I thought it would be fun to have an ongoing thread of Wacky trivia questions. I am thinking one person starts with the question, and the first person that gets the correct answer wins and gets to ask the next question, and so on. I'll get it started………
TRIVIA QUESTION #! How many times did the title Gadzooka appear in released Wacky series?
Here are some parameters to follow………….
- only unique examples should be used. For example, the OPC reissue S1 would NOT count because it's identical to the US version.
- the following should NOT count…………Wacky Ad 4x, Poster series, 74' Tattoos, Sew-on patches, & Pogs.
- Gadzooka/Sugarmess S14 should NOT count.
Other than that anything goes!

Great thread, I know this question was asked in the past but I don't recall the answer.
Are yoju counting wrappers or purely counting number of different released series in card form?
-
For some some reason I keep remembering the answer as 14

No wrappers, just card form!

And the answer is.....23!

That's actually more than what I had! Did you see the parameters of what shouldn't be counted? If you get a chance PM me your list and I'll check it out.

Oops, I didn't read your parameters. I assume you are counting back variations, since you view those as different sets? If
so then I get 17 (actually stolen from Greg's list in the old "Wacky Fact of the Day" thread; 18 if you count 1986 (where it's
not on a single sticker).

not that I have any desire to win and then get stuck having to come up with a question myself, but....
I challenge that answer.
wasn't one of the criteria "released" wacky series?
do folks consider the 79 Test and Irish Test as "released"? I don't.
and if you do, then I would propose that the unnumbered die-cut version should count as well.
and what happened to the '86 album?
-
I count 21 with back variations and colored borders.
I missed this the first time I read it and I totally forgot about the colored borders. That adds 4 more to the list!

I didn't include the 86 album because it is a puzzle

This was a tricky one to start out because there's some obvious gray areas. This is really just for fun, nothing to win. I didn't include the 86' on my list because it's split up into 4 cards. The Irish Test could go either way I suppose. Just for my own knowledge the 79' Test packs were never released into the market? I'm not sure I knew that.

I think the '79 packs were likely released for sale, just on a very limited basis. I see no reason to think they weren't.
The Irish test packs seem less likely to have been released since so many turned up in one place, and none had ever
turned up before.

Damn, I need to stop working at work as I missed a chance to answer this. Oh well, great fun!
If we find a lull in people asking questions, can we ask a question that we are not quite sure of the answer to kinda give the forum members something to research and come up with a collaborative answer such as "how many original series wacky titles(products) were discontinued ie is Gyppy Popcorn even produced any more?
-
This is not a wacky related question but it's wacky alright.
What is the first thing you know?
I'm guessing your parents, or possibly your own name?

Of course! Remember Iffy Pop?

Ok Mr. Hillbilly……….now come up with a Wacky trivia question!
-
I have one that I think I know the answer to, but actually I just want to know (and make sure) -- so I guess it's more of a "question" than a "trivia question".
How many references to Wackys have there been on Garbage Pail Kids stickers, old and new?

Hey man, isn't that a GPK question more than a Wacky question? Does this include Wacky Garbage?

Here is a piece of "Wacky Trivia" that I (do'nt) know the answer, here it is...What "cities" were the (86) series test marketed? :^) Does anyone out there know???

That funny, I didn't even realize that until you just mentioned it. Well, that makes the question even tougher.

I'm still waiting for this thread to turn around and have some fun Wacky questions!
-
How many references to Wackys have there been on Garbage Pail Kids stickers, old and new?
I can think of two off the top of my head: The cereal bowl kid with "All-Brain" in the background, and Jay Lynch put Crust toothpaste on one of the GPK card backs. There are bound to be more. Other product parodies have appeared in GPKs that were more generic, like "GPK Kola" or some such. Do you have a list, Mark?
Brent Engstrom wove some product parodies into his later ANS GPKs, like a "Barfasol" shaving cream kid and a "Speed Lick" deodorant kid.

Ok, I came up with another one since Brad hasn't come up with one yet.
TRIVIA QUESTION #2
There are four series which have all of their base set titles on the checklists in CAPS. Name them……….
This one shouldn't be too tough!

TRIVIA QUESTION #2
There are five series which have all of their base set titles on the checklists in CAPS. Name them……….
This one shouldn't be too tough!
'82 Irish Set - '91 Series - '92 OPC Series and I thought there would have been an ANS or FB series with all cap.s too, but there isn't so I don't know the last 2.... ??

I'm not sure why I wrote five……….there are actually four that I counted so I edited my original post.
So you are still one off!

I'm still waiting for this thread to turn around and have some fun Wacky questions!
Here's one: thanks to the sophistication and classiness of the humor of the original 16 series, the words "barf" and "vomit" do not appear on one single 1-16 title. There is one sticker you will find the word "nauseous", however. Which one is it? (1-16 only).

Well, if it's not the sticker I mentioned, your question isn't quite accurate. There must be at least TWO stickers with the word "nauseous" because the Wacky I mentioned does indeed have that word.

Wow you are so right! I coulda sworn that years ago, I noticed this sticker was the only one with that word. Doggone. My first stab at a trivia question did not fly too well! :-X
OK, here goes a rephrase:
Because of their classy humor, the original 16 titles never once used the terms "barf" or "vomit". However, you will find "nauseous" on two of the original 1-16 titles. One is "Heave" from the 4th series....what's the other one?

OK - I have one....
Name four Wackys titles that each appear in more than one series such that they are listed on the checklists as exactly the same title but are actually totally different parodies.
Hope that makes sense.

I had:
Hungry Jerk (3rd & 5th)
Eviltime (6th & Irish)
Hamel Cigarettes (15th & '85)
I did not have Badzooka on my list. I assume you are refering to the 10th and '91 titles? I didn't count that one because the name does not appear exactly the same on the checklist.
There is one more that I did have on my list that you did not name.

Not to be nit-picky but the '85 version is listed on the Checklist as "G.I. Toe" where the 9th series version is listed as "GI Toe". There is still one more that I am thinking of.

And Ernie, I appreciate you keeping the answer hidden so as not to spoil it for me.

Very noble of you, Ernie, even though I dropped the ball at the end there.
- Name an Original Series Wacky parody title that is both a homonym and an anagram of the actual product name.
In other words, the title sounds exactly the same as the actual product name (homonym) and it simply rearranges the letters of the original product name (anagram).
I have one in mind, but there could be more, I suppose.

I don't think anyone else will bother to answer since you already got the answer. But in the meantime, I'll add a little more. I almost included this as Part B of my question the first time.
What are two other Original Series Wacky titles that are anagrams of the original product name? (But not homonyms.)
I can think of two, but there my be more. There is a slight twist to this.

Quacker Oats
Nutlee's Quit

Probably has to do with the timeline. I think Poopsie in OS 2, Burpsi OS 8, and by the time they came out with Pupsi (OS 10) Pepsi decided enough and sent the C&D. I'm speculating on this question, but that would be my guess.

I guess having the calendar up would have helped a lot.

"SPQR is an initialism from a Latin phrase, Senatus Populusque Romanus ("The Senate and the People of Rome"), referring to the government of the ancient Roman Republic, and used as an official signature of the government"

Hello everybody, does anyone know why there was (C&D) for "Pupsi-Cola" but not for "Poopsie" or "Burpsi-Cola" anyone??? :^)
I don't know. What's the answer?

What was [expando]http://sbillinghurst.files.wordpress.com/2009/09/choreboy-1.jpg[/expando] originally called, in the 40's?

According to the Gallery all 3 titles were C&D'd!

Brent Engstrom wove some product parodies into his later ANS GPKs, like a "Barfasol" shaving cream kid and a "Speed Lick" deodorant kid.
I pulled this last week! I was stoked. I hadn't seen it. It will go up with Rob Slob and Rodent Rob (which I just got in the mail from Mark Pupsi yesterday!)
I don't have access to a scanner right now, so I'm left to "borrow" this from GPK Monster.

Gurgle, Glad to know that...I used to be an avid (or rabid) MAD magazine reader and any time Sergio Aragones had a group of Romans in any of those terrific little cartoons used to fill spaces and borders around the mag, there would always be a SPQR sign. I grew up knowing this was synonymous with Romans but did not know why,

Catching up on old threads here, this seems like one we would have had going constantly in the old days. I guess we were all in denial of our Wacky nerd-dome, but somehow all this trivia an minutia (as Paul always called it) was fun somehow. I remember putting together elaborate lists of trivia questions with prizes, etc. I guess the "Kookaid" makes one crazy. (guzzle guzzle...) Uh-oh... Here it comes... Wacky info spewing out like barf...
#01. What is the only series 1-16 series sticker to have a typo in the copyright?
#02. What is the only title in the 1985 series painted by Norm Saunders?
#03. Who published the first "Lost Wackys"?
#04. Original series 1 thru 10, what is the ONLY puzzle with NO anomalies? (e.g. variations, interchangeable pieces, etc.)
#05. There are many 1-16 wackys depicting live pigs. Which sticker depicts a dead one?
#06. If the maker of Wacky Ad #25 hated licorice but wanted to use the same product line, what would the new gag be?
#07. Where is the original art to "Hostile Thinkies" (...This I just want to know. Everyone gets a point either way)
#08. What company manufactured the wooden Wacky "placks"? (an easy one so you don't give up)
#09. What is the only Wacky art pictured in the 1989 Guernsey auction catalog that was not actually auctioned?
#10. Why do I have a torn chunk of a "Bone Ami" sticker in my collection? (get this one and you really know your stuff!)
There are probably only 10 people who could get all 10 right (...well, 9 right. If you actually know #7, I'm all ears). If you started with the ANS series or weren't around in the 90s, it won't make a bit of sense. Sorry. I'm even shocked that I remembered this stuff. Haven't thought of any of it for a long long time.

Senatus Populus QUI Romanius! QUI! don't forget the QUI!
-
As for the Burpsi, Poopsie, Pupsi question... You forget. In those days burping was a natural healty thing. Cola was fine for babies (see the link below), but feeding your dog cola was a dangerous no no! http://scientificenquirer.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/its-never-too-soon-to-give-your-baby-cola-not.jpg

Welcome back Scott... good to see you posting on the Forum after a long sabbatical.. :o)
I tried to answer the questions (above), but probably only scored 70%.

Let's revive this thread!

Okay, all correct... let's try to make it more difficult...
#06. Which original series title had a rooster on it? (Only one answer)
#07. Which is the rarest original OPC title, out of any series?
#08. How did the title "Long Line Beer" change between the Irish Test and normal Irish Series versions?
#09. What box was used for the Irish Test series?
#10. Which 10th Series title has a copyright variation?

9. An inside out Black Hole Box!
Don’t know 7 and 8, and I don’t remember ever hearing about a 10th series copyright variation...but the old memory is getting a bit spotty!

I recall someone pointing out that it could be found with the copyright being closer or farther from the wacky by 1/8” or so
here's a screen grab of Scary from Greg's site and Rusty's site, which just happened to have the two of them

Yes, Scary Jane was the answer. The rooster one was supposed to be “Earth Barn”, per the Wacky Packages Phylum on Greg’s site - but the validity may be spotty. So, looks like one answer has surprisingly stumped people, unless it was poorly worded or just a mistaken question/answer as a whole... I’ll give some more time for #7 before I give the answer.

Earth Barn? do metal weather vanes even count as an animal?
after looking, there are quite a few roosters out there, not just one

The recently reviewed Canquit chicken pot pie is clearly a rooster.
-
Yeah, here's to believing other people's info! I figured all of the other ones were classified as chickens rather than roosters but that doesn't make sense looking at the titles mentioned... and his site also miraculously went down overnight, interestingly.
Either way, I am still pretty confident that there's an actual answer to the rarest OPC title, and if not I'll just resort to the dunce hat and sit in the corner.

3rd tan Sledge?

3rd tan Sledge?
Yes!
-
Wow... cool to see this one revived. I went back to my 10 questions and could barely answer them myself after 8 years of unWackyness. By now, I'm sure #7 is hopefully different. I'm guessing 90% of all Wacky art is in the hands of maybe 3 people now. All the good titles with Saunders characters anyway.

Not to be morbid, but who died from our forum? I looked back before this thread was revived, and saw posts from people like Bum Chex and Playbug, and some of those people have not posted here in a long long time. I assume they died because why wouldn't they still post? Once a Wacky fan....always a Wacky fan!

Geez... that's a brash assumption. I was pretty inactive from late last year until June, that doesn't mean I died. Other things might have come up in life, or their interests may have changed.
I know "Head and Boulders" was a user who passed from a car accident, not sure of anyone else. Not the most fun subject...
-
Yes!
Based on what?
-
Based on what?
The 3rd Series OPC Sledge tan is considerably rarer than any of the tans from that series, and the tans are considerably rarer than the whites. As I said, I could be mistaken, but I have been under the assumption that the tan sledge is the rarest original series OPC title.

How else was I suppose to ask?! I didn't want to start a new thread on the subject either. I wasn't offensive in my inquiry. I always wanted to know, since I've seen posts from many members over the years in our forum and Greg's forum that I don't see anymore. I know some people leave the hobby for other interests, but most of us are still here.

Does anyone know why it is rarer?

I would say any title that is single print on the sheet is just as rare. We’ve never seen one of those sheets though, so it’s speculation which of them fall in that category. I don’t see Sledge being the only one though, but most that fall in that same row of the 3rd series sheet
There are seven titles in that row that are single print. It’s highly likely most of those stayed single print after the replacements were made for the six pulled titles.

What is special about that particular row?
-
Looking at the 4th OPC sheet, strangely, the third row is the one repeated for the bottom row of the sheet. For domestic sheets, wasn’t it always one of the first two rows (depending on the side)?
-
Are you saying you think the Sledge row is the one not used as the seventh row on either side of the double sheet?
-
Are you saying you think the Sledge row is the one not used as the seventh row on either side of the double sheet?
Yes, just Speculating that if Sledge has been reported and shown to be tougher to acquire, that its Row having the least duplication would be the scenario to support that

For the seven row sheets (after the 1st), yes, that’s the case, row 1 or 2 for the repeat in row 7
