I think tha tis VERY COOL!!!

I think tha tis VERY COOL!!!
The gag is good, the color is good, far from a plain looking wacky. I had tried to help DPV sell this and then he suddenly pulled it from market. Probably best that he kept it as it is quite nice.
-
I would love to see it in sticker form.

Would make a great bonus sticker, something about it screams bonus sticker.
-
It sure would. I am surprised that we dont get more Jay Lynch Wackys in the ANS.

It would be cool if Jay could do a postcard title in the future as well.
-
That would be cool, too.
-
No matter if it becomes a sticker or postcard it is a great parody.
-
Amen!, Brutha!!!!

IF someone turns Doomstone into a card make it postcard size THEN AND ONLY THEN.....CHARGE ME THE MAX AH MUM!!!!!!!
-
I like Doomstone better than Reek's. The problem I have with Reek's is that the name only has one syllable while the original (Reese's) has two syllables. The parody name feels "off" to me. Just my two cents.

Doomstone is great!
The Reeks pic is not opening up properly for me, all I can see is the far left.

To rescan what should Mike and I do,go smaller or?

It would fit better if scanned a little smaller. However, the main problem was there was too much excess white border at the bottom, so people couldn't see the horizontal scrollbar easily.
Here's a smaller one:
-
By the way, I like Reek's. Love the fish (both the regular one and the chocolate one), and I really like the orange color.
-
Both of those are really cool. i love the details.

Ah, now I can see Reeks! I really like the package 'crinkles', and the fish is great. The package and lettering in 'Reeks' looks dead on. Something about the gag just doesn't grab me though. Part of it is, as someone said, the syllables in the title being off makes it seem odd. Still, another cool piece of art you've got there Lance!

When I click on the link(not the picture) it displays fine on my monitor.

Yeah, the syllables thing could be part of the problem, but maybe it's just that it depicts a dead fish? :) I remember being one of the few who loved ANS Minnow Maid. I mostly liked that one due to the highly detailed fish.

I love the expression on the fish's face. priceless! the flies are a nice touch.

I told Matt whatever he did was fine as long as the gag wasn;t Feces.

Ironically, that's the homemade I posted on my Homemade thread yesterday (done back in January of 2006). Yeah, Feces is the obvious choice - too obvious perhaps.

Don't forget to pickup a half dozen Doomstones for your dining pleasure!!

Doomstone won't be a real Wacky on account of they no longer let us imply that the product will kill you.

"With toppings that will only put you on the verge of death."
Problem solved.
-
love the lit cigar on the pizza!
-
My original idea for Reek's was "Racist Peanut Butter Cops" that would have solved the syllable issue, but I wasn't sure if the joke would have been too much. I should have just made it reekies I guess.
-
Doomstone won't be a real Wacky on account of they no longer let us imply that the product will kill you.
What about leaving you mortally wounded or maimed?? :] :]
-
No maiming or mortal wounding. Cigar and cigarette butts also would have to go. Although the original product IS called Tombstone...so how can you parody that? Brownstone Pizza for urban rehabbers? Gallstone Pizza...no...that would disparage the product by implying it's ingestion would lead to a medical condition. Timstoned pizza with Tim Leary tripping out on the package...the pizza for acid heads? Forget it. The Flintstones are a trademark...so don't go there. Gemstone pizza? Nixon? The Gemstone file? Maybe for Old School. Cell Phone Pizza? That's a good one. The kids LIKE cell phones!
-
gallstone is great! hahaha!
-

Well if Topps would make an exception, perhaps a bonus postcard added to a future postcard release, or an exclusive limited edition bonus card with 1st crack going to forum members.
-

Wacky Packs just lost another testicle.
Since series 8 could be the last one they should drop all their restrictions and just go with whatever's funny.

One of the first rules that I heard when I started writing gags was that the product couldn't be presented as harmful. I think the rules were bent a little for ANS6 but I don't know if there were many examples of dangerous/deadly products in the ANS.

Stay away from the brown pizza.

I'll never get over the stupidity of how seriously Topps and the brand owners take these things.
-
I'll never get over the stupidity of how seriously Topps and the brand owners take these things.
Regarding brand owners, I would tend to agree with you, and lets be honest, being parodied on a Wacky Package doesn't seem like the kind of thing that could possibly ever damage a brand.
At the same time, I think being an individual (or a corporation) who works hard to create a brand, one of the things that is part of that is that you get to protect that brand however you see fit, as long as its' legal. And if you want to take your brand too seriously, even if everyone else thinks it's stupid, that's the beauty of owning it.
I think most brand owners simply protect their brands as a rule, and don't see it as a priority to have someone picking and choosing what to let slide and what not to.
I suppose, with the advent of M&M stores and the like, a few of these food companies actually have active intellectual property departments - maybe the cereal companies, too, with the mascots and such - and so probably deal with this kind of thing more often. But how often do the folks at Tombstone Pizza have to worry about how their brand is being used?
-
Picking Tombstone to be parodied{?} was an excellent choice,Jay went above and beyond with all of the detail.

Hey now. Here in Wackyland we don't defend corporate driven censorship for spoiling Wacky Packs. We call them stupid!

4 years before the advent of Wackys, this was a hot item among members of the beat generation. Anticipating the 50th aniversity of this image in 2 years, I released the reprint early....just in case the world ends on Saturday. In l963, these things cost me 15 cents to make and they retailed for a buck fifty. A dollar fifty of 1963 money equals about $18 of our current inflated currency. So it is with that in mind that we have kept the price low, in accordance with l963 standards. Matter of fact, the price is much lower in terms of the buying power of today's currency than it was in l963. http://www.cafepress.com/jaylynch.470805128?utm_medium=cp_social&utm_source=addthis&utm_campaign=BasicShopPDP

I have wondered what medium, Oils, watercolor, gouache, etc, Jay and the other artist use?
-
I use acryla brand acrylic gouache. I think most of the other artists probably use gouache too.

Thanks, Jay.
