in them for the museum.

I bought about 10-15 of these years ago on eBay.  I have no idea where I stashed them, but I do recall they were all reissues like these.

Mystery solved. I figured it was some production error such as that. Re-issues arent worth much anyway, so was just curious about the novelty of it. I have 3 titles like this, if Jeff is interested for the re-issue museum.
