Title: 1967 Die Cut Wacky Test Card
Post by: hurricanes on May 27, 2011, 05:35:45 PM
Recent auction listed this card as a Test Proof Card for 1967 series, Weakies.
It is listed as test because not die-cut. Nobody bid on it and it went unsold.

I am not familiar with this listing of a non die-cut as a Test Proof Card. Does anyone have another opinion? If agreed, does the starting bid seem out of line?

I think I need to reword my question on this thread.

Does anyone have a non-die-cut die-cut card(67)?
Is there an opinion as to whether this is really a proof/test card?, or simply an error at factory?

If it's not die-cut it's most likely a proof card.  Topps auction off a bunch of singles over the years.  It's probably very close to the released versions other than the fact that it doesn't have a die-cut.  That was the case with a proof card I owned for the 1981 Irish Test series.

I have #1 Bordoms in that series...Came from Topps years ago.....was test printing before they tested die cuts....seams very reasonable as
these were the first Color printings of Wackies ever.   Cool conversation Piece ....as sheets were made in different order, whom is it to say
which one came first though....have not seen one in a Long time....mine is only a 4.5 but can't find anything wrong with it......

....and Dr. Popper is correct....it is a "proof"

That's because you are looking for flaws in the card when you should be looking at the grading company!  That would bug me to have a NM card graded 4.5.

Thanks Rob and Rabid

I agree about the grading issue. I have had cards(on baseball side) graded which did not make much sense in terms of grading standards.
