Title: Beware of auction
Post by: HENRY.R on November 10, 2013, 06:14:41 PM
this auctions have been popping lately on ebay, they put picture of 1973 series & you win,you wont get whats on picture either ans cards or nothing, guessing its a new scam, usually by sellers with no points or low points.
I have won one of this & seller tried to send me ans cards & ended up giving me a refund. >( >(

Why would you bid on this. There is no description. All the subject says is 60 Wacky stickers. Don't even take chances on stuff like this.

Hmmm, the new zero rating guy is selling a "BOX" with a picture of someone else's pack....

Yeah, that's an unopened first series pack I currently have listed. I just wrote to him asking what his "Box" listing is for.

Thanks,
I was racking my brain trying to remember where I saw that pack before as I noticed it had the same tear that I noticed before.

...with a picture of someone else's pack....

That seems to be more prevalent than I thought: A very reputable dealer, with almost 13,000 positive feedbacks, who I've purchased from many times before (and is also a member here), stole my pictures of the 2019 Neil Camera Halloween set to use in his own listing. The day after I sold my set, he posted his... using my pictures! I was a little upset at first, but, whatever. I just bought another item from him last week. I should have requested a discount as a usage fee for my pictures. LOL! His listing is still up as I write this.

It is one thing to actually have the item you are selling and steal a picture especially if grading is not an issue but another thing to be selling a rare item with zero feedback for an item the seller clearly doesn't own.  Quite honestly, I am sure I have grabbed other seller's pictures especially for something like the minis of which there are hundreds on the market that are indistinguishable.

Maybe, but I think it more likely they are just plain clueless as to what they're selling. Title and pic don't match. One need not be a Wacky expert to understand the difference between a box and a pack...

The descriptions are lacking too.  Just Condition is "New".  I would hope than an unopened box wouldn't be "used."

The seller has two other auctions that are just as ambiguous.  This one is very strange:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Unopened-GPK-ORIGINAL-SERIES-BOXES-AND-PACKS/154203355734

There are pictures of many unopened boxes, but his description just says: Min of $150 or for unopened boxes and Min of $20 for 2 unopened packs.  So, s/he may be clueless on how to create an eBay listing.

This one is for Original Series GPK, but the photo (which is probably also stolen) is from Flashback.  I'm guessing the seller doesn't know the difference, so I wouldn't take any stock in the Wacky Packages auction being original series either.

Could be but they step past being clueless when they have been informed and I have written the seller explaining the issue with his auction so let's see if corrections are made.

Some sellers really get offended when you point out flaws in their listings.  I had a long thread going with a seller of a 2nd Wonder Bread Lavirus listed as a 1st tan.  He wouldn't believe anything I said - even appealing to logic on why the die on the 1st white would be different if the only reason for the back change was different paper because they had run out of white.  I finally decided it wasn't worth getting into a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
