I have put in an inquiry at Super Impulse regarding if / when Series 4 will be produced. Does anyone else have a contact they can ask.
Andrew
No contacts, but I wrote them and the response was, “yes we are releasing a series 4 but no date planned yet.”

Wait, didn’t Series 3 have some kinda rare cans (Mountain Goo, Pupsi and Hurtz Baked Bears) and the ridiculous “Fugggeddaboutit rare” Bar Kist?
Just got a reply from SI on S4:
"WP 4 maybe mid year"
So that's good news.
Andrew
Glad to hear the news, Andrew, even if I'd prefer "definitely" to "maybe" and "winter" to "mid year". I have meant to write SI and give some thoughts that I believe would make S4 even better. Do you have a contact name or email address you used or should I just find a general one on their website?
Found this yesterday at the same time I found your forum while searching for series 4:
https://toywiz.com/worlds-smallest-wacky-packages-minis-series-4-mystery-box-24-packs/
Toywiz is the first distributor I've seen even mentioning it, with a date of "May 2023".
I wonder what the "41" on the box refers to. Guessing it's how many different titles are in the series, but that is certainly quite a drop from previous series.definitely the number of titles. only half of the series 3 number. should make collecting the stickers a lot easier, which is good!

One of the bits of feedback I gave in my email to SI was to return the stickers to the slightly smaller size of series 1 and 2. The crinkled ones from series 3 were annoying.certainly hope they go back to the older size! grrrrr

I couldn't resist. I just placed a pre-order for a case from Toy Wiz. Seemed like a good deal and they won't charge my Amazon credit card until the item ships (assuming I could cancel if I wanted, but don't expect that will be the case). Also emailed Deborah Greenough, whom some (including myself) have successfully ordered from before. She didn't have definite details, but I'm guessing she may well end up having some to sell as well.
It is grainy, but the display box shown on Toy Biz appears to show all ANS titles..... Boo.....I do see count from Kayla and what appears to be life servers. But I do hope that they wouldn’t all be ANS titles for sure.

I am trying to get a checklist scan for S4. I doubt they would do ALL New Series. Why? Series 3 is ALL Original Series titles, why couldn't they go the other way on S4?

I think if series 4 has all or a high majority of ANS titles, it will have less interest to many collectors.
If the 41 on the box is the number of different titles, I wonder if the early boxes going to dealers and Target will have 41 titles and Walmart and another outlet will have 41 other totally different titles, making 82 different, which I believe was the total for the last 2 series.
That would cause a total glut of doubles trying to build sets.
They certainly could; but that doesn't mean I need to buy it.I was making no allusion to what you would or would not buy. Merely commenting on your thought that it was unlikely to be all ANS/new school titles.
I thought series 1 and 2 had a mix of OS and ANS titles…They did, so what's your point? :-\
They did, so what's your point? :-\
I agree that if there are an excessive amount of titles from ANS, that will diminish the interest in the series overall. This is certainly true for me, but I'll likely still go for them, especially if the total title count is 41. AND, there aren't 17 different variants involved.

SI seems to have so many “ brands” in the fire these days, I’m hoping they keep future Wacky releases a little simpler than previous series. Perhaps a foolish wish.
I hope they lose the fugetaboutit chase mini. Not cool to have a complete set not be possible unless you are willing to drop 1k. Having that in the mix is contrary to what wacky collecting was about early on. "Collect them all!" was realistic with OS wackys.
I'm probably not going hog-wild on Series 4 like I did for Series 3. I'll buy some cups just to get a few titles. I'm nostalgic for owning plastic replicas of the OS Wackies, not the ANS Wackies as much. Nothing to do with the artwork quality, because their are some top notch people working on them today.

I wait until I see them at Target or Walmart so I can choose a few cups based on the OS title that’s showing. And if they don’t turn up, oh well. I could take them or leave them. Although the concept of ‘world’s smallest’ 3D versions sounded intriguing when I first learned about them, in my book the 2D version will always be king.
Good old SI….
Heard back from Toy Wiz. Pre-Orders were pulled due to release being pushed from to August. Any Pre-orders already placed will be honored.
They will resume preorders in a few months.
looks like a new flash video has been added to the SI main page. Has a quick shot of the S4 set.

Thanks for the pics. I see two of my favorite ANS titles: Ordinary K and I Can't Believe It's Not Better. Ordinary K is from ANS3.Good spot. Yep, does look like a few ANS3 are in there. Like Cursed too.
I am curious to see what their sales will be with no Original Series titles…
ToyWiz says they expect this to arrive in Sept. I doubt that since they are not taking pre-orders at present. I think it will be a WalMart Exclusive.
What makes you think a Walmart exclusive? Have any other Super Impulse items been exclusive to Walmart before? So far, Wackys haven’t been exclusive, and the distribution has expanded for each of the three releases. No reason to think this will be any different. The image in the pre-order was the Target box, for whatever that’s worth.

Latest from SI:
I am sorry it was never sold to Amazon, Toywiz copied a picture from our catalog that he posted but was told to take it down as we have no idea when it will release. Sorry currently still no date for WP4.
They have Zero product in Target.
Did someone say "Zero product"!!?? :]

I'm afraid I've got bad news for all you guys and gals on this subject.
I finally got on Greg's web site, thanks to a link to a page on it on one of his emails that he sent to me, and I saw this: the Wacky Packages Minis 4th Series was canceled.
I have inquired at SI about S4 last week and was told no release date yet. Not cancelled. I was told Toy Wiz put up the presale in error. Toy Wiz may have cancelled their pre-orders as they do not know when the product will be released. I think SI has lost Target as a customer as I do not see any of their products in the card sections anymore. We may just have WalMart now which is a much spottier seller of SI products. Time will tell. Hustler; you can not have your

I wonder about Walmarts as well. I don’t know about the rest of the country, but here isn mid Indiana, Walmart is overhauling the checkout section. All checkouts are now “walled off” from the rest of the store. There are about 30 self checkouts around this perimeter and 6 conventional checkout stations in the middle, but they are all half the length as previous. This leaves very little room for impulse items. These Walmarts have also reduced their card sections to about 1/4th previous size.

I think this issue may simply be a lack of clarity. Greg lists 2023 series releases and has minis series 4 as cancelled. Series 4 was originally anticipated in 2023 and got delayed. He may be referring to its release in 2023, which was cancelled (potentially delayed). He makes no reference to the fact that it may be released in 2024.

It is quite possible greg doesn't know the difference between cancelled and postponed....Greg sent me a PM after I reached out to him and he told me that someone (unfortunately, he didn't say exactly who it was) had told him that it was cancelled. I told him just now about the delay and where to find the info about it on here. Hopefully, this'll all be cleared up real soon.
I reached out to Susan Gray at Super Impulse (not sure her job title, but she was the one who got back to me when I wrote the company asking about the status of series 4) and here is her response about the series:
"Thank you for your continued interest in Wacky Packages Minis! It’s so nice to see a fan as engaged with the brand as we are! Unfortunately our Series 4 has been put on hold and we do not have an availability date. The series is designed and ready to go into production, but we do not have retail support to justify the investment at this point in time. So, the line is on hiatus, not canceled!"
Here's hoping that some retailers decide to place an order or do whatever it takes to make series 4 shift into production!
Walmart also distributed for them - They are HUUUUGGGEEE!!!!and CVS and Family Dollar, which have stores everywhere.

and CVS and Family Dollar, which have stores everywhere.
All this retail support from four giants just dried up?
Wish we could see all the data on the past sales
In Hawaii the same thing is happening, Walmarts are all self check out, any trading cards in the Kona store are behind the counter with the booze...
"I'll take a fifth of Jack and some of them trading cards"
Target in both Hilo and Kona have drastically reduced the trading card section...
I miss finding anything Wacky in the wild...
Don't feel bad Wackys are extinct in the wild everywhere.I know, the only place left to buy them is online directly from Topps itself. The days of finding them in brick-and-mortar stores seem to have gone the way of the dodo, just as I thought they would.
What bothers me more are most retail stores aren't carrying 4K, Blu-Rays or DVDs. Best Buy stopped altogehter, Target has an extremely small section. Walmart is my only hope for the time being. I know streaming has a lot to do with it, but some of us still want physical media.
Also, Target and Walmart are pushing music on vinyl now. While I do collect vinyl ; this move is a way to get us to pay $28 for new music instead of $15 on cd.Does anyone here remember how much a vinyl LP record cost on average in, say, the 1970s when I was a kid? I'd like to compare this with the current cost of LPs mentioned here.

And did anyone else besides me notice that 45' singles aren't even in the picture anymore?
LPs in the late 70s averaged around 6 bucks for a top 20 single disc releaseThanks, Neil. About $6.00 back then compared to about $28.00 right now, that's a big difference, indeed.
And did anyone else besides me notice that 45 singles aren't even in the picture anymore?I guess you're not really looking. As far as new music on 45s, that may generally be true. However, I just purchased the new Beatles single on 45 a couple months ago. Admittedly, I don't bother hunting down anything new on 45 or even LP as a rule...but 45s are not gone.

Might you have heard of a thing called inflation?Oh, I've heard of it...I just didn't realize it'd cost that much to buy a record.

And what about record players and record player needles? Are they both still around?
Friend of mine read a news story on the subject of vinyl prices, probably in the Wall Street Journal as that’s the only news source I know he reads every day. According to the article, the main reason for the elevated prices is that there aren’t as many people around with the experience necessary to operate and maintain the manufacturing equipment used to press vinyl. With several years gone by from the initial demise of vinyl to its resurgence as a ‘superior’ sound compared to CD, there are fewer of those folks around, and the ones who are command higher pay accordingly. While i’m not sure I completely buy that, it may be a contributing factor. I’m thinking there is an element of price-gouging as well. My initial thought is, why not just re-engineer and build up the production equipment from scratch, but maybe the demand is not great enough to justify that. Better to keep overhead low and pass on the production cost I guess. Thanks, that helps a lot. I was asking because I haven't seen anything like players and needles in stores like, say, FYE, but maybe stores like Walmart and Target would have them.
As to the other question, I don’t think you’d see vinyl discs being produced, and consumers willing to pay those prices, without the ability to play them. While you don’t see much audio equipment in stores, I’m sure it’s out there. Crutchfield, other online companies, etc

Thanks, Neil. About $6.00 back then compared to about $28.00 right now, that's a big difference, indeed.I didn’t start buying my own vinyl until circa 1983-1989+/-. Prior to that it was mostly cassettes for me. By that time I think current releases on vinyl ran about $10 to $12, but titles that were a few years old could often be found in the $6 to $8 range. A lot of it depended on whether you were buying from a small independent retailer, where prices always ran higher, vs a bigger chain store where better deals could be found. I remember looking for the round ‘nice price’ sticker which was always indicative of a good price.
I got 12 for a penny.Ah, you’re referring to the infamous mail-away record clubs, aren’t you? I did that a half dozen or so times in the mid-90s with CDs. You had to buy 3 or 4 at full price after the initial group to complete the ‘contract’ and you had to cancel in writing so it took some time and patience, but if you saw it through you were looking at $4 to $4.50 per CD when you average it all out, not bad at all. I saved hundreds doing that repeatedly.
