Hi folks,
I am new here, but I guess eager. I suddenly realized an error on my part. I almost exclusively collect 1985, 1991 Topps and 1992 OPC. I know these are more modern sets in comparisons to those of the 1970s. However I mistakenly thought these were part of the original series, because they were not part of the ANS branding. I guess these are two failed (original) restarts - so those conversations belong here in the more general discussions, I guess. Sorry for posting in the wrong area.
Which brings me to a question and why I started a new thread.
I am noticing the prices for wax packs from 1985 and 1991 are starting to get expensive. Besides using past sales on eBay, do you have a reliable handle on what prices for wax boxes from these years should cost. I am seeing $180-280 for 1985 and $75-100 for 1991 (slightly more for OPC).
Thanks all

The 1985 series is finally starting to come into its own which is evidenced by the increasing prices. Some sellers are highly optimistic while others are a bit more grounded. A good conditioned box of 85's in the mid to upper 100's sounds right. A garbage box in the low 125's seems the norm while a great condition in the low to mid 200's is what I'd expect.

I think my punctuation got you

I am seeing 1985 at 180-280 on eBay - there is no way to know fair price without talking to you folks. 🙂💪

If you’re passionate about owning a full box, I would take the plunge on the 1991-92 set sooner rather than later. $75-$100 may sound like a lot, but for a 48-pack box it’s still only $2 a pack or less, won’t break the bank.
For the 1985’s, the economic pragmatist in me would take a look at the 1986 album sticker set, which reprints many from the 1985 as well as some of the 1973-76 originals. If you don’t mind the smaller format but would like to get them cheaper than a 1985 box, look into it. I’m sure Greg’s site has a complete checklist you can reference to see what titles are in the set. One caveat though - there is a collation issue such that a single full box may not guarantee a full set. I think some boxes only contained 44 of the 77, and others the other 33 of 77. Again, Greg’s site probably explains it more accurately than I am here.

Thanks for the comments. I do have 1985 and 1991 boxes. Just amazed at how fast the prices jumped.
The 1985 box - there is one seller on eBay at 180, and then the only other is $280. I am just watching the market in awe. I always assumed there was a glut of product. I am happy to see it, just amazed. And the important thing is people are buying at $180…
Never really had nostalgia for 1986 set, but thanks for pointing me to it.

Right now on Fee bay there is a 1991 full box for $75

Absolutely. It used to be like 40-50, from what I can tell. Greg was telling me he used to sell at $20. So we are seeing the rise of all things, I guess. I was trying to understand if that’s what you all are seeing, I only have eBay as my only data point. $75 seems like a lot but maybe that’s the new normal?

I hear you on the nostalgia factor, I’m the same way. I haven’t ‘sealed the deal’ on OS 1-16 because certain series that I completely missed as a kid don’t have that nostalgic pull like other series I remember well. Of course the completist in me would like to finish the rest, but 16th prices killed those dreams.
