Title: Jay Lynch 2005 - 2007 Orginal Artwork
Post by: vahsurfer on March 22, 2017, 06:13:59 PM
I have compiled the sketches from wackypackages.org and combined them into one document (I am creating a Jay Lynch Binder with all of his tribute cards, art, etc.)

I HOPE it is OK I compiled them here for all to share and enjoy.  May he rest in peace.........

That's cool that cards were printed for his funeral! Does anyone have extras of these? I would love to own one.

Same here, but they're selling for ridiculously high prices on ebay.

Just realized only 67 were produced. So the chances of extras available are slim to none! LOL

Seems like the idea was that the card was a keepsake for those attending the service. Kind of surprised that they would find their way to eBay, but I guess I shouldn't be.

Because some people went to the service and snatched up a bunch of cards specifically to cash them in on eBay.

The following is a quote from the eBay listing:

These cards were given out at Jay's funeral. I was able to get a few of them.

A few of them?  Really?  WTF?

And now they'll sell one a week, as is their practice, until the cards are all gone.

that's really cool that you had Jay drawn on the rough. Would have been a neat homage if his depiction had made it to the final art

Very tacky, at least in my opinion.

I can understand how someone got one card, how did they get multiple cards?

I assume those attending were dear friends.... WHY would they give up such a keep sake?

To sell on eBay and make hundreds of dollars.  The cards were probably sitting on a table and they grabbed a handful.

And I say "tacky" is the understatement of the year.  This really pisses me off, but enough said.

I was trying to be polite.  Unfortunately, I'm sure there are people who will pay big bucks for this card, but I wouldn't even consider buying one unless the money was going to charity.

I know - and my intention was not to criticize your word choice.  Far from it.  This whole thing really galls me, though, and I, too, was trying to be polite by stating that "tacky" is a mere understatement.  What I actually should have said is that this is beyond even low - and then proceeded to copy and paste every single synonym for "deplorable."  But then and again, even this would have been being polite.

Isn't MAtt the seller everyone is chastising here?  Who printed these cards up?  I ask because who says the limit will stay at 67.  Come on people.  You have all been in this hobby long enough, stop being surprised by this crap.

I'm not surprised, just disgusted.  And, yes, Matt is the seller.

Arent you sharing a table with Matt at the next Philly show? I'm sure he'll be able to set you up with one.

Matt is sharing a table with Greg, and my table is next to theirs.  At least that is my understanding.

Hi All -

Another of Jay's funeral cards have surfaced on Ebay....but noticed the back art is one of the personalized artwork
in vahsurfer list...kinda makes me feel weird as the first artwork (the Peg Pirate) Jay did for ME.  Hard to think of it
on the back of a funeral card....

Here's another one.  This seller seems rift with self rationalization for selling this on ebay.  I guess he needs $50 that badly, I am almost tempted to bid as if this were a charity auction.  If the seller was a homeless pet, I probably would bid.  People should just be honest, "I want to sell this to make money".  That's it, end of story, no lectures, no self rationalization, I just want my $50!

If people are that anxious to share a bit of history with collectors, perhaps they should just auction the cards at a "buy it now" price of $2.50 - just enough to cover postage.

He did drive 8 hours to attend the funeral.  Maybe he's trying to recoup his gas money.

I admit I took a few of the extras.  I probably shouldn't be selling this on ebay but Jay was a good friend of mine and I'm sure he wouldn't care.  After all I was one of the few who actually made it to the funeral, I drove for 8 hours that day.
