Just got the invite to do sketch cards for the 50th set!! Wahoo!!!!

Chad, congrats, that's what I like to hear! Should be a blast and a chance for you to do a few more classic Wacky sketch cards. I think they're still a few you haven't done!

Kelly Greider announced on one of the Facebook WP groups he would be doing sketches as well. I can't say I am familiar with his work, that I know of.

Have they ever solicited 'sketch cards' from the collectors or had sketch card contests, sold packs of blank sketch cards, etc? Always thought that would be cool to draw some, and collect some from prominent collectors.

Thanks sharing. There's a pretty good reason to pick up some Blasters. I have some coming. I hope to score a 4 card sketch set. I did that once a few years ago. It was quite the rush.

I am assuming the 4 card loadeds will be in Blaster boxes. That is how it's done with Garbage Pail kids.

With the 2015 Wackys, the loaded packs were in the Collector boxes.
The current sell sheet only mentions the 2-wide panorama cards, so who knows.

Many have said it before but, its really a misnomer to call these sketch cards any more. In many cases, these are mini-paintings. Those of us who remember the days of black & white sketch cards going for $150 and more will shake our heads in disbelief as many of the beauties above may be hard pressed to pull $20 in auctions. I am sure the glut of previous sketches has affected what the artists can get for return cards.

Scheres, I'm unsure about the exact contents of blaster boxes and hobby boxes.
I assume one of the 4 card puzzles would be in a box? If so, it seems like such a long shot to get all 4. Please enlighten me.
I hope to score a 4 card sketch set. I did that once a few years ago. It was quite the rush.

Well done, Neil! As much as I would love to get one of your "single" sketch cards, I have to say, I don't really understand the puzzle sketches. Aren't the odds of ever assembling a four piece puzzle almost astronomically difficult? I mean, if even one piece lands in the hands of someone who doesn't put it on ebay, then the puzzle never gets completed right? I guess I haven't really paid too much attention to these puzzles as I always figured I'd never get one so it was off my radar. But it does seem like a nearly impossible task to complete (unless I'm missing something here).

Glad you like 'em! As for the puzzles, don't fret! Topps inserts all 4 cards in "loaded" packs so you get the entire puzzle. Otherwise, it would be near impossible to find them all.

The "Loaded" sketch pack is one the coolest ideas Topps has done in a while. I recall pulling my 4 Card Demented Sketch set out of a ANS collector pack a few years ago. It came in a penny sleeve. I was confused at first when I pulled it. It felt like a very thick sketch card. Then I removed the "card" to pull out four sketches at once. I assembled the puzzle and sat back and thought "Boy I am lucky!" Hoping to repeat that feat this time around. Thanks for previewing what we could score.

Make sure to check out the "black and white" sketches by Floydman Sumner in detail. These are really nice tributes to some classic Wacky characters, IMO.

Those duals are fantastic! Also a great mix of original series, ANS, postcard and PoD characters in the black and whites!

Can one of the artists share what "guidelines" you were given for these sketches. Which series you could you pull from. Etc. ?

It's pretty much the usual: no booze, no cigs, no smut. Most everything else goes, including material from the postcard and old school series.

(Hopefully I can now stop staring into the Scare Deal Notebook and seeing "50s" where they don't exist or concocting elaborate "50" fabrications such as "5" fingers holding the round "O" white tablet in Dums makes a "50.")

I think we've all had that disappointing experience, including the big sellers on ebay. There are plenty of great sketches but they are so thinly dispersed among even the collector boxes, let alone any other boxes or packs. Unlike Old School, where you are guaranteed one sketch per box, this is like scratch-off lottery tickets with lousy odds.

When Old School series 1 came out, I started collecting AJERX sketch cards by different artists. The same thing happened with BLUE BEANIE sketches when series 2 game along. So was glad to add these two 50th Anniversary sketches...
