As of this upcoming Sat. We'll be 8 weeks out from the next non-sport show. It will be held at the Greater Oaks Expo center in Oaks, PA.
Looking forward to hopefully seeing all of you who were at the "21" Oct. Fall show and also those of you who haven't attended a show in over 3-4 yrs or more. I'll be in attendance on Sat. but won't be able to stay over. Let's get a possible head count. C-Ya all in 2 months.

I will be there again as well. Joe, thanks for the recent buys. I will be bringing lots of my extra stuff. Let me know if you want to meet up after we both rifle through everything at the show.

Are there any Wacky or other parody promo cards announced?
Still hoping George Wright continues the Galactic Groceries and ships me the last set I never received (March 2019?)

He wasn't at the last show (that was a first!) but hopefully he'll be at this upcoming one.

Yes as much as I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, Our Wacky brother George won't be at the May show and he also informed me that the fall one for him may be up in the air as well. Although his promos will be included in the admission pack for the show in 6 weeks. Looking forward to seeing Marc S, Bill C, Joe L, And the rest of the Wacky Bunch.

Can someone pick me up the promo pack? I'll pay for an entry pass!

How much are entry passes? Maybe I'll buy one to get all the free promos.
Anyone know what promos will be available or is it too early? The Philly website doesn't have info yet.

So how much are entries? For those of us who cannot attend, and would like a gift bag. :P
-
Before I ask, what promos are available this year? I would like an entry pass as well if the price isn't too high.
Otherwise, I hope there will be extra parody promos available here in the forum for a decent price.
Thank you!

I need a 1st series white-back Mutts if anyone happens to see one at the show. Or if anyone has one available now, I would be interested.

3 weeks out now as of yesterday, any one else think they can make an apperance either Sat the 21st or Sun the 22nd? The more Wacky collectors the better.

Some of us here in the Midwest cannot make Philly…will have to settle for Chicago show the week before Philly…..Have we ever figured out why there are so many more Wacky-heads (Wack-a-doodles makes us sound demented) out East than here in the Midwest?

Because Topps is located in the East. We easterners get the purest product. We are very close to the source. That makes us the Wackiest people!

Why does this sound like drug dealing?
Jim
Because Wackies are addictive, as we all can attest to ! >(
-
Isnt it true that the case of 16th series that surfaced years later was unearthed in the Midwest? So we are good for something.,,
-

I think it's more basic than that, regardless of where Topps is/was. There is a much larger/denser population in the East (esp. NorthEast) than in the midwest and most other sections of the country. It just statistically works that there would be more of us in that area.

Ahh, that explains why some of my packs purchased in Indiana were cut with the occasional baseball card. :]

I always consoled myself as a teenager in the 1980s by saying we here in the Midwest would be the last ones attacked in a nuclear war….My friend always pointed out that depending on the wind, the fallout would probably get us….

Its not always about inflicting the most death. Sometimes its about inflicting the maximum amount of terror. Yes bombing the coasts would kill the most, but bombing Middletown USA terrorizes the most.
don't want to be anywhere near it Jim

Hopefully none of us, or our children or children’s children will ever find out… Just trying to find something positive about living in flyover country. We also have abundant corn, pigs and cows, which makes for some excellent grub…

I AM ADDICTED! See you in 3 weeks Dr.S!

Looks like I might be going on Saturday. If so, I look forward to seeing you all.

While I am anxious to hand out some flyers I have created, my kids' lives dictate my life(which i thoroughly enjoy) and since I am the head coach of a softball team with practices both days that weekend, doesn't look to be in the cards for me to come. Does anyone attend these shows that tout 150 dealer tables? https://www.veteriproductions.com/trading-card-expo

I have not, but it looks interesting although probably mostly sports and mostly very modern.

It’s apparently going to be 90 degrees on Saturday. Just wondering if anyone recalls whether the Greater Philly Expo Center has adequate air conditioning.

From what I recall, the weather was mild for the spring show so the notion of air conditioning did not seem to come into play at all.
Others may recall differently.

You should call the venue as some places just flat out refuse to use air conditioning or aren't prepared to fire it up before a certain date. I know the office building I used to work had this issue, it was outrageous.

It was fairly cool at the Fall show, so I don't recall. Are you planning on going?

Yeah, that is the plan so far.

I'll be there, looking forward to seeing familiar faces! Not setting up this time, though.

Um, what is your definition of outside allentown? Anywhere in the US? It is about an hour from allentown

Good to hear. See you there then.

You May be Right-LOL.

Hope everyone has a good show :great:

Controversy can be avoided next time by being more precise with geography.

nice... may I ask what they set you back or did you obtain them in a trade? Jeff Mac

Did anyone go to the dinner last night? The new show is two hours from where I live. I may attend in the future; but the lack of wacky promos helped me decide not to attend this time.
-

PM sent.
It was also nice to see Dan McKee’s stand again. Cracked Animals PSA 6, two different graded Ratz (one was PSA 5, the other PSA 3). Tandache, plethora of ludlows, and you know the rest. It’s always cool to see stuff that you don’t normally get to see at the Philly show.

And more importantly I got three perfect condition monster initials cards from him for $10! 😂

I take it there were no Wacky Packages or parody-related promos at the show?

Great seeing you there, Richard!
Definitely one of my best Philly shows in a while, Great hanging out with Matt S, Dan M, Bill C, Joe L, and many other collectors this weekend, wish George W and a few collectors who haven't been to a show in a while could have been there. As the last show back in Oct, picked up a big lot of puzzle pieces and some complete ones from 1st-15th. Also helped out a couple of new friends from FB With a die/cut wrapper, some 2nd Ludlows, a couple of the promo packs, and some of the checklists and single stickers. A delicious meal consisting of chicken, pasta, salad, rolls, beverage, and dessert was served Sat. night at one of the host hotels. Heads up, dates for the fall Oct. show are the 15th/16th.
-
The show was pretty great. Lots of vendors, a fair amount of Wacky vendors which was great. I made some ne deals with shoe, got a few good deals, and went through Matt's huge stash of Wacky's to dig out quite a few stickers and packs that filled a lot of holes. Overall a great day, especially inside. It was nice and cool. Outside was brutal!
-
I wish I could have been there. The last show I made was back in 1999 when a bunch of us met at Greg Grant's later and got to drool over his wall of original wacky artworks. It is however a pretty big deal getting there since I live in FL. BTW, if anyone has a die-cut wrapper available in any condition I am buying as I have been trying to find one for a while.... 8)

Wow, with that somber music, it was kind of sad to watch this. Not at all the vibrant, crowded shows I remember. And it reminded me of my last time at Wondercon out here where all the vintage comic & card booths were like ghost towns. When Wackys were really huge in the late 90s/early 00s, I remember going to huge card shows where the 60s/70s/80s stuff was on fire with long lines of collectors pawing at stuff... and then there was always a couple old-timers with long beards (or bellies) sitting in a folding chair behind a card-table full of "Horrors of War" cards, or those ones with flags or airplanes, or even cigarette cards... and we'd all think, "oh man, who's going to buy that stuff anymore?". Then at the same time, looking at the flashy "Pokemon" booths, and foils, and gaudy new sets, thinking "crazy kids... they don't appreciate the classy art and gags of Wackys and Uglies and OddRods!" And here we are now, where "Pokemon" is considered 'cool vintage', and the torch has been handed.
-
I just don't get the appeal of Pokemon but some people are paying thousands of dollars for that stuff.

Agree, the video is dreadful and would be a terrible promotional item fir the show. Is the place clean? The floors just look dirty to me.

it's clean and more spacious than the Allentown location, but the food choices are a lot more limited than at Allentown.

depending on how far you want to drive.
