Title: WHO uses Dial. October's ParoTee design
Post by: Joe G. on September 30, 2017, 02:22:02 PM
So for October we have a twist on a classic brand parodying a classic Sci-Fi TV show - Dial-X, deodorant for Time Lords!  As before Tees this month will be at a 10% forum discount, so a Fitted Tee is $22.50 and a Classic Tee is $18.  Once again they're available in a galaxy of colors from outer space (Black) to Cyberman Silver (Grey).

Cards are printed and ready to ship.  They're $5 shipped and please use Paypal friends and family if possible.  All cards ordered this weekend will be shipped first thing Monday.

As before, if you purchase a Tee from Threadless, you'll get the Dial-X card FREE (shipped separately)!

In addition, the sketch offer continues but once again with a twist. This time you'll need to take a picture of yourself in the Tee with with your favorite Sci-Fi poster, magazine or collectible, post it on Facebook or Twitter and PM me with the link.  So perhaps a picture of yourself holding a Phaser or with your favorite Droid would be in order!

Here's the link for the Tee:

Now without further ado, here's the Wacky goodness:

Bonus: Here's a quick sketch I did showing the Wacky in action.  Aren't you glad Horrid uses Dial-X!

Threadless up and running!

Man, there are a lot of colors to choose from!  It seems as if you have the entire spectrum listed!  I was going to go with basic "black" for that bad ass, hard-edge look, however the black title border mysteriously disappears, absorbed, as it were, into the rest of the shirt.

Not to be deterred, I instead went for a complimentary, bright and bold "cyan" (along with a pair of men's Red Wing dress boots with equestrian-inspired value, secured by dual adjustable buckle strap details, as well as a pair of jeans by Vanquish, a streetstyle-inspired denim that not only "embodies a stylish masculine ideal," but will also fits right at home with my Gucci calfskin leather belt with wolf head buckle.)

Thanks, Joe!

Note: I can't believe the garbage spewed on the sites I lifted the above words from!  Amusing, in a perverse, disturbing kind of way.  Does anyone actually buy into this crap?  WTF?  Now I know why I feel so darn lost and empty and hopeless inside.  I've never owned footwear with "equestrian-inspired value!"  That's the key!  Watch out, world, here I come!

Rob, thanks for the purchase.  In terms of your other fashion ideas, I'll have to go with the old robot saying "Does not compute"!  Your Dial-X ParoTee card will be in the mail Monday!

Yeah, it doesn't compute with me, either.  In fact, it's really beginning to bother me.  And just think of all the companies spending all that money hiring all those people to write all those blurbs.  Astounding!  Truly astounding!

There's nowhere safe except to retreat back into unreality (i.e. Wackys!)

Thanks again, Joe!  Looking forward to both!

LOL! great job on this one. all the jokes tie together really well and are combined with a strong visual component. Looks like I'll be buying my first ParoTee!

Strong enough for Davros, but made for a female Doctor.
Oh wait, wrong deodorant!

Patrick, thanks!  I knew there where a few Whovians in the Wacky crowd!  I think you've hit on something with your "made for a woman" idea.  Now that the 15th Doctor is a woman maybe a pink variation of the can with some variation of "Strong enough for a man but made for a woman" is in order!

I like "Strong enough for Davros but made for a female Doctor" but wouldn't mind opening it up for suggestions.

Anyone have any other ideas?

I only watched up through the Sylvester McCoy years, around 1989, but I think there's still a sonic screwdriver around here somewhere...........  Tom Baker was my favorite (there might even be a very stale box of Jelly Babies here, too  :P).  I even painted lead figurines of Tom Baker, Daleks, and Cybermen.

I had the great fortune to meet 6 of the 7 Doctors from the original run.  Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee were fantastic together in person!!

Pat, I am so jealous!  To have met Troughton and Pertwee is too incredible!  I met Tom Baker way back in 1979 while he was king of WHO!  I think I've met all the subsequent Doctors at conventions with the kids.  Most still do con appearances!  Any suggestion for the Female Doctor variation of Dial-X?

Around 1986, there was a a Doctor Who "convention" in a small theater in Manhattan, with the actors telling stories and answering questions from the audience.  The "dealer's room" was just a table or two by the entrance - aside from Jelly Babies, I think they had little things like bumper stickers with a Tardis or a Dalek and "Exterminate!" and some buttons, etc.  After the show, a table was set up for the actors, and you could talk to them and get autographs.

Not sure about the female variation of Dial-X, need to think on it.

That show sounds too awesome!  Imagine seeing 6 Doctors at once.  Usually now only one or two show up at a Con.  So great they sold Jelly Babies.  The first time I had them was at Epcot in 1986.  They had stores from different countries and the UK store sold them.  I now buy mine on Amazon.

I don't think there were all 6 Doctors at that one NYC show.  I know I met Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy at ICon on Long Island.

Well Pat regardless of when you met them you certainly met the best of the Doctors!  I will say though that David Tennet's run (11th Doctor) is worth a look.  If you haven't seen any of his yet, I'd recommend starting with the episode "Blink" from 2007.  It's very Sci-Fi and cool and it stands alone so you don't need to watch it in continuity.

Joe, I just sent payment for your new card. I love it! I am a big DR WHO fan!

Mike, thank you!  Initially I was a litttle hesitant to do this one as I wasn't sure who would get this card!  Well I was sure WHO would get this card but wasn't sure how many Wacky collectors were Whovians.  So glad it's going over well.  To anyone who isn't into WHO but wants to see what the gag is, just Google Dalek (pronounced Dial-X) and you'll see what I was going for.

Wish I was a Dr. Who fan so I could appreciate the gags! LOL. Still a great card IMO, and ordered.

Brian, yeah, this one was very fandom specific!  I knew Dr Who fans would dig it and anyone else would scratch their heads, kinda like I do any time my kids talk about what's cool today!  i tried to go very classic and 70's on the design as a way to compensate.

Got my shirt yesterday, and it looks fantastic!  Looking forward to the card arriving next week - it's fun adding a new card to the page once in a while.
