Hey gang,
This forum has really begun to take off. I thought it might be a good idea to make a list of Forum Ids and names(first and/or last name whatever people are comfortable) so newbies can know who is who and for us old timers to re-catch up on this. I will reupdate this first post with a running list as people respond.
Not everyone seems to have put any info in the profiles and I don't know if that is because they don't know how, just never got around to it.
Everyone up for this?

Good idea. Do you want posts or PM's to update the list? I don't see a place on our profile page for our real names.
I was going to put my name on my "About Me" link, but the link doesn't work for me. (does anyone's? doesn't seem to be a link...)
A list would be helpful for newbies to keep track of the Daves, Marks, Robs, and other variations of common titles.

It'd be really nice for people such as myself (a relative newcomer to the forum) to know who the Wacky Artists are on the forums (highlight them somehow). I have been able to pick up information from the conversations, but it would be really nice to have a list to refer to.

Ok, let's step back a second... All I'm requesting, is that in Bandaches list he could put the Wacky Artists in a separate section and label it "Wacky Artists". Make sense? :)

I am leaving it up to each person to volunteer that they want to be listed at all. In addition, I will leave it up to each artist if they want to be called out as such on the list.

We prefer to keep the artist's identities a secret. It's for national security purposes. Just be assured in the knowledge they are working hard to keep our country safe for the parody of packaged products.

I presume they believe you did this to be at the top of the heap Ernie.
Do you have a grudge against Zenergizer and enjoy seeing him at the bottom of the pile?
{Are you sore because Paul (also) beat you in the football pool?}
No, hold on, I see alanms, All-Brain, Arcadedl, AwfulBits, Babyruthless and badhaircut could potentially knock you off. Of course someone could blow the whole lot of ya away by adopting Achoo! (it would be nice if Greg would lighten up and do something like that, hun Blandaches? Maybe someday...) Achoo is a great title for an avatar someone needs to snap up. Hey, I see someone signed up as cult45 about a week ago. I wonder if that member knows it comes with a bit of baggage.
I like this list. In addition to being very handy, it provides a different sense of community, to see everyone’s name like that (sappy me). I forget people’s names here and mix people up (you know who you are - sorry bout that). I normally have a hard time with names, so this whole avatar thingy really throws my Simpleton mind for a loop. Seems simple enough, but considering I sometimes struggle to remember coworker’s names such as Ted and Joe, remembering 2 names per person is a doozey.

I was thinking the same thing. And for some reason I started hearing that Yes! song in my head (actually the Buggles version): I Am a Camera -- great song!

and now I'm hearing that song (aka: Into The Lens on the Yes album) as well as "I am a Camera" from Gentle Giant's Civilian album released the same year (1980) as Yes' Drama album.

As I roll through the list, I am amazed at how many people who I didn't know their first names, I got so used to thinking of them by their forum id. Still many many regular visitors not on the list yet....

No relation to Neil...we've already tried to find a connection since it's not a very common name...at least in the USA, but there are towns in Southern Italy where it's as common as Smith or Jones.
It's pronounced CA-MARE-UH, but I've been getting the common Kodak/Poloroid pronunciation ever since the first teacher read my name off the rooster in kindergarten. Usually I don't even bother to correct people anymore.

Interesting.
I had originally thought Neil's last name was a "pen name".
Sorry about the yet-another-film-type-camera-inadvertent-association!
<off_topic>
(And I completely forgot the Yes! version of the song was Into the Lens. I still prefer the Buggles version I Am a Camera (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOTd1MzQdBg). Read this somewhere: Just a note, this song was originally written as a demo for what would become Adventures in Modern Recording. After they joined Yes, and with input from the other members of Yes, it became what is "Into the Lens" on the Drama album. When they resumed working on the second Buggles disc, they reworked it into "I Am a Camera.")

A lot of people tend to add an "N" at the end, and pronounce it, "Cameran". I still can't figure that one out!

I’m speculating some folks have a bizarre subconscious desire to turn your last name into a double hulled sail boat.

Hows the family doing? I bet Ben is getting big! You would not believe Gage. He is just about as tall as me now. I can not believe how time goes by so quickly.

Cool. Let me know if you need any, I have a lot of borderless Wackys. Heck, I even have some that have the border on them. You can just go ahead and peel that pesky border right off of them if you like!

why?...are you a cop?...what will you do with this list?
I'm not real sure either.

I think the list is helpful so folks can address one another by their first names (if they desire). I often try to do that. Since we have no where in our profiles to indicate a first name (or full name) this is a good alternative. Now, if Brad could add a field to profiles to allow for a first name to be entered and IF people went back and added them, this list wouldn't be needed.

You could put your name in the ultimate profile under about me.

uh, oh, Brad is off in never never land looking for ulterior motives again.....Earth to Brad....come back home again....... :P
It just seemed to me it would be neat to know the names of folks as I have often gotten emails from folks and had no idea they were forum members. If someone wants to stay private and annonmous, so be it, no biggie. Plus, the strong list adds extra emphasis on just how strong this forum is right now if you really need to get your ulterior motive fix satisfied!
-
I see a few well known collectors here i know that are not on the list yet.
It's funny,,when i got back into collecting wacky's a few years ago i thougt 1000's of people were really "into" them like most people here on the board are.I see now that only a few hundred really serious "collectors" exist and i would guess a few 1000 that were collectors but don't stay up to date with all the new stuff or upgrade the 70's cards they still have.
You guys have been in this hobby for decades now,,,what's your take on it?

I totally agree, I like to have first names interacting with members, but I also like making the connections with eBay transactions, and it helps me with trading once I know who is who.

I have done that already but not everyone might intuitively think to do that.

Time to bring that enthusiam back as things are good, Old School, Post Cards and ANS sets, a fresh new forum with a variety of discussions, wacky seem hot again as I have had to shut down a couple of times due to the backlog of private deals! You gonna be able to make a show now that they are in Allentown?

I got Old Skool. haven't kept up with the post cards, and will get some new ANS, just not to the level I was doing before.
No show for me, I am in North Carolina now.......Kind of ironic, as It would have been much easier the previous show location.

Wow. When I move to Asheville, NC I'll be surrounded with Wacky fans. That would be a big change from where I am now in the high desert. Then again, I got the ultra cool Smokin' Joe out here in Vegas.

Thanks, Hi, and yes... officially signed up. Been looking in now and then, but haven't posted yet... busy working on an all sketch card ANS 8... no printing involved... each artist is required to create 35,000 individual hand drawn cards... and no dupes. Let the rumors fly and the chase begin. (note: some posts may be truthfully inaccurate.)
Truthfully inaccurate!!! Is that a CAPN oxyMORON? :]

Hey gang,
This forum has really begun to take off.

Great idea Ernie!
Plastered Peanut = David Caudle

Yep, it's "Uptown". Nice, I'll have to try and find him on here sometime.
You guys definitely need to hook up. I grew up in Albemarle...stone's throw west of Charlotte. I live in Cary now.
We need to seriously think about getting an NC gathering! Looks like our numbers are multiplying. I think our last one was at Loren's place. He defected to Virginia. :)

No actually........I thought he was pretending to be Ron using another ID. His name is so similar (Ron Coy) I saw the Ron Co... and thought he was trying to be funny. That would have been funny but since it's his real name the only funny thing was my mistake. Sorry Ron! (the Cohen one)

There's ANOTHER forum? Geez, I'm so 'on the outside' of these things. And I just found a picture of Shot Wheels, which I think is my favorite Wacky... so, I just used it. Didn't know about the other Brian or the other forum. Guess I'm just a newbie after all.

Should we consider updating it? Anyone not on the list who wants to share their name? Don't be bashful :-X

I don't particularly like having last names in public posts, but then again, I've been stalked and hacked, so I'm probably a little more sensitive to that than others..............
