I wonder if Topps is planning a Wacky Packages Old School Series 10 for before 2021 ends.
If it is, and slamjim is working on it, I bet OS10 will be either:
a) All Wacky Packages entries of 1990's products.
OR
b) A mix of 10 each of Wacky Packages entries - 1970's, 1980's, and 1990's products.
-
He'll probably do all 70s products like the previous first 7 sets.

I believe it was mentioned here very recently that this year’s set would be 1980s. I may be misremembering.

Where did you know this? As they say in most Wikipedia entries - "citation needed".

It's the 1980s for this time around.

Are we ever going to have a Wacky Packages Old School 1990's set? Maybe for OS11 in 2022?

I'd prefer a few 1980's sets before moving ahead.

I still want a 1940s or 1950s set. Maybe a special Topps Print On Demand one-time release?

Topps has to make Old School Wacky sets a quarterly thing first like the Monthly Wacky sets.

Okay, as a historian and fan of the 1940s-50s era, I would love an "Ipaina" or "Inpaina" toothpaste parody, but would many others know the references? Then again, maybe it doesn't really matter. Living in the Midwest, we didn't have several of the East Coast brands that are parodied in the 1970s Wackys. I still enjoyed them! Also, it would be cool to see parodies of still-extant products in their 1940s or 50s style - like the 1950s Tony the Tiger (Frosted Flakes).

Here's another product from the 1950's that could be spoofed in a Wacky Packages Old School prequel (1940's-1950's) series: A spoof of Stopette deodorant called "Chopette deodorant" (Stopette was a 1950's sponsor of the game show "What's My Line?")

I've got an idea for another Wacky Website: Angri (Angi).

Okay, let's say, for the sake of argument, that such a set was a realistic possibility. If it were to be done, how many on this forum would buy it? If we are to convince the powers that be to try such an experiment, we would need to show thathem that the sales would be worthwhile. How about a show of hands?

Count me in! :great:

I know I would. I was just remembering some other non-Wacky parody sets that spoofed items from pre-1970s:
- Ballyhoo card game 1931. Ballyhoo was magazine at the time with spoof ads occasionally. The ads were incorporated into this card game.

It's Mr. Baloney's Comics, btw, and they were the backs of a Canadian parody trading card series called Baloney Ads. Mr. Foney's Funnies were the backs of Foney Ads, the U.S. counterpart to Baloney Ads. They both came out in the same year (1960), but from two different companies (Foney Ads from Leaf and Baloney Ads from Goodies Products). Baloney Ads was also a modified version of Foney Ads, too. Even the numbers of cards in each set were different - Foney Ads had 72 cards and Baloney Ads had 52 cards.

I would probably be more interested in a 1960s Old School set first since I was actually alive then. However, I would buy a 1940s-1950s Really Really Old School set, if nothing else, to see what products I would recognize--with different, earlier packaging, of course, which would be interesting, too.
-
I've already got all this mapped out through the next year or so which includes these ideas. Lots of big Old School stuff happening after the next set drops.

So in 2022 we could have a monthly Wacky Packages Old School series besides the current monthly Wacky Packages series? Which includes each month a different decade of Wacky entries for the Old School monthly series?

Monthly would be too ambitious. Dave has to illustrate all those parodies.

Are they considering using the 1985 box template to sell/ship them in? or some box/pack combo?

Having the mini box look like the 1985 box is my goal. I made samples of it last old School but it was too late. That at least led to the monthly sets having a front image though. I hated those blank black boxes. There is nothing to ID what's inside.

slamjim was calling a possible Wacky Packages (Really Really) Old School set to be a prequel set with pre 1967 products.

Just a heads up I had to push Old School 10 back a few months due to scheduling conflicts with another series for Topps that had to be moved up. It will now come out mid January.

Sorry to hear about the delay! Looks like we’ll be seeing 2 Ild School releases in 2022 now!!

This one only was bumped because I had to move 35 GPK paintings into the same time frame I'd have had to work on these. Needless to say that would be impossible so flipping it back a few months made sense.
A set in January and...elsewhere next year is definitely happening.

The more old school the merrier! Maybe monthly old school set would be nice! :great:

Dave - I was not aware you also worked on GPK - I imagine you are also active in the GPK collecting community? I was wondering if someone on this forum might know what the leading website/message board might be for GPK, basically the equivalent of this forum? I have a number of full boxes from the original series run that I would like to find one or more buyers for, and I’m thinking that connecting directly with their community may be a good route to take. Thanks for any info you can offer.

GPK Underground used to be the place for a while. I think they've basically moved to Facebook at this point.

Can I suggest no Covid jokes in the OS10 set?
Not that any would fit in with 1980's products. But after 2 years of Covid-news and politics fatigue, it would be cool to be immersed in the wild and fun 1980s again... when there was no Covid or radical polarization. OK, well, no Covid anyway.
-
There are definitely no Covid gags in the set.

Me too.

It will be interesting if I remember any products from the 90's :]
Didn't pay as much attention to products/commercials as I did when I was a child or teenager.

Where?
I did rough designs for some of the cards in the new Old School set, and Dave was kind enough to let me examine his artist's proofs. The difference between my scribbled cartoons and his final paintings is phenomenal! He is really on fire with this set!

How much money should i be setting aside for this set???

You'll be surprised at how much of the '90s you will remember! Dave picked some iconic products to spoof, and the gags will make you chuckle as you recall these items.
-
How much money should i he setting aside for this set???
That really depends on what you want to collect from the set. Last time they were $150 per complete base set, with lots of extra inserts included with the base set that you could sell off if you didn't want to pursue those sets. If you want to collect the inserts, prepare to spend a lot more.

I thought OS10 will be a 3rd. set of 1980's product spoofs, but now this set will include 5-10 1990's product spoofs?
-
The last Dave said, Old School 10 was to be 1980's products. I am looking forward to being surprised and hopefully won't accidentally see too many spoilers!
-
Jumping in for a quick sec to say the set is ALL 1980s, no 1990s.

Thanks for the clarification!

Hey David!
How’s Old School 10 looking for next week? Can you share any info on what the set format is going to look like?

So I’m guessing that today won’t be so wacky in regards to Old School 10. Any more details on release date or set info?

Had to wait for approval to sell Wacky Packages again since the turnover. Because WP Monthly comes out next week we needed to separate the two sets by a week so we flipped it to the 23rd. So monthly on the 9th and Olds on the 23rd.

Hmmm now that I think about it, I guess so!
That would have been an incredible waste of invested money. Even if Fanatics decides to cease producing a line with a devoted and steady "fan" base because it is small potatoes compared to MLB, they'd be terrible business people to waste artwork and planning for an entire set that is poised for launch. Good to see that they passed it for release, and here's hoping we can give it a good enough showing to keep the franchise going!!

Sorry, no idea. I didn't even work on the December set. I'm just coming back after a two month absence on the February set. Shipping and printing delays have been a huge problem throughout the industry the past few years thanks to Covid causing mayhem.
-
Some people are getting December shipping notices finally! So that's good to hear!

Now let's stay on topic for the due later this Feb. 2022 month at least Wacky Packages OS10...
I wonder, slamjim, if one of the OS10 1980's spoof entries could be a spoof of a 1980's Tomy The Get Along Gang skating plush doll - call it "The Get Ajerx Gang" and use the doll animal head morphed into the Ajerx person who has been seen in the Ajerx Cleanser (Wacky Ads and Wacky Packages Original Sticker Series 2) and Avenjerx DVD (Seen as a bonus sticker in Wacky Packages All New Series 11).
-
slamjim: Any update coming in the next few days on the Wacky Packages Old School 10 release due anyday now?
-
Last we heard was Wednesday the 23rd, so hopefully sometime this week!

Gosh…i havent seen veryfine juice since….the 80s or early 90s….

Yup! You are correct, Sir! (As well as spoofing our finny friend from the Black Lagoon!)

I can't wait! The Old School Series has been great! I have been a fan since day one. I am glad I picked up the Old School Collector Binder early on! I wonder if that is considered rare now.

After this 80s set I'm thinking of heading into a new era for a bit....

Maybe Wacky Packages Old School 11 in 2022-2023 could be all 1990's product spoofs?

After this 80s set I'm thinking of heading into a new era for a bit....
If this means the next set is all about the 90s, I can't wait for that either, here's some ideas for inspiration:
Pig [Pog]
Chef Buttardee eXcreMENt pAsta [Chef Boyardee X-Men]
Grape Misshape game [Grape Escape]

I don't think a Wacky Packages Old School 1990's series would feature any X-Men or Marvel comics spoofs after Disney did the C&D to Topps to stop making Disney/Marvel/Star Wars Wacky Packages that led to cancelling a planned 2014 Star Wars Wacky Packages series.
I hope Wacky Packages Old School 1990's features a Wacky Packages take on an Archie Sonic the Hedgehog 1990's comic book calling it "Sosic the Heavehog"!
-
Well, it could be the 90s...or maybe the 70s again...or maybe the late 60s die-cut era...or maybe I will do the 80s again. Got a long time to think about it!

I'm sure it's still limited by the number of sketches available.

Someone is either careless or can't do simple math. I get 57 cards in a pack and 91 cards in a full set...they need to update the page.
The Mad Caps are cards which look like pogs, sort of.

I think a vote should be done... I vote the 60's with the 70s a close second! 8)

Some of the artists have posted sketches on Facebook for this release. I am not sure if this was just a stylistic choice of displaying them or if there are some 4 panel sketches available:

No single packs for sale?
The checklist shows 30 stickers when it's a 31 base set.
According to the checklist in the ordering thing, these are my guesses for OS10 of what they spoof:
See Weeds - Kenner Sea Wees
Bagel Bit - Bagel Bites (Isn't that a 1990's product rather than 1980's?)
Ex' ca' vation - Either the Milton Bradley Concentration game or the Aggravation game
Donkey Wrong - A Donkey Kong spoof - either Donkey Kong cereal or the Donkey Kong video game
Mash Blunderhawk - A Nash skateboard or a M.A.S.K. action figure?

Very cool.
With one anachronism I've noticed.
Even though I long ago mis-estimated PB Max to have launched in late 1989, I've since learned that it didn't appear until 1990. Bonus 1990 product. 8)

I don't see any 4-panel in those pics. but one sketch is displayed much larger than the others.

Starlog it is!
-
I was hoping the same thing! I have a run of probably the first 200 issues, and remember the commercials on channel 11 when they showed Star Trek in the afternoon on weekdays. They zoomed in to the cover of the first issue with Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise. I don't ever remember any other magazine being advertised on TV!!
And I know "Split 'n Skedaddle" spoofs Kit 'n Kaboodle cat food rather than the Ideal Kitt 'n Kaboodle toy. And for "S'nores", does it spoof the Ralston S'mores Granola Bars or the General Mills S'mores Crunch cereal?
-
i know that Croco Crunch spoofs Choco Crunch, but what I'd like to know is: what's the spoof of the line on the box that came before it (i.e., Cap'n Crunch's Choco Crunch)?
I need to know this so I can put it in the Cap'n Crunch Wackys list in my thread on what's the most-parodied product of all Wackys. Can I see a picture of this one, please?

Remember if you bought three or more sets to LMK so you can be entered into the contest. Every three purchases gets you a name in the hat for the drawing. I currently have 15 people in the contest.
Also, I hear the amount of sets available is getting low so if you'd like one they are only available until around noon on Wednesday and possibly before that.

Is it 600 sets like last time? I got scared this morning when I couldn't add sets to my cart, and then saw a small message at the top of the screen telling me that I had to be logged in to the Topps website to order this product.

Remember how the 1982 album grouped parodies by product type, like magazines at a newsstand, medical/hygiene products in a bathroom medicine cabinet, etc? I’d love to see a themed lineup of all the fast food parodies from the ANS era side-by-side and critique, pick favorites, etc. I bet there are a lot more than one would first think. Would have to set aside a special section for Dunkin Donuts because it’s been spoofed so many times.

No idea what happened there. Maybe some kind of cancellation? I'll have to find out because if that person is in the contest and cancelled then they have to leave the contest.

For me, at least, Starlog was a magazine that I bought and read, cover to cover, which puts it on a whole different level above most of the other magazine Wackys. Fingers crossed for the art to be a part of the raffle and that the stars align for me :o

Just wondering Dave, is there a significance to the issue number being 42?

My guess, 42 was the answer to Life, The Universe and Everying in the Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe misnamed trilogy.

Coincidentally as I was going through my mounds of magazines in my garage I came across the first couple of years of this magazine - still a good read!

I do, I own an early 1970s box (which is the same as the late 60s launch box with a carve-out of white in the upper left, a later 70s box, and a late 80s box which I BELIEVE is nearly identical to the early-to-mid-80s box (which I'm pretty sure was the same as the late 80s design, but didn't include the blue shading in the background, so was mainly all-white).

Excellent! Sorry I spelled your name wrong. i before e!
I seriously wish I could replicate the flavor of Doo Dads and make my own at home, but there's always one thing missing.
-
I never had them. How were they different from Chex Mix?
-
I never had them. How were they different from Chex Mix?
Doo Dads had peanuts, cheese tidbits and different flavorings added. Chex Mix has rye chips, non-cheese tidbits and different flavorings added.
To me, it's like comparing night and day. Doo Dads were a lot tastier.
-
I also assumed that Chex Mix drove Doo Dads from the marketplace…what is next? Screaming Yellow Zonkers and Fiddle Faddle?
-
I also assumed that Chex Mix drove Doo Dads from the marketplace…what is next? Screaming Tellow Zonkers and Fiddle Faddle?
Actually, I've seen Fiddle Faddle at one of my local Dollar Trees. It used to come in these two varieties, Fiddle Faddle with Peanuts and Fiddle Faddle with Almonds. Now it comes in these two variaties, Caramel with Peanuts and Butter Toffee with Peanuts.
I can't say I've seen Zonkers lately, however, but it also used to come in two varieties, Screaming Yellow Zonkers and Screaming Nutty Zonkers.
-
Screaming Yellow Zonkers haven't been seen in years, to my knowledge, sadly.
-
I just looked it up and I'm afraid I have some bad news. Conagra discontinued Screaming Yellow Zonkers in 2007 after they acquired Lincoin Foods.
But there's also good news: Conagra has reissued it on a limited basis at Walgreens as of 2012 at various times.
Fiddle Faddle is also found at various U.S. discount and drug stores.
-
I always preferred Zonkers…Fiddle Faddle is too similar to Cracker Jack…its okay, i cant have any popcorn because of my fillings and crowns….

Agree - Zonkers had more of a buttery toffee flavor.
-
I liked the Zonkers without nuts. Love nuts and Zonkers...just not together.

I remember buying SYZ at Walgreens. Couldn't have told you the year, but 2012 sounds about right. I love that stuff!

The Canadian arm of Nabisco still makes a near-version of Doo Dads called "Bits and Bites". Last time I found it was a few years ago, and it wasn't easy to find up there, but it's definitely the Doo Dads seasoning formula if not the exact assortment of ingredients anymore.

I guess you can buy it on Amazon as an import, but a lot of reviewers complain that you need to spend a lot of money for just the tiny bag.
At this point, I'll just make a home recipe as close as the original as possible.

My hail mary hope is that, since it's still "kinda" made in Canada, Nabisco has the capability to produce it again. And, they might just get around to it one day. Crossing fingers.
The sad reality is, even giant companies like Mars and Nabisco can lose the practical ability to make certain products after a time. Some of it has to do with manufacturing capabilities and some with loss of recipes and so on. But it really happens. The assumption that billion dollar companies can do anything simply by way of spending the money isn't necessarily always true.
But in this case, producing Doo Dads again would actually seem to be within some realm of possibility.

They are both party mixes, but with significantly different flavor profiles. Hard to describe, but they are no more the same than Life Cereal is to Apple Jacks.
I wish I could do better in pointing out the differences. One is Chex Mix flavored, the other is Doo Dads flavored. :-)

Sorry for getting off the Old School subject! One last thing...
There are lots of "Doo Dads" recipes online that you can make at home. But a lot of these people are using the term "doo dads" like people calling printing copies "xeroxes". Some of these recipes have Cherrios and different nuts or spices. Nobody can replicate the original formula.
It was basically this formula:
Chex (Rice and Wheat)
roasted peanuts
pretzel sticks
Nabisco Cheese Tidbits (not sold anymore)
+ other flavorings

Even Kellogg's has copied Chex Mix using Crispix for its Crispix Mix.

Some of my friends used to make the chex mix at home and distribute it in sandwich bags - I recall that soy sauce was a main ingredient!
Doo dads was different and yes, it was probably the flavorings and cheese tidbits - I hadn't thought about that product in decades!

Quick update on the Old School contest. I have been waiting until we get closer to the actual shipping date to do it and I also am getting a donation of roughs from Pete Zies that were used for the set as giveaways. I have enough prizes for EVERYONE in the contest to get something now. So look for an announcement in this space soon.

You might check on the Topps website and look at your orders. I've not received a Fed Ex shipping notice before but found the item had shipped.
-
I placed 3 orders and got shipping notices for 2 of them. What is interesting is that for these Old School 10 orders, the estimated shipping date per Topps.com was "Mar 09, 2022 - Mar 11, 2022."
-
"Processing"
-
I got my shipping notice. says they will be here on the 12th
-
I got mine today. Have to go to work, will open when I get home tonight
-
Mine still says "Processing"
-
Mine says that the expected delivery date is today, but at 10:44 this morning the package was in Yulee, Florida, which is 585 miles away. Since I didn't pay extra for shipping, I'm sure they'll drive it up, so I'm not expecting it for a couple of days.
Why doesn't FedEx get smart and start multiplying their expected delivery time by four like Scotty, then they could look like miracle workers when it arrives early?
-
Received my notice Monday, and quite shockingly received my order last night!
Haven’t opened any yet, but did check out the box
Just the same old black box for On Demand, and not an old School box.
Bummer!!!

So you would want me to have this be an Old School set but I don't actually get to make any paintings?
I would say so. All you'd have to do is touch up the ones that are already done, finish the ones that aren't, and voila! The 1992 Series is done at last!
There's 39 of them left that I've found, but the only ones you might have problems with are the four Disney products. That still leaves 35, though, plenty for an OLDS series. And don't forget, the original 1992 Series plans, I believe, were for 55 stickers, just like the 1991 Series and most of the ANS run had. Fortunately, most of the Wackys planned for that series have already been released (mostly in ANS1 and Wacky Pack Flashback 2, with a few others scattered here and there), so you're okay on that part.
-

Oh no, no, no, you should get paid. It's going to take a lot work to get all 35 of those stickers ready for mass production, I should think.
Remember, a lot of these Wackys are still roughs. As far as I know, the 1992 Series was at least half-finished before Topps foolishly pulled the plug on it.

Running a little poll for Old School 11. What decade do you want? The winning decade doesn't mean it will happen as it's ultimately Topps choice but I'd like to see what everyone here would like regardless. Please post your WP Forum name under the decade with each answer so as others pick all the votes are there.

Orville Redenbacher was seriously legit.

Ah, drat.
Hate the be the vintage packaging nerd, but the Bagel Bites design parodied here is very much a 1990s iteration. Ore-Ida didn't even acquire the brand until 1991.
I actually do have a late 80s Bagel Bites box, but I've never published it anywhere. Sorry I didn't spot this earlier.
Still neat to see as these are all gorgeous!!

I don’t know if this question was answered yet, but #12 on the graduation set is different than the one listed on the checklist. I’m guessing it’s a last minute replacement. Anyone know?

For I guess twenty years I have been purchasing things directly from Topps or The Topps Vault and never had an issue when something was shipped UPS or USPS.
With the monthly sets and the OS sets, everything comes Fed Ex and it never disappoints. No joking but I don't think I've had an order that has not experienced some sort of hiccup when it comes to federal express. For the past four days my cards have been sitting an hour away in Allentown. Initially a 4/17 delivery is now a 4/19 delivery. Unbelievable.

My sets have been sitting in UPPER MACUNGIE TWP for the last 3 days. I feel your pain.

I'd like to see the 1960's covered next. Either that or pre '60's or the 1970's. Nothing beyond the '70's for me.
-
I was born in the late 60's so packaging from then would be unfamiliar.
80's I did not play with toys, so I guess I would not like to see any toy packages from the 80's, supermarket packaging I would remember.
LucidJC - 70's
That's what I remember!

I wonder what this is attributable to. Are there still so many people out sick at some of these locations making it impossible to move packages for days at a time?

I read in the Wall Street Journal today that USPS has proposed sweeping cuts that would make about 1/3 of its packages go from a 2-day delivery time to 4 days….

My neighbor recently retired from Fed Ex and if the stories he told me are truthful or even partially truthful, I understand why every Topps order I've had shipped through it has experienced an issue. Those issues range from completely non updated tracking, destroying a label, taking longer than it should, etc..,
I don't blame Topps for what Federal Express doesn't do but I wouldn't mind if it different shipping options were available.
-
My OS10 sets have been sitting in Ellenwood, GA, since Friday, and if Fedex lives up to its history, my sets will continue to sit there for at least a week. My February sets were the worst case! My Feb sets sat in Ellenwood for a week; once they arrived at Dallas, TX, that facility had to replace the label because it was "unreadable" by then. I didn't receive my Feb sets until two complete weeks after I received the shipping notice from Topps. I'm bracing for the same scenario, but hoping for the best.

With OS10, too many good cards to list.

Dave - One thought would be to not issue all titles exclusively for one decade, but rather issue titles proportionately based on the number of votes received in this poll. So most titles would be 1960s but there would also be some fewer number of titles for each of the other decades.

Weigh in on this! Winner-take-all or proportional?

While I don't believe this is the kind of issue that a "vote" will have any impact on, from an artist's standpoint, I would say that each set should focus on a single time period. That way, the various cards would complement each other. A mixed set would clash. There are variations in style depending on the decade being parodied, and hopping all over the place would impact the quality of the renditions. One Decade At A Time! - Pete
-
I always thought a 1950s set would be cool to see! We already seen parodies from the 1960s until the 1990s.

I think Topps would only go for one decade at a time. We base the subset cards on the decade and if we did the 60s we could make the backs look like the diecuts. I'm surprised that the 60s is running away with this vote. I was sure the 70s would be the pick. I'm feeling inspired...

More issues with the Pittston depot? Hardly shocking. Just hope you don't have the same guy who delivers to me.

Maybe Newman left the Postal Service and is working for FedEx in Pittston?

still curious about what happened to having an Old School box for this set, vs the generic black Topps On Demand box?

Anyone else notice that Old School 10 cards are cut slightly crooked. I bought a set from a forum member and they all appear to be slightly crooked.
I don't know if it's an optical illusion and they are printed crooked, or if the cards themselves are not cut square.
I looked at some ebay photos of sets sold from various people, and it appears that problem is widespread.
It's not the end of the world, just a minor annoyance.
-

Or maybe OS11 could be 15 entries from one winning decade and 15 entries from the second place decade.
slamjim: If you do 1990's Wacky Packages Old School entries - even for OS11 and/or later - why not a Wacky Packages take of an 1990's Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog comic book?
-
Hey, Dave -what happened with the giveaways?
-
I’ll go on record as saying “any Wacky is a good one!”
-
Hey all,
Just giving everyone a heads up that I've had to delay the drawing for the prizes until after June 13th. Most likely within a few days around that time. Personal stuff and overwhelming deadlines until then are preventing me from putting in the time to do it right. I have acquired enough prizes so that everyone will get one at least so please just be patient for about a month and then the fun will begin!
-
Welp. The Olds drawing will be this next weekend. After posting that last message I ended up with Covid which destroyed me for three weeks and I'm just starting to dig out of my work hole thanks to that. Everyone gets a prize though so look for the results here next weekend.
Thanks,
Dave

Three weeks for c19 is a bad one. Even after it is gone it seems to require time in order to get to normal but I guess that is better than it not going away if you get my drift.

I keep missing stuff. Anyone who bought cases want to sell an unopened OS10 box to a completely out-of-touch, original Mag-7 collector? Don't have the $ for the playing cards, but I think I can afford some OS10 fun if anyone can spare one. (I'll try to check on here more often this month.)

Sadly, there no boxes for the last few series of Old School, but you can pick up a base set of Old School 10 on ebay for maybe $30 or so.
-
No box or packs? What's the fun in that? I thought the whole point of the OS side-sets were to satisfy that nostalgic feeling of opening vintage packs. I'm I missing something (again)? Guess I'm REALLY out of the loop not knowing that the coolest part of those sets had been expunged. Hmm. Supply & demand, I suppose.

The last boxes were OLDS 5. OLDS 6 through 10 have all been only through Topps' website, if I'm remembering correctly.

I miss the pack-opening very much. Probably one of the reasons I've enjoyed the 3rd series of Minis is that it's the closest we have to opening Wacky packs these days. Have you picked up any of those? All original series titles and distribution that's far better (not that that's saying much) than the first two series.
-

Yes, you've got it. That 's exactly right. The boxes and wax wrappers were only in OLDS 1 to OLDS 5. Then there was a slight gap, and after it was picked up again, it was changed to sealed clear plastic boxes from OLDS 6 all the way to the current OLDS 10. All 10 series were only available through Topps' online store.
And in case anyone wants to know, OLDS 1 to OLDS 7 had 1970s products parodied, while as of right now, OLDS 8 to OLDS 10 have had 1980s products parodied. In addition, 10 products from the 1970s were parodied in the Old School subset of the 50th Anniversary Series. Products from the 1990s have not yet been parodied, though they probably will be someday.
Even the number of stickers has changed. There were 33 stickers each from OLDS 1 to OLDS 5 and 30 stickers each from OLDS 6 to OLDS 10. Counting everything as it stands currently, 330 products from both the 1970s and the 1980s combined have been made into OLDS Wackys...and that ain't bad, to quote Jack Nicholson in the film Mars Attacks!.

Except that 85% of them were different parodies of either Captain Crunch or Frosted Flakes. Of course I'm ridiculously exaggerating, but certain products have just been parodied a massive number of times in different ways (as is more fully laid out in a different Forum thread)! Kind of just shows the creativity and imagination of some of these Wacky creators...

That's mostly been done in the modern series from 2004 onward, but as far as the creativity and imagination part is concerned, you're right on the ball!

In all 330 Old School designs/ products I did no repeat ANY original series titles in either the 70s or 80s sets. That has always been my top goal. All cereal parodies were of products never parodied before in WP. Cap'n Crunch designs were of Cap'n Crunch variations (Choco and Punch) so I would disagree wholeheartedly with this.
Now the weekly/monthly sets? Yeah, it's been the same products over and over again. That has to change.

Right, but Old School is actually the exception because there are no products in them that have been done in the OS, ANS or the weekly/monthly (unless someone did them AFTER Old School). And I think someone did do some Monster Cereals and Quisp after I did them

No disagreement here!

An OLD SCHOOL set hasn't done a parody of the short lived 1981-1982 Banana Frosted Flakes yet!

Hi All, well after a long wait here are the winners of the Old School giveaway. I had 20 people enter and instead of just the top three or five people EVERYONE of the twenty will get a prize! Everything is from Old School but from various Old School series nit just the latest one. I put everyone's name on a wheel of chance and each person had one name except people that bought more than three sets. For every three sets after the first one an additional name of that person was added. So the amounts ranged from 1 to 15 chances for some people. Once a name was pulled I removed all of that person's name.
Thanks for supporting Old School and I will contact each person to make sure I have updated mailing info and these will be shipped out this week.
