Title: Wacky Packages Old School Series 1 and 2 release dates
Post by: mikecho on December 04, 2018, 07:57:50 PM
Can someone please tell me what the dates of release were for OLDS Series 1 and 2?

I have February 2010 for Series 1 and late March 2011 for Series 2.

Thank you.

Can someone please tell me what the dates of release were for OLDS Series 1 and 2?

Thank you.
OLDS 1 had a truly wacky story, as I recall. It was a pre-order in August of 2009. Didn't attempt to ship until early December, 2009. Then there was a print error discovered prior to shipping and Topps made the printer redo everything. Then the wrappers were delayed a while. My best guess is Feb 2010 is when we got them.

OLDS 2 was another pre-order in Nov 2010 and it appears they were shipped late March 2011.

This is the best I have. Anyone have more accurate/precise data?

Thanks. I already knew the months and years; what I really need is the days of the months.

I will almost certainly regret this, but here goes: why is an exact date needed?

I'm putting the dates into the Wacky Packages article on Wikipedia. I've got all the dates of release for the OLDS run in there except for Series 1 and 2.

In fact, I've improved that article a lot. That's not bragging, it's a simple fact.

Look up the article and see for yourself. I've learned a lot from you guys and this forum and I've put that knowledge to good use.

I understand and appreciate your lazer focused attention to details mikecho. Even those that are not super duper important  ;)

I had an idea yesterday. How about Minutiae Maid Concentrated Orange Juice? (She will organize your kitchen junk drawer while you eat breakfast.)

I wonder who chose Gulp to headline the page  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wacky_Packages

There was an article in the last issue of The Wrapper that deciphered the stamped code on the shipping cases.  Anyone have a shipping case of OLDS Series 1 or 2?

Example: 311782 = 3rd Quarter, 1st Month, 17th Day, 8th Year, 2nd Shift = July 17, 1978, 2nd Shift

To be completely honest, I can't take all of the credit for this. The person who wrote the article in the first place already had many of the dates in there; I just filled in what was left based on what I found out and/or learned about.

I like Minutiae Maid! (With exactly 178 pieces of pulp per container.)

And I agree, Gulp is not one of the titles I would have thought would be headlining the page.

from my old emails, I have ones from Dave stating Old School 1 boxes would start shipping on 2/23/10
and another where he states that Old School 2 had started shipping on 3/28/11

Thanks, Patrick, you've been very helpful! It's all in now.

I think that this page can be locked, now that it's served its purpose.

I also agree. I would have put in something like, oh, I don't know, Wormy Packages.

As I said before, I think that this subforum can be either locked or deleted, now that I've gotten what I wanted out of it.

Could someone please do this for me?
