I have a friend who is set up at a flea market every Sun. and I introduced him to some of the newer Wacky sets today. Like many of us on here, he recalls collecting the original 1-16 series and absolutely loved them. I'm parting with the sets mentioned above and wanted feedback on what these sets are currently valued at. ANS is base sets only and Old School has no sketch cards. Look forward to all replies. Shoe.

Just so I don't confuse anyone on here, I don't want to sell these to any of the forum members as I'm quite positive most of you have them. I want feedback from anyone who may know the current value of these so I can come up with a price for my friend I mentioned.

Mark, I think the fact that everyone here is well-stocked in these base sets is the very reason we’re a bit out of touch with what the market is for the casual flea market shopper you’re targeting. My suggestion would be to check completed listings on eBay from sellers who are selling these sets on a revolving basis. That should be a reliable indicator of what people are willing to pay. The only limitation to that is I don’t think prices on completed listings are shown when a Best Offer is agreed to that’s less than the asking (“Buy It Now”) price.
-
I’d be curious what prices NSU magazine is indicating these days. Most issues don’t have comprehensive listings though. I’ll check the couple of recent copies I have tomorrow, and if ANS/OLDS prices are listed I’ll post what it shows.

Strange coincidence, I was putting my new insurance cards in the glove compartment last week, and an index card fell out. It shows what I used to charge the comic shop for my extra sets, and then he sold them for double (except ANS1, that he marked up about $5). Once a month or so he has a 20% off everything in the store sale. He managed to sell whatever I brought him.
ANS1 $10
ANS2 $5
ANS3 $6
ANS4 $6
ANS5 $6
ANS6 $7
ANS7 $4
ANS8 $6
ANS9 $6
ANS10 $6
ANS11 $6
Flashback 1 and 2 $4
Old School 1 $5
Old School 2, 3, 4 and 5 $7
ANS7 and Flashback are so low because I am still hip deep in those. I really should build some more sets and visit the shop....... but now I'm hip deep in Weekly Wackys :o
Hope this helps!
-
I'm similarly deep in Chrome.
-
I threw out 100's of ANS sets. Couldn't get .25 for them.

You can always give them to the kids at Halloween. Maybe it'll spawn a new generation of Wacky Packages lovers.

I've done that. Also gave some to the neighbor's grandkids, my co-workers' kids, and two clerks at the Post Office who call me the Wacky Lady because I like to put Wacky stickers on my envelopes. Some of older stickers no longer stay stuck, but the new Weekly stickers do!

I have a box of probably 1000 chrome cards. i think I will wallpaper an area in my house with them one day. Might look cool. ;)

Are you sure that's why? :)

My two issues of NSU from the past year have very abbreviated price guides - Wacky Pack listings start with 1967 Die Cuts, then leap through a time machine to Go to the Movies. Useless. However, an older 2015 issue with a more complete, separate price guide shows this:
ANS 1 $17
ANS 2 $15
ANS 3, 4, 5 $10
ANS 6 $15
ANS 7 $18
ANS 8, 9 $12
ANS 10 $10
ANS 11 $12
Flashback 1, 2 $10
OLDS 1, 2 $10
OLDS 3 $25
OLDS 4 $8
OLDS 5 $5
Chrome $25
I don’t really get why the higher prices for ANS 7 and Old School 3. Generally some price variation for ANS should be expected due to different series sizes, but $18 and $25 for base sets just doesn’t look right. And Old School 5 looks too low compared to the other series.

That is pathetic.

yes don't throw away. I will pay for the shipping. I give them to kids at shows to get them interested in Wackys to keep the hobby going. Anyone who has base cards that they are at wits ends about. put them in a if it fits it ships box send me your PayPal info and I will pay the postage for them.
Thanks

So Mark, now that we’ve tripped over ourselves to look for pricing info, did you put sets on sale over the weekend? What prices did you decide on?

So far, I've sold the 1st 4 ANS Boxes for $65.

The Shoegate cover up.

Maybe he meant to say sold 4 ANS sets, not boxes, and just typed it wrong.

-
Maybe he had 4 “Shoe-boxes” loaded up with wrapped collated base sets. Then again, one would hope to net more than $65 for that kind of quantity.

Just so I can clear the air for you and the 3 others who posted a comment on my thread recently, I sold my 1st 4 sealed boxes, ANS 1, 2, 3, And 4. And for anyone who may need them for some reason, I am selling the base sets from 1-11 as well. Those I'm asking $5 each on and the 7 remaining sealed boxes $15 each.
-
Ah, we’re just messing with you silly. I’m guessing these are all the smaller boxes, the Target/Walmart/TRU bonus boxes?

I'd suspect he's referring to the regular boxes, like this one:

I wasn't messing with him, or being snarky, I was just confused.

Yes indeed.

They be the ones, Son.

Sorry for any confusion.

Well, I'm still confused - first you said moldrush was right that you sold the small Target/Walmart/TRU bonus boxes, and then you said bigtomi was right, and they were regular boxes. I'm giving up now and will just wish you good luck with whatever you are selling.

Yeah, Shoe, both MoldRush and I can't be right. Which is it?
On second thought, never mind.

Sorry about that Pat, didn’t mean to suggest you were, but rather the posts following, which were heading in a more absurdist direction, mine included.

Bigtomi is the one who is right.

I'm beginning to think I never should have posted this and just stayed in bed all day-LOL.

Good comeback Mark.
BTW, saw your smiling face on the cover of a back issue of The Wrapper from 1995, currently listed on eBay (Books > Magazines category). Looks like images from the most recent big card show at the time.

That's a keeper!
Since it has changed to a pick on Mark topic, I always wonder why you have
so much space before you write anything. JK - you have our love, Mark.

I have been doing that for years! I have given out chrome and extra Old Schools over the few years. I gave a Weakies refactor several years ago to a kid about 10 years old and he almost flipped! He said and I quote, " Dude, I mean Sir! That is soo cool!"

I just gave my apartment manager a stack of wackys to give out during the "Covid trick or treat ".... which is the kids walking up to her to get candy.... this is the life we are living in now.... I remember as a kid in the early 70s, we would travel several blocks and come back with a huge bag of candy....

I liked getting candy, but getting Wackys would have been the BEST treat!!

Trust me, I'm used to being picked on on this forum, these people have known me for many yrs and I'm very proud to call them friends and some of them are just like family.

I only got cards of any kind a few times, but all were exciting gets which I remember fondly and still have most of to this day.
-Sugar Daddy Pro Faces (tiny skinny sportcards with photo player faces on cartoon bodies, inserted in Sugar Daddy pops)
-Fleer World Series (Laughlin cartoons)
-Fleer Team Action (football action scenes)
If I had gotten Wackys, forget it, I would have fainted. Wackys and Halloween combined would have been an overdose of kiddie heaven. And if there were monster titles included, like Playskull or Scary Lee, forget about it, call the paramedics.
-
I will never forget the Halloween that one house in my neighborhood was giving away wackys....4th series. Me and my friends went there three times before we were afraid they would start to recognize us.

I've always assumed it's a pregnant pause. A way to build suspense for the big final
punchline.
