This is for slamjim - Do we have any update for a possible early to mid 2013 Wacky Packages Old School series 11 release? Or maybe the Wacky Packages Old School entries will be part of the monthly 2023 Wacky Packages series possibly replacing the Wonky Packages entries (4 each month, 1 spoofing a 1960's product, 1 spoofing a 1970's product, 1 spoofing a 1980's product, and 1 spoofing a 1990's project)? But the Wacky Pals comics will remain for the 2023 Wacky Packages monthly series.

Too early to say much about the series but I'm starting work on it this month!

So it could be ready by late Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 to my guess...

Excellent news, Dave!...and for DTH1971....I would NOT want these to be chase inserts in the monthly sets!! I'm already passing on the Wonkys because I can't afford them.

Until then, I will enjoy going thru the 1-10 in my Old School Album... I always find something new when I check them out.... I appreciate it!

I spoke too soon. Looks like with some reshuffling at Topps right now Old School is being pushed back to the later part of the upcoming year.

Uh oh…..

So now it will be Fall 2023 or Christmas 2023.

By the time it comes out, we'll each be an "Old Skull". heh.
(Me whispering to the ether: "please let that not already be an existing parody of Old School Wackys that I missed because I didn't buy all of them, and please let it make it into the next set since I always wanted to design a Wacky...") heh. Oops. Said it out loud & now that Dave read it, it's not going to happen. Noooooo...

I was ready to design something for you, but then I ran across the 2012 New York Comic Con promo card. Looks like your idea was done a decade ago! Sorry.

When Wacky Packages Old School Series 11 does come out later this 2023 year, slamjim, will it be 1990's related products Wacky Packages style or a mix of 2 decades (1960's and 1990's is my guess) unless it's 1980's products for the fourth time?

There was a poll recently asking which era should be explored in the next Old School set. I personally would like them to either go back to the 1970s or maybe even the 1960s. Most of us don't relate to 90s products and were collecting these during the original run.

I would gladly pay for the improvement!! The newer non kiss cut stickers are no fun to stick.
-
Kiss cut would be nice, but I'm just glad they are continuing the OS series!

Any parodies of vaping products in such a series? Or other cigarettes that have never been parodied? e.g. American Spirit just begs to have a card...

I say this only from casual observation, I haven’t looked at it closely, but isn’t it true that the number of cigarette brands produced today is only a small fraction of that produced in the 70s? Whether it’s the banning of advertising, increased consciousness of health risks, astronomically higher prices, or all of the above, it just seems like there are very few brands out there these days. The classic newsstand/candy store, with a massive array of cigarette brands on back wall racks behind the counter, seem to be a thing of the past as well. Vaping products aside, it would seem that Old School would be the only fitting place to parody the various discontinued brands that were never parodied before, as has already been done with a few.

If I could design an Old School series, it would be 40 stickers - 10 from each decade (10 from the 1960's, 10 from the 1970's, 10 from the 1980's, and 10 from the 1990's).

I second that idea.

I still want to see some 1940s or 1950s parodies, even if it's just a subset.

I know what you mean; I never smoked and never will, but I've noticed in the supermarkets and drug stores where they seem to be sold nowadays that the cigarettes these days are more varieties of established brands. I mean, Marlboro alone has a lot of them, including one called Blend No. 27 (whatever happened to Blends No. 1-26? Were they flops, lol?) To me, at least, tobacco is tobacco, no matter what you call it, and it can still kill you in the end.
