I have Two Collector Boxes on order. Really hoping to score a Medallion card. I hope I don't have to go to Ebay for one.

Excited here as well! Getting a case or two for the first time in my collecting life. Collecting sports cards for years and finally am diving into some WP.

I purchased the Collectors Edition cases...when I bought in on the presell I didn't quite know the difference. Now I'm wishing I would have purchased 1 of each (CE and Hobby). :-/

Let's not forget the retail bonus boxes and jumbo packs with the additional bonus stickers! I didn't buy any boxes or cases, but I can see me visiting eBay a lot to complete the Lost Wackys and other limited bonus stickers.

How do you guys typically manage your case openings? Do you open and then immediately sell what you don't need? Do you use this site to sell/trade...or do you use eBay?

Good question.
I figure it's just change for the sake of change.
Gpk's just started doing BNS 1,2,3, and now got pushed to 2014s, 2015s, etc.
I think Topps always wants to have a 'series 1', thinking people like to buy "firsts"

Patrick, I can tell you that I know of the at least 4 ridiculous reads gags that are pretty great.  So this one gag, that you don't like, is in no way representative of the sub-set.

I'll probably regret buying the retail case, but if I just go with collector boxes I won't have enough base sets to supply the comic store.  The last few ANS series I just bought a bunch of base sets from Leslie, but she really seems to have dropped out of Wackys.

I still have unsorted boxes of ANS7 from the case I bought from Lockwood......  I build two sets out of a box whenever the store runs out.

Get ready for another round of "Fingering Frenzy" at Targets all across America. I wonder if WalMart will get cards this time around. Chrome was the first rlease they did not stock but Chrome was more collector focused.
Hopefully this release will be carried in more places.

You are not mistaken, but chrome did mention odds for mixed up art cards which are pretty much the same thing so I figured maybe they would start disclosing that info with this release.

I saw a top loader at one of my local Targets, but no bonus boxes or jumbo packs yet.

I went through every pack in the top loader, and I don't think sketch cards are in the retail packs. The odds were not listed for them on the wrapper. But there are gold bordered cards, so you will need to do some extreme fanning to find them. What are those cards with the funky pink and yellow pattern backgrounds?

I found a Gravity Feed in an Excel Box in a Princeton Target. I gently fingered all packs and found no sketches. I did not look for Golds which would have taken a lot of time to move the cards around enough to see the border. I just looked for solid edges indicating a sketch.

Interesting. The east coast always seems to get them earlier than the rest of the planet.

The Targets here on Long Island do usually get them quite early, but I didn't check yesterday.  Will try today.

I found the jumbo packs in the toy department at one of my Targets. Even though there is a large window on these packs, I could not see the bonus sticker numbers (ie: B1) on the bottom corner and it's hard to see through the back of the packs. I don't want to buy a bunch of these packs now just to find out later how to find the bonus stickers. Target has a no-return policy on trading cards now, just an even exchange. Anyone have valuable info they can provide?

For curiosity, I just checked the Topps website.  No 2014 Series to be found.  Nothing!!!

You would think that would be a sound business strategy to put your own product up for sale on your own website the date of it's release but I guess not.

Who is running things over there????

that's b/c they are on the upper right side - were all the packs the same? Is Walmart selling the other B Cards??

I just noticed on eBay that the bonus stickers have that pink-yellow pattern backdrop, so that will be an easy way to find them inside the packs. Not sure about Walmart having different bonus stickers. I will have to check a few stores later.

the odds of the loaded sketch packs are 1:565. On Blowout's site it states there are 50 packs so that would make a total of 336 collector cases.

Does UPS have a waive sig form? I think I signed up with UPS through Facebook and I could change my preferences. I'll double check.

Update - I just looked at my tracking for tomorrow and mine also requires sig and it states I can't waive the request. After you log into UPS you can go to UPS my choice. It will lists all packages coming to your address. When you click on the package coming in there is a delivery change button. When you click on it there is an option to leave package with a neighbor. It wouldn't hurt to try.

I have been trying that for the last hour and a half, starting off by signing up for My Choice, but it won't let me change anything!  Trying to reroute to the local UPS store for the $5 fee, and I keep going around in circles.  I am having a VERY bad day on the computer today.

Do you get something that looks like this? When you click on the shipper it gives you delivery options. The first page says leave with neighbor. I didn't go through it because I didn't want to screw anything up.

Hit Two Targets in PA today. Found untouched Gravity Feeds in both and no jumbo packs in the toy sections.

Fingered and found no sketches or Golds. Purchased 4 packs with Silvers in them for fun.  My collector boxes arrive tomorrow.

I signed in with Facebook a few months ago and I get ups notifications all the time because I order a lot from Amazon. I received a UPS notice for my tomorrows delivery before I got a shipping notice from Blowout.

One other thing, are you logged in and setup a ups account with your address and such?

Question, why isn't this set called "Wacky Packages All New Series 12"?

This is what I am wondering too. I think it is just to create more sales. But now I wonder, is this another series of sets? Is there going to be an official ANS 12? Maybe they sould of called it, All New New Series 1.  ;)

Will check my Target today and report back. As far as my Walmart goes, they seem to never have Wackys anymore. And it is strange because they went under construction about 2 years ago, became a Huge Walmart, and since then I have never seen any Wackys in the newly renovated Walmart. They have a card section and all the other stuff, no Wackys. Come to think of it, I haven't seen any GPKs either, but I don't collect those. Really weird, and I was so excited thinking it would be even better since the renovation.

Scored a four card sketch set out of one of my two Collector boxes. They line up horizontally. Pretty cool to pull this four card set and another Smokin Joe Sketch and a Plate out of the same box.  I got three golds out of two boxes One Lost Wacky and one auto. No medallions or Red Luds.
I purchased the Demented Variation and Regular Medallion off the bay today so it all worked out. I really wanted a Medallion out of my boxes. Instead I got some of the coolest sketches I have ever pulled. I guess that would be called a "Loaded" pack right?

This change in numbering was debated as early as ANS7. There had been a gap of 2 or 3 years after ANS6 and when the next new set was first announced Topps called it "Wacky Packages 2010." By the time it was solicited to distributors, the name was changed to All-New Series 7.

Garbage Pail Kids led the way in the new naming/numbering. I think the idea is that a high series number discourages new customers at retail because they'll think they've missed too much to catch up. In GPK land, this year Topps released:

The next set that was just announced will be:

Wackys are sure to follow suit.

Yep, I set up an account (one more password to forget!) and logged in.  It seems to require that a delivery attempt fail before I can reroute to a UPS store.  How stupid is that?

Anyway, I arranged to be able to stay home today, and my cases are out on the truck for delivery.  Hope to have cool stuff to report later!

I noticed Joe Simko has changed or evolved his style for the sketch cards in  this release somewhat. The lines are bolder than most of his previous sketches and a different shading technique, especially noticeable on noses, beaks, etc. That's one of the cool things about having some of the same artists involved over several releases. Its really interesting to see these changes over time. Here are a couple of examples...

Just Purchased the last card I wanted for this series. I ended up purchasing 2 Collector Boxes and some Retail packs from Target.
I could not find the value Packs at 8 different Targets. I have changed my collecting strategy this around. I have done some trading to complete my base set ; but its a mixture of all the different borders to comprise the 110 card set : Black, Alternate pattern, Gold, Silver and Red plus the 20 card TT and RR .  I got two bonus cards from my boxes and purchased the other 6 as well as B1 and B2 from dealers. I will buy B3 and 4 when they surface. I got one lost wacky from my boxes and purchased the other two. I kept the four card sketch set I scored and sold my other one. I purchased Two Medallions (Demented Reg and vari) and One Patch (Jelly Bully). I kept the one auto (Furbeast) , one plate (Skitzles-cyan) and two Black Luds and Two Pencil Drawings I found in my boxes. I may purchase a Red Lud later but not sure about that. I basically wanted to have one of most of the different types of cards in the set.

I think this is the best set I have seen in years. The humor and art are top notch with not too much potty stuff. I hope this set sells well and they keep it going. Now where is my binder?????   Also,  I am having trouble seeing the detail on the cards these days. I am going to have to spend some time with a magnifying glass to really take in all the details that are present this time around.

Many thanks to Topps and The Artists for a great release!

Andrew

Sorry for a few quick questions:

Is Toys R Us going to have anything available for the new series?

I'm sure it may have been listed here before, but what are the possible
medallions that are available, i.e. a checklist?

And is there just one patch (Garbage Pail Geezers) as well?

I painted it

I should have guessed, given how good the art is!  I personally think you're the best painter Topps has these days.

That is amazing!  Incredible pull.  Certainly one of the very coolest sketch(es) I have ever seen.  Smokin' Joe's sketches are always stellar, but he really outdid himself this time!

Thanks, I was happy with how these puzzles turned out. Noce having a bigger space to work with... and I chose the long shape to see what it might offer in the way of a different design / or if it might allow me to tell a different story. Here is another that is out there somewhere.

Not a fan of potty humor in general; but Allturds really made me laugh. "Curiously strong smelling" is classic!

Also it's very cool that Topps found a way to up the ante on sketches!  I know they were aware of waning collector interest in sketches and came up with a neat variation as a chase item.

I had asked this before the forum upgrade, but now I can't find where the post went.  Anyways, does anyone know who painted "The Loraxed"?  I halfway suspect it might be a lost 90s Wacky.

It's new. It's a concept I submitted and Brent did a great job with the final.

The day the collectors boxes were released - last Tuesday I believe.

Just checked the tracking - out for delivery at 5:26 pm from a station that is not even in the same city and across the bay!!! No distribution points on San Francisco??

So I just purchased a Gold Bordered Muggle Sticker on Ebay for $4.99 Buy it now with free shipping. I was not looking to buy any more golds but it was just listed and that looked like a very good deal. I checked closed auctions and another one went for less than $4.00 with free shipping. I recall paying upwards of $300 for a gold Fool Aid Lost Wacky Flashback One.  My how times have changed  :)

They were a lot tougher with Flashback. I think I got about 15 golds from 3 cases. That's only 6 box cases with only 14 packs per box. With flashback there were 12 boxes per case and you were lucky to get 2 in a case. Within 3 cases you would be lucky to get 3-4 golds.

Also, I think it was ANS7 was the first ANS series that included sketches. Sketches were incredibly hard to pull. I was so frustrated that I couldn't pull a sketch and I think I was up to about $800 on retail packs and a couple cases. I ended up paying $1000 for a cool sketch. I bet I couldnt sell that sketch for $40 today. It's the most expensive sketch I ever bought but I've done well over time to make up for it. Hard lessons.

I do think that most of us here collect because we like Wackys.  I know that I don't collect to get rich off them.  I am watching what is being sold on Ebay and you can't even come close to break even on a case.  So as long as you enjoy what you collect you are enriched.  Now don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade a patch for a common red, but all of my doubles are available for trade even up.  (I have a lot of doubles).

Noticed your display of little cars there, particularly the pair of '68 Impala Super Sports. As some here may recall, '60s Impalas are a passion of mine. Here's the real one I have [a '64 model] (I apologize to those who have seen it before and are tired of it, LOL). The red '64 Chevy truck next to it is my brother-in-law's. I noticed Topps is selling Blank Back 1/1 versions of all base titles in this set. I scored the Magenta Printing Plate for Skitzles in one of my Two Collector boxes; so I decided to go after the Blank Back Skitzles card and got it for under $20. It took me one trip to Target to find the Silver and Vari Border Skitzles cards by the fingering method.  I was able to purchase the Red and Gold Border cards off Ebay and Gary sold me the Auto, Black Ludlow and Pencil Sketch versions. Once I find a Red Ludlow I will have a nice display of most of the Skitzles cards made. Knowing how a much a Superfractor would cost me in the Chrome series; this was a relatively inexpensive way to put together a nice array of different card types made for a release. I will post a pic one day when I locate a Red Lud.

Nice Andrew. I did this for the last ANS release with the SNO-CRAPS title by Joe G.  I have almost the same thing going for this release with #39 FRUIT TROLL-UPS, another one of Joe G.'s cool works. I guess I am a sucker for his burly beast characters.  I don't have a printing plate, but do most of the other variations for this one title including the blank back card from Topps Vault. Plus an artist return of FRUIT TROLL-UPS in the works by Vincenzo D'Ippolito (Chenduz) so it should be the first ever sketch card of this title.

Sounds like a logical idea to go after a sketch too. I will keep my eyes out for one for Skitzles and hope you come across a plate for Troll Ups at a good price.

Andrew, can't say for sure but I suspect an Artist's Return might be the only way to get a sketch of a title from the same series.  It's unusual for artists to do sketches of the most current characters.  Part of the reason for this is that sketches and gags are done simultaneously so you don't really know which gags will be in the set when sketches are being done.

A couple observations:

There hasn't been a lot of patch auctions. They seem to be tougher than expected. I also noticed the medallions are slowing down a bit. I, personally, like the patches more and have assembled a set. The medallions are cool but too tiny to really see like ANS 11 patches. so with 2014 they made the patches full size. I see ANS13 medallions will be full size belt buckles :]

I agree with you on the patches. When I opened up my cases I got a total of 8 patches and 16 medallions.  The pack odds says it should be reversed.  Brad did you calculate total amount of cases yet?  It seems to me that distribution went to collectors and not to card sellers. There are really no auctions for the new series, crept for the people who still think that gold cards are worth 50.00.  I can still find those.  But I am still looking for a lost wacky #3,and I just can't find them. Also needed a few more black ludlows and after the first week there haven't been any auctions

I'm coming up with roughly 350 cases based on the artist auto ratio. Also, I just got a message back from Cardgary and he has opened  many cases. He is yet to pull a lost red ludlow or any card character or back variations. I know he has opened quite a few cases based on the number of quad sketches he has auctioned. This is all so strange.

yeah, that's about the number I computed. it differed depending on whether looking at the odds for artist auto, base card printing plate, lost wacky red lud, or hobby bonus printing plate
but around 320-335 cases.
I'll be adding how many of all the items should theoretically exist to the Master List later this week (after the EFT-1 launch, baby!!)

from the numbers I've crunched from the pack odds, there should be about a 4:3 ratio of medallions to patches - if counting the rare medallions in with the regular medallions. You had 2:1 and I had 3:1. Not sure how others have fared. But it does make me suspicious of all the odds numbers, especially since those wacky backs are clearly not 1:43 packs.

I got 8 medallions and 6 patches, but one pack had two patches in it.

Now you have to wonder if there are a couple super loaded cases? Kind of like the Flashback series were every pack had a gold border. It's a new Wacky mystery.

Still looking to find an Auto Puzzle Back and Red Lud for Skitzles. Very few Hard To Find cards are being listed lately which spells very few cases being cracked by dealers. This release is pretty much done in terms of sales. I was able to find both back variations for the Gold Border Skitzles. I got one for $15 and paid the $25 the other dealer was asking for.

My wife surprised me with a gravity feed box and 45 packs a couple of weeks ago.  Tonight I decided to see how few packs I could open to put together the 130 card base set.  I did it with just 28 packs, which is 8 more than the absolute minimum since you only get 1 of the chase set cards in each pack.  I opened a few in frustration because I could see the sticker number I needed but I simply gave up trying to make out the back.  So for $70, I got what I could've purchased on eBay for about $25.  Chalk the extra $45 bucks up to the fun of opening the packs rather than just buying a complete set.

Since you can see the first sticker in each pack and by manipulating the cards, you can make out enough of the back to figure out if it's an A or B, that brought up an interesting thought.  Has anyone put together a complete A and B set just from unopened pack fronts?  It would be expensive, but it would be a cool addition to your collection.  Then if you're really anal retentive, you could get the packs graded and perhaps have a PSA 10 complete set of unopened packs.  Just a thought.

Just picked up a puzzle 4 panel sketch series by John Monserrat on eBay this evening. This one has 4 of my fave Wackies (Space-Out, Moose Attacks, Alive, and Martian Hats) and at a pretty decent price. Here's a quick attempt to show it as intended from the auction photo. Click on the pic to expand out to see the entire picture.

and you can actually see many of your ANS 7 wacky's in Diary of a Wacky Kid now, without having to use a microscope - Cutz, Ghoul Scouts, Mtn Dude, etc.

plus some changes in lettering vs. the final cards - like the removal of the "dear diary: skip dis movie" on Diary, or the "it's" on BIT pens

I scoped out some completed auctions on ans Lost Wackies. Sets of L1, L2 , L3 sold for $16.49.

That is pretty low for cards that were pulling $70 recently. I think I will try to not pay more than $20 per card for the Lost Wackies in 2015 Series 1. I may have to wait a bit. Not easy for me to do when it comes to wackies. I like have  my sets together within 10 day of a sets release. I think I have to work on that some.

I have been noticing a lot of the people that bought the new series didn't do it in big numbers.  With the lower numbers for the sale of chase items, the less someone will be inclined to buy cases.  I figured on the cases I bought, that I just about broke even.  It was so close that I am not going to buy as much.  If the people don't buy the unopened product you will be hard pressed to find someone selling it for less.  This is classic supply and demand.
