Hello everybody,
I recently worked on the Wacky packages Oldschool Series 5 sketch cards.
A few people asked about my return cards, that's why I started this topic.
Well here is the first one of ten:

I used copic markers, acrylics and I airbrushed the background.
I want to give the forum members first hand here before I'll send him off on ebay.

Vincenzo, just terrific! I love the airbrushing in the background. The 1970's Wacky's used a ton of airbrushing and it's something I wish would make a comeback.

Maybe we should all fill our guns(airbrush pistols) and make some new/classic characters, I have mine on standby :D
Altough Mosquita, Nyt-Owl and Woozy Willy are def amazing new characters, with that Oldschool feeling, thanks to Dave Gross!! :great:

As for other cards... I'm currently working on the Garbage Pail Kids sketch cards for next years release in march 2015, so you should def keep an eye out! ;)

I guess you have to be very Lucky pulling that card cause I only made one Campy on the shaped sketch cards that where inserted into packs, however, I still have one blank Can-shaped Return sketch card here :]

He was refering to utilizing the shape of the sketch card into the art work. Not just drawing on the shaped card. Meaning a boxed shape card is actually a box drawing, same with the can and bag. Like I showed you for Ratz

We just can't all do the same concept on those cards, that's why I chose to give them a diferent look(I applied my airbrush on most of them)
I'm glad that people have different tastes, we can't all like the same cards :P
And your Ratz card is going to look like a rad box shaped card! :great:

Hello,would like to say your sketches are very nice & they show you put time & effort on them with saying that I notice two great artist out there wont mention their names,but Im sure many collectors as myself have notice,they didn't put their A game on this series,some sketches look to be done in two or three minutes,but I also seen Smokin'joe has done a awesome job on his sketches with some great details,I would say he has top notch sketches for this series,but there are some nice ones out there from other artists. thank you Chenduz & keep up your great art. :great: :great:

Thank you very much for the kind words, that puts a smile on my face! Yes, I spend lots of hours on my sketch cards, and I really hope that I made some collectors/WP-fans happy with it.
Smokin' Joe's cards are always fabulous! I haven't come across one that I didn't like, well that says a lot!

Vincenzo, I also noticed you have a few Sketch Orphans (sketches for a Wacky gag that is not yet published) in there. XXL-Men is a Paul Harris gag painted by Brent Engstrom that was going to be in WP 2014's 'Ridiculous Reads' sub-set but was replaced by Richie Retch.

I just LOVE those oldschool characters they are the best ever, but I can't ignore the new characters, there is just sooo much awesome new artwork released by such talented Wacky Artists, that I needed to translate a few into sketch cards! I also made one from your final art - Troll ups (see image below)
I did NOT know the facts on the XXl-men gag.... I saw those images posted on the internet with the message: "new art for the 2015 series release" I still have NOT openend a single pack of WP 2015!! So I have NO clue on what all the new artworks are in the set, I hope to receive a box soon?! Thanks for the update..... I need this info! haha.....

Vincenzo, yes it can be hard to keep up with the hundreds (perhaps thousands) of Wackys that have been done. Brent did post XXL-Men on his site but it has yet to be printed as an official sticker.

Yes Joe, you are def right, I must have lost track somewhere on the ones that where planned for the series and the ones that have actually made it to the series, I hope they will show up somewhere one day! I hope you get Lucky then, I only made one Troll-up sketch card in this set!! I also have to buy a box, I need to complete myself a set, I also saw that on some cardbacks there are Garbage Pail Kids!! I need this set more then ever!! ;D

Here I am again, I almost forgot!
Im very happy to announce that a new series of Wacky Packages coming out within a couple of days. This time Topps combined MLB's baseball teams with some wacky new artwork! I have drawn several sketch cards for the Wacky Packages 2016 MLB set and was also asked by Topps to make a tutorial video for the fans, so I did! I really hope you guys enjoy it and get a better view of how I make my sketch cards, this video is speed-up and compressed in 4 minutes, the actual run time was approx 38 minutes. Feel free to ask any questions, i will also post samples of my finished sketch cards later this week. Enjoy everybody and stay Wacky!! :]

Thank you Marc! .... and I DEF agree with you! It is a return card created for a Wacky fan on demand, so it is NOT being inserted in a pack let alone end up in a child's hand or anything for that matter, but rules are rules... mistakes occur ....

I can also proudly announce that Topps has invited me for this very cool event to do Sketch Cards. Hello everybody, with a last week to go before the Wacky Packages 50th Anniversary set comes out, it is time to post some cool sketches I've created for that set. Thanks, for pack inserts I make my own selection, for WP 50th pack inserts I only did Original Series, I'm not a HUGE fan of all the ANS stuff and after that, few titles per set only. Then Tobacco, alcohol and nudity gags are not allowed anymore. So that also narrows it down a bit. As for Return Sketches I always let the client choose what the subject matter should be. >:D

That really caught my attention also! Interesting how a relatively small thing can make a big difference in the expression.
And, as much as I'd like the Crust signature label to be eliminated (as it often gets in the way of the artwork), it's use for Umbrella is awesome.

It is really fun to play with the character, changing small things chances a lot! That's why I think every card has it's own "life" .... and YES! I also agree, the "crust" label is fun on the old school set, but I actually prefer the card stock to be like ANS sketch cards, small WP logo a coloured border and lots of space to draw, it seems the "crust" labeled stock is now mandatory on all series :( .... Yes that Umbrella one is made for it, let's see where it lands, just a week before the set finally comes out? :-\

Wacky Packages Old school 6 is finally for sale at Topps.com, a little disappointing IMO how they went for the "online clear box sale", instead of the traditional packed box with wrappers and all, BUT we can finally enjoy some great new artwork from David Gross and concepts by the late Jay Lynch. I hope that my sketch cards will land at most of you as they include 3 sketches with the 150$ option, with that being said here are a few more of my sketches I've created for the OS6 set, enjoy!!

I just received a heads up from Topps HQ that I'm NOT included in the upcoming Wacky Packages 2018 set, as something went wrong with the approval process of my sketch cards.
To make a long story short, Chenduz sketches are not to be found in the set. Also am I NOT allowed to post any scans of any card that I've drawn, therefor I will also have NO returns available. :sad:
I'm pretty bumped out and wanted to share that with you. I hope everybody still enjoys the new series and have fun building your sets and hitting big on your pulls, there is some superb artwork to be found in this set and also are there some amazing sketch cards to pull from great artists!

There are two different "postimage.org" segments in each image tag, that you see when you click the reply button.
I believe changing the second one is the one that works, per Scot's suggestion. In case there are scans you want to save.

Good point. Some images you need to click on to view the larger size - the "zoom feature".

Hello everybody, it has been over 1 year since I've posted anything here, thought it would be nice to share this with you my official Wacky Packages card that was released earlier this year in May at the Philly Non-sports Card Show as an exclusive card in a set of 4 of a Wacky Package/Garbage Pail kids crossover. Cards #1 and #2 where created by Joe Simko and Fred Wheaton (Halloween themed) and cards #3 and #4 by Layron DeJarnette and Vincenzo D'Ippolito (Me) (Spring themed)
It was an honour to be a guest at the Philly Show and finally meet some of you wacky collectors in person, I had a wonderful weekend, and lots of fun, thank you all! Some commissions are on their way whoever is waiting on one :D

I love working with grey colors, B&W is also great, I did a lot of greyscale sketches back in 2014 for a WP series, can't remember which set that was, the one with the purple bordered sketch cards, I did 250 sketch cards back then! Had to switch it up, but I prefer working full color, but only if I have enough time, this round was pretty short, in between me receiving the package and the deadline I only had 6 days to finish them, I never understand the rush and short deadlines, it really hurts the product imo... 8)

Greyscale sketches can and have been just as tight as a colored sketch. There are a few artists who could take the pencil from the scorecard at a mini golf course and create something incredible on the back of a gum wrapper.

Exactly, color or not, if the drawing is good, it should be alright ;)
And pencil is my best friend, that's how 99% of all my cards start, sometimes it looks better in pencil and I don't want to ink over it!!
