Just got this notice from Topps. I suspect the 5 by 7 sets might go fast...

Brian, my pleasure! I have to admit when I saw the email from Topps today I almost didn't open it as I'm tired of seeing all the sports related updates. My jaw hit the ground when I saw it was Wacky related.

I purchase one of the 5x7 sets as well. Not exactly sure what they mean in the write-up that they have clay coated fronts. I agree this seems like a pretty fair price for the set.

Just picked up a set myself. And while I was at it, added a Cheapios poster. Never had picked those up, but wanted to get at least one, especially since it wouldn't cost much more in shipping to add it to my order.

On the Topps website the 5 x 7's seem to be encased in some kind of clear plastic bag sleeve

Well I just tried to exceed the amount in stock and it just topped out at 14. Not sure if that's 100% accurate but still nice to see Wackys can sell quickish.

It now says "Out of Stock" so you probably got the last one. The set was reasonably priced, and quite limited. I'm not surprised it sold out so quickly.

Just returned from a 5 day trip to learn I missed out on this. Trip to Cabo San Lucas was great. Missing these was not so great.

I think I got the last set because I went to reorder again a couple minutes later and it said sold out. This was around midnight
99 is a very low count.

I didn't order them - i dont know if they are really work it - seems like another Topps attempt to squeeze the last bit of life out of the Original WPs - way over priced as usual!! i am sure they will have more...remember the posters ?? what posters? right...
the metal ones that hung on the wall were quite nice!!

So these cards are 5 x 7. That is a bit bigger than the post cards right? Now that I realized they wont fit in my postcard binders I am less bummed I missed them.

Glad you like 'em! I originally designed these as postcards with the idea that they would be released during the upcoming campaign season. Not sure what changed in the schedule, but it's a nice surprise!

Neil, very cool idea and a fun addition to Wacky postcards even if they are 5 by 7. Any thought to releasing a non-limited postcard (4 by 6) sized set in a fun wrapper?

Clay coat I believe refers to the white paint base coat on the front of the card. Good for printing on top of and getting great colors.

I did design a wacky campaign wrapper but honestly, I don't know if it's part of the set.
By the way, I think the 5x7 size is pretty popular, since they use that for a lot of other releases, but 4x6 would be cool too!

I received the email advert for these about 4:00 pm and tried three times to order. Each time, it stepped through the whole checkout process but would freeze and eventually throw an error message after about 6 minutes while attempting to submit the order. Gave up about 4:45 pm and tried again when I got home. It was working then. Leave it to Topps to release a new item while their website was having issues.

Just got my shipping notice. These are coming from Florida, with a delivery date of Tuesday, 5/26. This is quite different from my more recent orders.

Mine says it is out for delivery. That could be yet this evening or tomorrow. We seem to be one of the last stops for the UPS driver that has us on their route. We often get deliveries as late as 7pm or so.

Mine showed up today, earlier than they had indicated. I like the 5x7 cards. Sorry I ponied up for a large one, as the resolution is very disappointing.

Got mine today, as well. Ditto on the 5x7 cards, they are fairly decent quality and kinda cool, 'specially being limited quantity. Too bad to hear about the "poster size" ones being a bit shoddy. A shame.

The printing and card stock for the large one is done as nicely as the small ones - I think the problem I'm having with it is that the new text and blue/red election stuff is brand new and sharp, and the enlarged original Cap'n Crud lettering looks kind of "Cruddy" in comparison. Checking out the 5x7s, I think there are some other titles that might look a lot better in the large size.
The 5x7s just fit into two pocket pages, so I'm putting them in a Wacky postcards binder. They display really nicely that way.

My set arrived today (#04/99 for those scoring at home). I like the set. The size of the cards is nice and its a fun election tie-in item. A nice item at the price.

I'm sure these came in more than 1 box, and I'm sure more than 1 person packed these. So, if that is the case, each person would start from a different number. (plus I doubt any case had the #1 on it and said "start here")

Jim, don't know and no big deal but I just curious that if someone wanted a low number could they do something (order early perhaps) to increase their chances. Doesn't seem like they could.

looks like these were ready in 2014, or else someone put down the wrong date initially in the copyright notice.
you can still see the '4' on four of the card fronts, where a 2015 was pasted poorly over a 2014 (3, 4, 9, 10)

Patrick, great catch. It also looks like the copyright symbol was half covered by the 2015 paste over.

Sorry to bring up an 9 year old thread... the story as I understand it was that Topps had a falling out with their then current printer who then withheld everything they had printed on hand. Topps moved to another printer and these Parody Art Prints were released in 2015. A few years ago, the original 2014 art prints (along with a bunch of other material, mostly sports) made its way from the former printer to the secondary market. I have a complete set of the 2014 version, but they are not serial numbered like the 2015 version. What are your thoughts about a set like this? Do some of you consider it a 'bootleg' since it wasn't officially released by Topps?

Ha so cool, thanks for posting. I’m sure there will be a number of opinions on this but I wouldn’t consider them bootleg just more like extra stock. Years ago I bought a copy of a limited print that Frazetta had released in the 70s. The print is unsigned and unnumbered but was just extra stock that the printer had that was found when they finally closed shop. I’d consider your set to be similar to that. Something fun and cool to have but not necessarily part of a complete collection.
