Hello All!
I've been away from the forum for a while (sketching my brains out! LOL!) Yesterday, I received a request from Roxanne Toser. She asked me to post the information listed below on this forum since she is not a member. If any questions arise, I can contact her and relay her replies to this thread.
Best Regards,
George
The theme of the April 22 & 23 Philly Non-Sports Card Show will be Wackys and GPK.. Roxanne will be selling a very limited Topps licensed Promo Card set done by and for the attending artists. There will be a limited dinner Saturday night at the Hilton. Hope to see many of you at the show. Follow the Philly Show Facebook page for details and the Philly site (currently being revamped).

Thanks George. Would like to understand exactly what she means by "limited" when she says "limited dinner."

I thought it might have meant limited to a certain number of people like 20..........just thinking that different people could mean different things by the phrase........

I was thinking the same thing, Marc. Kind of like the 6th dinner that we attended... but that's my assumption... I will pass on Roxanne's explanation when I receive it.
-
I meant to type "60th dinner" in my previous post/reply!
-
I think it means Limited as in the amount of people attending. I was asked if I needed an additional seat, but just me going to this one.
-
I wanna know how to get the Limited Promo Set! Is it only available at the show? Can we pre-order? How much will it cost?
-
Good Morning!
Here are Roxanne's responses to the inquiries that arose yesterday...
1. The promo set can be pre-ordered but will not be available until the show (pick-up at the show or mailed right after). Not sure of the price yet.
2. The dinner will be at the Hilton and we are limited as to how many people can attend. We will announce the price and it will be on a first-come basis.
-
Thanks George. If you get any more details please post.
-
I wanna know how to get the Limited Promo Set!

-
This is to tie in with the 50th. anniversary of Wacky Packages?
-

Any info anyone can share on how we pre-order the promo set?

Any updates on the dinner? Will there be a dinner specific Wacky Promo?
Andrew

Matt Stock and I will be setting up tables at the show and we don't have any new info at this point. If I hear anything new I will share it.

Although we are still 2 months out from this show, I think we definitely need an answer within the next 2-3 weeks. I'm sure for those who haven't made a show in quite a while, They have a lot of preparing to do.

Anyone know what happened to Non Sport Update website? It hasn't been updated in a long time.

The Tosers sold NSU so I would assume that site will be defunct.
-
I'm curious to learn more about the promo set as well. Unfortunately, no way I can attend the show, but would love to pick up any Wacky promos.
-
I am planning on attending and The Tosser Dinner - What do I have to do next?
-
This is probably the one and only time I make it to the Allentown show, so I hope to see as many of you there as possible. It would be great to finally put a face to the names!

That is just DUCKY!

Brother Shoe to the rescue, I have gotten in touch with Roxanne today and she informed me that if you want to get in touch with her, This is her e-mail addy:
roxannetoser@gmail.com
The estimated cost of the dinner is $35 per person and 1 of the 2 recommended hotels is either the Hilton or the Wingate, But to my understanding, she said the Hilton is the better of the 2 as far as a good breakfast selection and cost for the hotel itself. So now that I've done my part for today, It's all up to the rest of you who are planning on attending, As far as the dinner is concerned, She really wants the GPK/Wacky collectors to be there the most. P.S. The phone no. for the Hilton is 610-443-1419. Mention code PNS.

I want SO badly to attend!! But, I fear that family obligations will prevent my participation. I wish we had working Star Trek transporters so I could get back in a few minutes if an emergency were to arise. :'(

I just received an email from Roxanne this morning with some more detailed info regarding the promo sets and event dinner...
The 9-card promo sets will only be available for sale at the actual Philly Non-Sports Card Show on April 22 & 23. (No pre-sales or post sales) The cost will be $25 per set and the set is being done by and for the artists: Smokin' Joe, Chad Scheres, Layron DeJarnette, Joe Simko, Jeff Zapata and Neil Camera.
Regarding the dinner... I really want GPK and Wacky collectors to have first chance. The dinner is Saturday evening, April 22 at 6:30 at the Hilton Garden Inn. The cost is $35 pp and anyone who's interested in attending should contact me to be on the list roxannetoser@gmail.com. There will be a special promo only available at the dinner. They will be contacted when it's time to pay.
-
Are they limiting the set to one per guest with the dinner? If not, can someone who is attending please order me a set?
-
George, this is great info, thanks for passing it along to us from Roxanne.
I actually have something I'd appreciate you passing back to her: Being as this is a special show for GPK/Wacky Pack collectors, might it be possible to have a table set up for said collectors to trade and congregate? I know that, personally, I consider this a big help and attraction to attend the show. If there's no space to do so, I understand, but it would be a boon to set aside such a spot, particularly on this occasion. Thanks!

This was done a couple of years ago, and not repeated. I seem to recall an extra $10 charge for being allowed to sit at that table. There were not many attendees at that table. Hopefully this time (1) there will be no charge and (2) even if there is, there will be many more attendees.

Yes, Rob (Dr Popper) made the arrangements on behalf of all the collectors. I remember it got complicated because it took Rob a bit of effort to collect all the money & get people to sign on to the idea, and then, there were issues with a lot of people "working" at the table that didn't contribute to the "pot". I think I remember about 10 of us kicked in $20 a piece to get the table. It was several years ago, so it might have been more people & less $.

The "Set" will be sold at the show only is how I read it. There will a Dinner Only promo card limited to 1 per Dinner attendee. I think that is accurate info.

This sounds crazy! What happened to sitting at the tables by the cafe? Last time I sat there, someone wandered off with a binder of some of my valuable stickers years ago....but soon I think I will have pieced together the culprit and people that were in the know.

Thanks DD! Can someone here please buy me the basic set without the extra dinner card? I will pay in advance and offer extra $ if needed. Don't want to do eBay again for these show promos if I can avoid it.

Those tables suck even if we were allowed to use them for trading which we are not.

To any of you who have tried using the phone no. I posted here to make a reservation at the Allentown Hilton Garden Inn, I apologize to those who did. Apparently this is a fax no. Because as soon as it started to ring, there was a beeping sound. For those that want the actual no. Please send me a pm just to Pupsi-Cola.
-
I know I'm not the only one asking, but I can't make the show and would love get get a promo set (or at least just the Wackys in it). If there is a way for attendees to pick up more than one, I'll happily reimburse any attendee to grab me a set.
-
Same here. I have only a long shot chance of attending.
-
I'd be thrilled if anyone could buy me a set too!
-
A little birdie told me that one would be able to buy as many sets as they wanted to until they're gone. I, of course, will try to help as many as I can.

Nice! These were illustrated by the six artists who will be in attendance, yes?
Addendum: Oh, and interesting and good idea - poking fun at the hobby itself!

That's correct: me, Joe Simko, Smokin' Joe, Layron Dejarnette, Chad Scheres and Jeff Zapata.

Why do they have dups of the GPK cards and not the Wacky's - seems ODD or Wacky...they should have 9 unique cards...am i missing something... :o :o :o

I agree - why have picture dupes for 3 GPK cards (even though the names are different within each GPK pair) and not 9 unique cards. Either 5 Wacky and 4 GPK, or 4 Wacky and 5 GPK. But it is what it is............

Isn't that the trademark of GPKs? They always do two with the same art and different names? an (a) and (b) version, yes?

Yep, GPK has been printed that way since their very first series.

Hello All!
I asked Roxanne about the availability of the dinner promo cards for non-attendees. After a lengthy deliberation, she and the Non-Sport team decided that they are keeping it an exclusive promo for the attendees of the dinner only.
And now, to prove that I'm really A-Jerk... here's a sneak peek snippet of the finished art (Y'all have permission to slap me at the show... but you will have to wait in line... slaps are first come, first slap!)

1st of all, I think it's a great decision that only attendees of the dinner get the promo card, And 2nd I'm not going to allow anyone to slap you-LOL.

Just letting all of you that are interested in one of the Wacky/GPK sets to know that I was able with the help of my wife Janet to pick up 4 sets. 1 has been given to Andrew (Dr. Deal) the 2nd one will be mailed to John (Ruffs) and the 3rd one will be sent out to Brian (Brute 88). As for my 4th one, that one is pending cause I just sent a message to the member to see if she was interested in it, I'll post the other person soon.

Brother Shoe. Thanks for hooking me up with a set. If I was still living in New York I would've definitely attended. I just read a post that you got a special poster from Matt. Awesome. You are a good friend. I met you around 25 years ago at a Philly show . That was a long time ago. I showed you a Ratz & Cracked I had just purchased from a dealer in The Wrapper. Still have them. Thanks again. Brother John

here's one from late Sunday as everything was wrapping up, and there was a few minutes to get a group shot of the artists.

The collectors, vendors and artists I was able to meet with is priceless to me and worth the journey ! I owe a huge thanks to Brian *** Ratchet007 *** for being an awesome host and good friend to me and getting me to the show each day all the way from Enola :o I look forward to the next show and hoping to meet up with some of you again in my city for the next GPK show in Vegas.

You are welcome John. I also wanted to let everybody know my 4th set has found residence at the home of Elizabeth (Monsterettes). Also out of curiousity, How many others besides me purchased some sets at the show?

It was my first show, so I was kind of cautious, but I did purchase a 4th series set (Mess and Windhex version). Kind of a so-so purchase but it broke the ice for me.
Mark (Campy) and I did some dealing on Sunday morning at the hotel, though.
I also bought a set of old Ghostbusters cards for my GB-obsessed son. Does that count? :P

My error on this one Brian, By sets, I meant the limited GPK/Wacky sets that Roxanne Toser was selling at a table near George's table.

I never got one of these, anyone got a spare?
