OK, so I have been invited back this year to contribute some Wackys and (hopefully) some smiles during these chilly fall months. It's always nice to get these calls and dig deep into my gag archive that goes way back to the ANS days. This first one was submitted as a gag in 2014 and has always been a favorite of mine. Now I assume it's cool that I preview these as Dave and Neil have done so with their monthly Wackys in the past. If not, please let me know and I will cease and desist! OK with no more preamble for the month of October I present Grims...

ps. I will post the original gags upon request.

Just received my Joe G's Parotees card #9. Very cool. I will not spoil it here. I wanted to mention Joe went all out this time and did a very limited 9 card puzzle checklist set which is perfect partner for your 9 card set. His B3 Bonus card is also very cool and tells the story of the gag on the back. So much care went into this project. I think it took about 6 years for all 9 cards to come out. Many thanks to Joe G for his love of Wackys! PM Joe if you want info.

Andrew, you are too kind. So yes my ParoTees finally reached the magic number 9 and have filled one binder page. In celebration of that I did do up a vintage style puzzle which is signed and numbered to 20. Fun stuff in the classic Wacky style. It’s been great to have the chace to do these and I have to thank the group of ParoTee collectors on the forum for sticking with me and supporting this effort for all these years!
-
It's great, Joe!! Proud to have one!

Are all of these still available? and where?

And now November. I have just one Wacky in November’s set and it is Riskies. I’m including the rough this time as all Wackys start with actual packaging and I really was fortunate to have such a fun original image to riff off of. Also I always wanted to paint a prehistoric scene so it was great to be able to incorporate a smilodon into this Wacky!

Nope...neither have the Mars Attacks. At least from the chatter here. The NYCC 5-card Brody set arrived in my mail last week.

Steve thanks for the info. Ugh! I know it’s hard on collectors when they take forever to ship but it’s double hard on artists as I’m always a little apprehensive at how well the art will print and how the text will read at card size.

First up for Dec a little magic with Wandex. The gag was originally submitted, I think, for WP series 1 2015 when Colin Walton was the Art Director at Topps, hence the note on the rough.

Thanks so much Pat! I know some of the artists, Neil especially, can really just come up with wonderful Holiday Wackys but I’ve always found it kinda tricky. I was happy to finally write one I thought worked. Did you notice I painted the correct Cranberry Sauce smooth can top? You gotta turn the can upside down to get at those CramMerrys!

Gotta love that, "It's a dead giveaway" line

Mark, thank you! I thought that line might appeal to Wacky writers especially!

I hate the cranberry sauce cans!!! You can't puncture the other end to help airflow.
-
Pat, too true. Not sure how the whole upside down can design started but it’s there for every brand of sauce. I’m told, if you do it right you can get the entire contents out in one go. Problem is I’m never doing it right so I let the kids do it.
